@@RealBesty The batter was hit by a very slow pitch, so it was much gentler than most pitches that hit batters. Often times a batter will flinch to try to get out of the way, or go down in pain. This guy wasn't hurt, and went down after the hit deliberately and with a smile. Then he went to first base.
Anybody who has played baseball has pulled that move and it is always funny. Something to do with taking a break from competing for a laugh can always make it even more humorous. My mom would chase me around in my wild teen days trying to discipline me and I would let her get what she thought was a death blow in and fall to the ground. She asked years later if it really hurt that bad and of course I said yeah of course it did. I didn’t want her getting the idea I was challenging her dominance or anything.
Brett Phillips (the Ray who got hit) is pretty much the nicest guy in all of sports and good friends of the pitcher that plunked him. He’s never actually charged the mound.
Bro I remember seeing this game last season that was WILD between the Rays and the Yankees, a Yankee pitcher hit the same guy with the ball TWICE on TWO DIFFERENT BATS and a fight almost broke out when he started stepping towards the mound after the second hit

No they did not know each other. He was pitching slow because he's a position player and not a traditional pitcher. He didn't mean to hit him, the ball just got away from him. The batter was just playing with the pitcher.

That's a real man right there in the first one. As soon as that guy pops on the ground he goes to fixing his package, squatting like that for a long time can't be comfortable.
There's such a romanticism to baseball that has stood the test of time and makes the GAME the PUREST of them all. No matter what has changed throughout the years, baseball is still, PRESENTLY, America's Favorite Pastime. GO BRAVES!!!
I love the one where the guy slides to second and he's trying to get up without taking his hands off the base and the guy keeps tapping him with the ball until the runner calls time 😂
