I am a farmer in south east Ireland! I do like your channel ! many thanks! We had Hereford's here many years ago and they are so placid, even the bull! You made the right choice in moving them on to another smallholding as they are savages ! They eat all round themselves !! You wont be needing as much meal now, which is great as it costs so much these days. They done very well with you as as we would say over here in Ireland "They are mud fat!" You have ben spoiling them with good grub! Keep up the great work! I also had pet goats, ducks and hens as a kid and your channel bring back such fond memories! Ta!

living in a rural area- I have in the past seen livestock walking down the road. I stopped and help the little old lady get them back in the pasture and then did what I could too repair the opening till husband came in from the fields. THe lady was so thankful and kept trying too pay me which I refused I was raised ya help your neighbers .

It’s your farm and life, do what makes y’all happy. I know yall’s heart is heavy, but y’all have to do what’s best for y’all. 💕

Joe was super cool. Sad you had to say goodbye to the cows. But you still have Ralph thank goodness! Glad they have a good new home. Keep hoping you will find your goat. Maybe ask a few farm vets if they have treated any goats since he might have been seen. Always amazing at the morals of people.

OK,I do check in once in awhile with the Cog squad,but you have taken over all my free time I just love your famly and your small farm life.Mostly because I miss the one we had started and didn't get to finish because the government took our land it had been in our family 100 years we had land rights everything , god what I would of gave for social media back then ,my grandpa's ashes are there. They took it so the army could play weekend warriors there it was totally not fair at all,but watching yall brings back memories our creek was beaver creek inGrimes,Iowa my parents are gone now , the barn across from our land was where my dad grew up.it's gone now too.thanx for the memories, bless yall.

If you cultivate friendships with some of these non-farm, non-homesteaders, do-gooders, you may find they are a good source of information to you. They probably mean well, are just trying to help a "lost" animal that they think is sweet, cute and friendly, These folks don't mean any harm and as soon as they understand the actual situation, they always return the animal to the owners. It's a matter of perspective and farming knowledge, and having friends spread throughout the area can be a great help to serious homesteaders, like you guys. Thank them, and tell them where they can get one of these little animals for their very own pet! Best wishes to you and your family!

Daniel I feel so sorry for you to lose little Joe. It’s really hard when you get an attachment to a special animal like Joe and then have to give him up. Most cattle don’t have personalities and Joe definitely did and my heart goes out to you to have to say goodbye to him. We can only pray he will be very happy in his new pastures. I know you understand he’s going to get more grass and we can tell ourselves all of the logical things but as I told my children in your teens, you have your brain that is logical, but your heart is not… And when it hurts nothing else matters. I'd like to see a video telling the story of Ralph. At first you said that he was to go back to the vet you got them from to be a breeder. Next thing we see is that he's banded to become a steer, and now he's stayed behind as the others were sold. It's not hard to figure out why he is still on the farm as a steer, but I'm really curious to know the back story of how his fate went from breeder to feeder. Love your channel & also really liked seeing you on the Smiths this week too!

Ralph will always be on the farm. Pasture, freezer, bellies, septic tank. I'll miss Joe but more mini donkeys will probably offset some of the feed bill.
