Tracer Main 1 Jason was joking 2 You can’t deny how the NFL treats qbs like they are fucking toddlers. These are grown men. They can take someone falling on them.
@Tracer Main actually you got fooled on the call too he put his hands on the ground to break the fall so he's full body weight was not on him like they do on fake wrestling when they jump from the ropes on someone on the ground they use there hands and knees to break the fall before they land on the person
@Tracer Main You could argue that call in the Vikings 49s game was a bad one. Richardson does actually try to brace himself and not land with his full weight on the QB. The Clay Mathews tackle is exactly what that rule was made for. He had Alex Smith wrapped up all the way to the ground, landing on his shoulder. You can argue that you dont like the rule, but its technically a good call.
@@Jambuc829 riiiiiight. like the opening kickoff? philly comes away from the scrum with the ball but exact words of the ref, "no clear recovery, dallas ball"
@@azury2656 trust me, no one likes the feeling of a blown call deciding a game, regardless of how human it is. Losing team feels cheated and the winning team's victory is cheapened.
I always felt like if there were controversial calls that the refs would have to be a part of a post-game press conference with video footage to answer for their mistakes. If the missed call(s) were blatant then they’d receive either a fine or suspension.
Your missing the point they are told to do this. You see the wrong call but the league sees the right call for their situation. The entire game itself isn’t rigged but when it comes to the end better believe the team that makes them the most money is getting the calls 🤣😆
These bogus calls are just them covering their tracks. They already programmed the fans to keep watching even through the most bullshit calls and non-calls, so now they have gotten even bolder with their awful calls so that you can't even tell which team they are prodding to the victory line. It's all covered up by what now appears to be an actually impossible level of ineptitude from coin toss to the final play.
It’s quite difficult and can only be done from certain positions, like the way linebackers are supposed to tackle a running target, wrap up low and bring them down on their side, you don’t land on them and, for linemen on the interior, this usually can’t be done when hitting the QB.
It was our year. Again. We were the best team in the NFL. Again. It’s why even when this year we have a pretty good team most Saints fans are too afraid to believe in it. Keep worrying about linebacker depth. Not our starters. Our depth.
I was so fucking furious. I was at work screaming “Goddammit! Are fucking kidding me! Again?!?”. Threw and broke my phone at the end of the game. I’m not the person too get that emotionally invested in a game but that was some next level fuckery by the officials.
If I'm the Packers coach, I'd tell him to hit them as hard as possible. Just like how John Thompson just told Patrick Ewing to block any shot, even if it was a goal tending call in basketball.
I'm a Bears fan, but I have to say that all of those calls on Matthews were BS. I want a good rival not a crippled one. Roughing the passer means little more than touching him nowadays after the ball has left his hand for one second, and it sucks. Leave the actual penalties to the blatant interference calls that nobody seems to see downfield.
Aaron Rodgers is completely to blame. If he wasn't such a fucking bitch and didn't cry after Anthony Barr took away his childhood then we wouldn't have stupid fucking rules like this
I like how this video has the Haden play where he didn’t even physically touch the WR was called PI yet the rams play where the dude blindsided and bodied a guy while the ball was in the air a no call
@@jpford3490 we were robbed of the playoffs because of the refs in the chargers and saints could we have played better yes but the refs practically gave you guys two touchdowns in our game as well as with the chargers😭
If the NFL decided to call penalties on every little hit then players will retire of just give up and just stand there. Either get it right or just shut down the NFL for good. It's stupid
I've never played football or ever been much of a football fan, but how are you meant to tackle the quarterback with out landing on him? It baffles me that a full contact sport has a penalty for landing on a player
Its 1 of the dumbest rules in the whole game. I also dont think the quarter backs should be able to slide. If u dont wanna get tackled, get out of bounds or get rid of it
No NFL quarterback should be subjected to cheap toilet paper. As a matter of fact most use moist towelettes as its far superior and cleaner than toilet paper that the normal people are forced to use
Saigo no Kami I remember watching that game live thinking “what the absolute fuck am I watching right now?” That was the second consecutive play the right tackle false started and it wasn’t called either time.
