He does recall what happened but refuses to talk about it. Have you ever wondered why he can remember meeting and talking with Elvis three times. He goes into great detail about meeting with the King. I know Elvis is the greatest and I am a huge Elvis fan. But if Plant can remember that he surely remembers everything and everybody that was in his life.
This is the truth. I started going into bars and served alcohol when I was 15 years old in 1972. I don't remember ever being asked or ID'd even once. Young guys didn't get in but the girls sure did.
@@vtv123here6 yeah definitely, it would be nice if we were able to take all the fun parts of the 70s and have them now but leave all the bad parts. That’s just wishful thinking tho I know it will never happen
It's really sad in a poetic kind of way to hear groupies talk of the "love" they got. They don't realize they were used and thrown away for the next ones in the next town.
@@aestechtic7608 they all loved it today's groupies come out 10 years later and say there victims looks what happening to dahvie vanity now as we speak
Plenty of adults confuse sex with love and intimacy. This was a 14 year old, whose only experiences of sex, appeared to be as a transaction, effectively pimped out to rock stars.
It's crazy. Lori was a 13 year old girl, from a broken home with an absent father and inattentive mother who was used then left behind by several rich, famous rock stars. She quit school, she got involved with drugs. It took her a long time to crawl out of that hole. What exactly is it about this scenario that you envy?
What? how can you blame men for that?? doesn't she have moral or values? didn't people warn her all the time? give me a friggin break. get this "women can do no wrong" lie out of your head.
The Great One TRUE LMAOOO someone on instagram tried to tell me the times were different as an excuse when I started questioning the fact james hetfield dated a 12 and 13 year old when he was 19/20/21/22. it doesn’t fucking matter if it was 1950s or 1980s. it’s fucking disgusting
Lori actually has aged well considering she had virtually no adult supervision growing up and became a groupie, used to see her and Sable Starr at different clubs in Hollywood
I say the truth even though it hurts this simpleton. She's gorgeous, more now in this clip then at age 14 when they were hot and heavy. When Jimmy dumped her it was on!. She went ape on some more age appropriate Be Be Buelle, a gorgeous blonde who was a talented musician. Tore her hair out and stuff. Really showed how desperate she was. Gross. I think he made a good decision, finally. Anyway, saw a newer clip of her & Pamela Debarre in a bar talking and both had gained a lot of weight. Lori looked, well nowhere near good. Alls well that ends well. I guess. I think I'm glad I'm not into that competitive rock scene.
Hey Az, I'm not saying anything about her sleeping with other men-you are, that makes YOU the bitch, not me. I'm saying how gorgeous she became, that's flattery and true. She did go ape when he dumped her. That is very sad and I would not wish that on anybody. Makes me glad I've never crossed paths with the rock crowd. A 14 year old is too young to deal with a sick 28 year old man's head games. She didn't deserve any of it. So Az, you want to mince words with this 6 foot tall Texas bitch, it's on whore. I'll pummel your fugly face in anywhere. This discussion isn't about you or me, but a lady much older than us both, so pick it wisely dumbass. You don't know her and you don't know me. So how stupid are you willing to get??
Most rock songs at the time celebrated young teens like Stray Cat Blues by the Stones and Young Girl by the Union Gap...and Zep's songs were full of those allusions like Sick Again..."someday you're reach 16"...and the Houses of the Holy and Blind Faith album and no one peeped then. Strange.
Oh, and to any who claim this wasn't going on, Pamela DeBarre confined their stories in her book, at the time was grossed out by how young the baby groupies were. She said Bowie came to town, and Lori appeared to be 'holding court' at her hotel, and Bowie stayed with her for a week. So no, Lori isn't lying about all this, there were enough pictures and witnesses. And if she is a liar now, it is testament to why you should not let your daughter get passed around like a joint by entitled, grandiose musicians and singers when she is just fourteen years old.
I remember in her book Pamela deBarre was jealous of the younger girls, because of course all the guys preferred them over the "older" (20 something) girls. She talks about the night she was on a "date" with Jimmie and how he dumped her for Lori and she was pretty upset over being dumped, and the fact that she mentions Lori was "holding court", like this tween was getting all the attention, she viewed Lori and the baby groupies as competition..you can see the disdain in Pamela's face when she talks about it in interviews, and not disdain for the men but disdain for these young girls taking away the attention from her!!
