During our road trip through to Adelaide and back to Northern New South Wales, we stopped at the Bonegilla Migrant Centre just outside of Albury-Wodonga along the New South Wales and Victorian border. It was an incredibly moving experience seeing how the migrants of the time (between 1947 and 1971) arrived and lived there.
My own mum came there as a seven-year-old, and it made me wonder how my own life would’ve been very different if my mum hadn’t come to Australia.

I respect and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past, present, and future. I humbly acknowledge the Waveroo Nation when I stay on and pass through their lands, not on any single occasion but always. This video was made on stolen land. Sovereignty has never been ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