I always felt like if there were controversial calls that the refs would have to be a part of a post-game press conference with video footage to answer for their mistakes. If the missed call(s) were blatant then they’d receive either a fine or suspension.
That last Saints - Rams was the worst no call I've ever seen. Robey said in his interview that the ref said the ball had been tipped. The ball wasn't even close to being tipped. Even if there was no PI that is still blatant helmet to helmet.
Watch the Rams Pats superbowl, when Aaron Donald body slammed brady after the play and the official gave donald a warning. It's still incredibly violent, and surprising still lower percent of passes have RTP's called per year than in the 90's.
As a Packers fan, watching Mike McCarthy chase down that ref is one of my favorite things. I don't miss him as a coach but I sure as shit miss his personality.
It’s more frustrating from the fact that Robey-Coleman was bragging about the no call. Even during the interviews a week after that game he continued to brag about the no call.
How about packers fans think they get screwed by the refs when the packers statistically speaking get the most benefitted by the refs. It is a statistical fact that the packers have the most yards gained by penalties in all of the nfl
@@colino0383 Proof? And so, if that is true that means other teams are playing dirty against the packers. Packers have no relationship with refereeing any way. Packers are not ref biased at all
I think one of the most frustrating things for me are all the roughing the passer penalties because a guy made contact a millisecond after the ball was thrown. These guys train since middle school to get the QB. That’s their whole left. “Get the QB. Get the QB.” When they’re eating breakfast, “Get the QB. Get the QB.” When they’re brushing their teeth, “Get the QB. Get the QB.” It’s all they think about. Physics/momentum exist. What are they supposed to do? Just let him throw it? I understand if the head is the principal point of contact. That makes sense. But you gotta give a guy a couple milliseconds of grace time.
Because, in most teams' best tackler's stat line is only about 2-8 sacks for linebackers, and 5-20 for good D Linemen. Sacks make up an average of about 10-25% of most players' tackles. Sacks and hits on the quarterback really aren't THAT common. Yes, some QBs get sacked 5-7 times in one game, but that one game might have 50+ total tackles, so that 5-7 isnt that much, it just seems significant because sacks are ALWAYS for a loss, while most tackles are NOT for a loss. The QB position is the most taxing, most important, and hardest to produce positive output, consistently for every game. QBs getting injured not only change the offense completely, but it also has potential to change the entire team'sbtrajectory. Which influences ticket sales, views on TV, interest in the team, merch sales, and money put in by the team. A vast majority of the time, QBs ARE defenseless, and it seems, besides linemen, QBs are prone to get injured more often. This is probably why.
The Vikings Niner one is a by-the-book hit they want out. The scoop and dump by the legs can't be done on the QB anymore. Richardson even left his feet
These roughing the passer calls is why Modern Quarterbacks these days stats are ridiculous. This isn’t even real football, it’s just QB’s not being allowed to be touched and Defensive backs not allowed to touch WR’s either. It’s TERRIBLE
As a former Defensive End and a coach, I despise what they are doing to the game. “You can’t use your body weight to fall on top of the QB.” That’s textbook fucking tackling! Hit, wrap up, bring your hips, and drive through the tackle to the ground. How the hell do you expect a D-Lineman or Linebacker to shift their body weight in a split second so as not to fall on top of the QB? Roughing the Passer and Targeting need serious reworking because they are making defensive players’ jobs impossible at this point.
@@noahcarter2730 but the original rule hadn’t been revised up until that point, and the penalty should only be from the neck up. The commentator was saying that’s how the refs are calling it now
refs are like the announcers, changing the rule on the fly "the rule is from the neck up" he hit him in the shoulder pads .... oh wait I know! "from the shoulder pads up, that's the rule!"
