Hey Greg. My grandpa taught us how and when to polish our boots. He was the real McCoy Bataan death march survivor who had us kids unfurl, raise, drop, and fold up Old Glory every day in the front yard. His last Station was Ft Huachuca where he'd drive to daily on a one lane mostly curvy road for about 150 miles round trip because Grandma just couldn't live in such a tiny town outside Post. I still have the Veitnam era, standard Army issue, slip-joint pocket knife I inherited when he died. It's one of my most prized possessions along with all the life lessons he taught us. Point is.. you remind me a lot of my Grandpa Cliff. "Don't beat around the bush" he'd say, followed by "Let's just beat the bush". He really didn't give a damn about what you felt regarding any given topic. He was interested in gathering the facts, making decision, and sticking to your guns to achieve a good outcome. He also taught us to spit when finish polishing our boots. My nephew has been eyeballing the shit out of my Pretorian Slim Flipper so I guess I'll go ahead and keep it shiny and in tip-top shape to give it to him when I go.
Greg - would it surprise you to know the only brogue shoes I own are Allen Edmonds! Glad to hear your thoughts on the Praetorian! Edit…. Anyone who panders to politically correct like Knife Center can go to hell - if you lost all your dealers we would still buy from you because we love your passion and your knives.
I’ve got 2 praetorians and a BADASS fighter flipper that out of all my knives would be my last ever I’d get rid of.I love Medford and regardless of what anyone thinks or says it’ll always be one of my if not my favorite knife co!!!Also the FIGHTER FLIPPER goes real nice with a stainless .44mag!👌
Greg, I may not be a seasoned expert, but I have owned and handled some of the finer Knives available, and Medford is among the very best of the best. The Quality and attention to detail, are incredible.. The Rambo knife was made Marqui by Hollywood Movies, not a Knife communnity.. The Buck 110 is surely Marqui. youve made it clear that this is Temporary, and I support your decision.. THICK IS My Request! hopefully see you in ATL
When I was in Navy boot camp a little over 20 years ago my chief told me that spit shine is make the best shine. I still do that when I shine a pair of boots. I also agree that if you buy a quality pair of hand made boots they will last a long time and be comfortable throughout their lifetime.
As a guy that owns a bunch of Medford knives…and probably ten of them are Praetorians, I tend to recognize what Greg is saying. While I appreciate the diversity within the Praetorians line, I also appreciate other designs. As of late, my 187 is drawing my attention.
Greg, I own about 7 of your knives. This is a simple case of buying the knife maker and not the knife. Please don’t take that the wrong way, your knives are amazing and I’m lucky to own 4 Praetorians. I have so much respect for the way you speak your mind I will be a customer for life. My only regret is that I haven’t been able to buy a Praetorian Ti for some reason or another. I only ask that you make it public if any knife distributor ever stops selling your knives because that will be the last time I ever buy anything from them. You aren’t the only knife brand I own and I will only buy from those who allow people like you to have the freedom to say what he thinks. I’m sure one day either by second hand or if I find one, I will finally buy a Praetorian TI.
