How come Grandpa Spencer wasn’t seen in the episode before this one? The episode before this was one was Motorbike (AKA King Of The Road) where Frank ends up in court, but Grandpa was first seen in the episode before that one which was Men As Women after arriving in England from Australia.

Totally agree. He played the part totally differently in the later episodes which made it far less funny. I have never heard any explanation from Michael Crawford for the bizzare change.

Bean will attempt ruining Spencer and end up being the one ruined. Spencer has a formidable naive cherub-like invincibility against any rival or dangerous circumstance.
