Thank you all for watching and for your understanding. I hope you can learn from my mistakes and we can all appreciate the time little Cocoa had here. She was supposed to die as a hatchling, she was found in a trash can surrounded by raccoons, I like to think she had a good two years rather than becoming a snack that young. Anyways, I appreciate your kind words and DM's, apologies if I don't get to everyone. Much love, Dan🐢
Dan I'm so sorry for your loss everyone make mistakes I 2 know how it feels to lose a turtle I now have 5 Turtles 3 YBS 1 Rio Grande Slider and 1 Map turtle Your doing an amazing job keep up the great work Dan Mistakes happen.
It was an accident! Im very sorry for your loss! Your turtles are beautiful. I hope one day I can find a male Ornate DBT so I can have babies like you did and help this species recover a bit. For now I will enjoy my 2 females. They bring me endless joy
I'm sorry for your loss, I know how it feels, she was supposed to go then because if she wasn't she would still be here. I haven't lost any turtles ( thankfully) but I have lost loved ones and other pets and it feels horrible. May she rest in peace.
I use a big basket over the pump intake so they can't get close enough to it to get stuck. Secure it properly. It also stops twigs and big leaves clogging up the pump.
I totally understand and relate to your pain. Months ago I lost my beloved Pearl River Map boy Plucky. The most beautiful Pearl Map ever. I miss him every day. At the end, loosing a pet is loosing somebody from your family because Pets are also family. 😭
No decent person would blame you for taking a minute. I admire your strength. Losing a pet can hit you in a sneaky way. No matter how many times you have had to "learn," you are still allowed to grieve! Thank you for allowing us to learn along with you 🙏 RIP Coco.
Condolences Dan 💐 you’re one of the most knowledgeable turtle owners ever. This definitely doesn’t reflect on your expertise as a caretaker and conservation educator. 💕
Sorry for the loss man. Found my 9 year old Midland Painted turtle Shelly dead today in her pond. Not sure what happened. I suffer from depression and anxiety from the military and she helped me get through alot of bad days. I'm devastated...........RIP Cocoa and Shelly 🐢
I'm so sorry to hear that. Please email me at DanTheGuppyMan@gmail.com or on Instagram and let me know if you're looking for another new turt whenever you're ready. I have friends that breed plenty of painted turtles
Hey, you're brave to share this to teach us, and at the same time risk getting the worst of the worst comments from people who do nothing but sit around and wait for opportunities like this to rip someone apart publically. Hat's off to you - I wouldn't have the guts to film it. But, you're right - those of us who keep exotic animals have to keep learning, and keep doing better. Thank you.
I think the backlash and aggressive comments are worth it if even one person learns from this and saves their turtle. I have been beyond fortunate enough to have only gotten two comments, of which have been blocked.
@@DanTheTurtleMan_ Ah good, glad to hear it. Seriously, I was expecting you to get the proverbial thrashing. But, yeah - someone's going to learn, and save their animal...
Damn Dan I’m really sorry about coco. This is the worst part about keeping animals. You did the best you could. Like you said, shit like that happens and you have to move on. I am really glad you found that leak. I know having that was super stressful for you.
Sad to hear the news Dan. It can be hard. You do a great job. It all goes with the territory. Word of advice with the SAVIO Skimmer I have the same one, I had a close call with one of my gals. When you take out the leaf catch basket where all the big stuff collects. I had pulled it out to empty it and just did not see I put it back in and she was under the basket and trapped. Luckly I was doing some more things and seen the basked move up and down and said what the hell and pulled it out and she popped up and said WOW. My Heart SUNK INTO MY GUT thinking what could have happened. I hear ya buddy that is a loss of family critter member. Its good to cry it out. Sending ya good energy vibes. Hang in there. Other note GREAT you found the hole! What a relief!! After swimming in my pond usually just rinse off well with the garden hose. Live and learn.
I'm very sorry Dan. I've lost 3 turtles in 32 years of keeping turtles. It hurts in the soul regardless of the reason why they're gone. My condolences sir.
Hey Dan, If it's any consolation, I love your content regardless of what the content contains. Showing the reality of what happens with your turtles is actually refreshing. Coco was a gorgeous turtle and she's in a huge pond in the sky. Your content, among others, helped me make a decision to join a volunteer group here in Milwaukee to assist with stray animals at the pound. Keep doing what you do. It's amazing and so are you!
Been going through so many videos. I lost my best friend Donatello a few days ago. A red eared slider I've had since i was little. I am now 27 and it was honestly really hard for me, still is. It really sucks but i hope my buddy is in a better place. RIP Donatello
Aww Dan, I feel so sad for you, sending so much love. I lost a turtle recently and I soooooo feel you on constantly blaming myself. You did your best and gave her a wonderful life. Sending you big hugs.
Im with u Dan . Last week I lost my 4 years old red ear slider name Cj. It was really painful but we need to move on and accept it Turtleloveforever🐢🐢🐢🙏🌹
So sorry for your loss buddy. My red ear died last week. She would stay out the water basking for extremely long and only went in the water to eat, then one day she went in the water and died.
I’m so sorry to hear that 😔 you definitely gave her a good life. I just read that she was going to be raccoon snack, but the life you gave her was so great, I’m sure she was happy. Very happy. Again, I’m so sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine what I would do if I lost my turtle. Sending you so much love xxx
Rest in peace. She lived the best life she could with you. I would've been devastated if I was her owner. Hopefully something like this doesn't happen again. Best of luck.
You're a good turtle dad... it's sad to lose one of your babies, but like you said you live and you learn. Dont beat yourself up. You got other babies to care for too. And I know they bring you lots of love.
I am so sorry to hear this. Stay strong and thanks for sharing. It is hard to share mistakes but wonderful you shared it with your community so we all can learn.
Ahh man this broke my heart watching! Learning and keeping your head up is most important. Prayers and luck sent your way man, keep it up And glad you found that damn leak!
So sorry to hear about Cocoa. She was beautiful. It really wasn't any fault of yours. Like you said, "its a learning experience. " On a cool note your turtle names are simply kick-ass😁
Exactly this. Thank you, I appreciate it. It's fun because I'm used to only having death, but now with the adults breeding and eggs hatching, I can see the life created as well
Hey buddy, I always have a smart-ass comment or something on these vids. we've talked in private about this but so sorry for the loss. She was a good turt. It'll all get better just keep your head up my guy
You gathering all your turtles just made me realize they are named after food. How...? On another note... You take really good care of your turtles. Cocoa couldn't ask for a better person. 🐢