@@greninjamastergabe6452 Even the contact with the helmet probably is enough. Again, why do you think the NFL, in the 2020 season, broke the all-time scoring record by over 700 points?
6:31 It's hilarious to hear the commentator talk about Sheldon Richardson "driving him into the ground" when he's holding him up and using his arms and legs to brace himself in order to minimize contact.
Have to admit, the Rough Passer on Matthews (4th one) WAS a bad call. From ref's viewpoint, he may have seen QB's head snap to side a tiny bit, but the hit WAS legal. Clay belted him in the shoulder pad.
QBs signed up to the nfl draft knowing it’s a physical sport and you can get injured any second. QBs are humans too, if someone falls on top of the QB or slaps his arm we don’t have to call a penalty. It just infuriates me when a d-line tackles a RB the same way as a QB but when he tackles the QB it’s a flag
Smuga Boomin A RB expects the hit, and they are tougher than most QBs A blindside hit of that kind can result in severe head injuries, collar bone fractures or twisted ankles Those roughing the passer calls were bullshit, but protecting players from loosing nearly 10-20 years of their life is more important
Steelers were in the playoffs easily if the refs made the right calls. It’s sad that this happened last year cuz the window for a Super Bowl is closing
ManyReasonsGamingHD : P actually that is not true the Steelers had many unfortunate calls from the refs. They lost to the chargers by a touchdown because of the false start. They lost to the saints because of the bad pass interference calls. And I get they could have done some things better but it’s still no excuse
"It's illegal to hit the shoulder pad of the quarterback with your helmet." Umm the shoulder pad is where the most amount of padding is, therefore is the safest place to hit. Also, not putting your body weight on a quarterback is hard when you're 290 lbs and falling
I thought Sean Payton was going to have a stroke right there on the field. How could u NOT see that !! I gave my 70 mom the very basics of what constitutes a PI call, and even she says it was a shitty no call
As a Steelers fan, I feel like a lot of these calls against PIT are the football gods paying us back for all those favorable whistles in the Seattle super bowl. Fair enough. I’ll take the ring 😂
12:07 when DB hit Lewis without playing the ball takes the cake by FAR! I'm still pissed about the NO CALL. Robbed of the Super Bowl. Goodell should've over turned that.
@@Brimstone-Gaming imagine one ref saying “penalty, defence, you cant tackle someone who is black while you are white.” That would have been hella racist
I love how in the NFL they call it roughing the passer when some of these roughing the passer calls the guy tackling the qb had already committed to a tackle before he throws the ball and connects the hit a fraction of a second after the ball is gone.
What is so galling about these ridiculous roughing the passer calls is that it's not about player safety. It's about protecting ownership's investment.
To clarify the rule, since it's still in effect. You CAN land on the qb. What you cannot do is leave your feet to drive them into the ground. Just wrap them up and fall, or wrap them up and twist but they will call you for launching and driving them to the ground
Being an NFL Ref is an extremely hard job, You have to keep the fans, The league, The Broacsting networks, AND the betting companies all happy with the outcome of the game
12:05 i was in vegas when this game was going on back in 2018, everyone in the casino was calling bullshit on the call, not to mention the rams winning a game they shouldn't have
Michael MACCHIA bruh the Saints and Patriots woulda been a way better Super Bowl last year the rams didn’t even get a SINGLE touchdown sure ur defense was good BUT U GOTTA SCORE SOME POINTS
Part of the reason for this falling on the QB rule is way back in 2000, AFC Championship Game, Ravens at Raiders, it was legal back then, but Tony Saragusa sacked Rich Gannon of the Raiders and fell on him breaking his collar bone and knocking him out of the game. Thus, that one play ended up sending the Ravens to the Super Bowl as the Raiders, favored to win, were left with a backup QB and were then held to just three points at home for the entire game. Losing a QB is not only a game but season changer. Just the way it is, they are the REAL franchise players.