Amazing how memories get so fuzzy when confronted with an infamous story. You know they had their fun with her but as the decades passed they weren't so proud anymore.
You can't believe anything that Lori spews. In another interview she said that she went to Jimmy willingly after he saw her picture in a magazine and wanted to meet her.
I think she lives in fantasy land haha. You can see the lies in her face whenever she gives an interview. The 'David Bowie' incident never happened. Jimmy used her whenever she was in town , then got sick of her and she moved on to others like the New York Dolls.. she was a whore and he was a user... simple as! and she's just spun a web of lies to get her 15 minutes
+Yimello Probably partly has to do with the abuse she encountered and wanting to monetize her experiences. This is really sad and disgusting. I feel bad for the way she's laughing it off, because she clearly doesn't realize how serious and predatory the entire situation was.
Of course she was happy. It was the thrill of having a dream come true. That's her reality. She wasn't feeling like a "victim" That girl was probably feeling more powerful than she ever had in her life at the thought that this star wanted her so much. That would be heady as hell for a 14 year old, music mad girl.
Yes that kidnapping thing is soooo great when someone you like kidnapps you. I bet he wouldn’t proceed if things weren’t right and she didn’t like him. It’s kind of a kink. That shows Jimmy had style.
This is 8 years late but yeah I also notice that. An article even pointed out that details in her story keep changing. A lot of times she contradicts her past interviews.
I couldn't even bring myself to date an 18-19yo when I was 26-27. I understand there's always been a blurring of lines with artists going all the way back to the Romantic poets, but goddamn dude. Anyone ever wonder if these artists are just a bit fucked up and that's why they're artists, but also why they're ethically elastic? I'm sure all the drugs only fuel the mental gymnastics one would have to engage in to rationalize pursuing someone half their age. Btw everyone should listen to the interview in which Quentin Tarantino openly defends Roman Polanski drugging and raping a thirteen year-old.
My deceased brother looked a lot like Plant. He loved Zeppelin. When he passed, I was looking through his bible and the words to Stairway to Heaven dropped out. Maybe he knew he was leaving us. 1981. We would drop our needles on our stereos to a Zeppelin song at the same time in our townhome and drive the bitchy neighbors crazy. God I miss the good ole days. TY Led Zeppelin for many memories
She was his hook-up in L.A., I mean how often did she get to see him. Come on, back in the seventies everybody at my high school wanted to be a groupie. There was this mystique about these musicians(Jimmy Page)that made us not care that these men were so much older than us.
I know what I experienced witnessing culture in the late 1980's and throughout the 1990's. It was other level stuff. People can't and won't ever understand. It was unreal...and very much at the same time.
The thing is he didn't keep her locked up. There are pics of them out together, and she admitted to being at their LA shows. Jimmy never took her out of LA. Also he didn't keep her around for years. Jimmy only saw her when he was in LA during the 72/73 tour. I think Lori dramatizes the story either because it helps her cope or because it gets her more attention.
@@LucyAyler Defenitely! On one hand we should all believe Lori about the statutory SA but on the other we can not confirm at all what exactly happened so we won't get any real #metoo against Page. She was a professional groupie and made a lot of her later income off these stories so they had to stay interesting. She's told about 20 different stories about how she met Page, most of which do not involve kidnapping of any kind. Depending on the media outlet she is talking to, her stories are framed either as 'poor exploited little girl' or 'creepy wet dream'. For example: 1. in another story she seduced Jimmy together with fellow underage groupie Sable Starr after meeting at a disco and they both lose their virginities in a bisexual threesome with the man. 2. In yet another story Sable threatens Lori's life with a knife when she tries to approach Jimmy and she heroically gets the 'man of her dreams' anyway by being sexier than Star. 3. One of the most confusing: she thought she was a lesbian and only went with Jimmy because of his 'feminine qualities' after which she continued frquenting him because he opened her eyes to a whole new world lol So yeah, absolutely statutory rape but it's pretty unlikely that he literally had her locked up somewhere, especially considering the sheer amount of pictures and groupie stories existing of her with other stars (Bowie, Jagger, Pop...) in the timeframe she names for her kidnapping.
He was probably one of the most beautiful men in rock, n back then, thing's were just different.. If I had been her I would have also been there.. Jimmy used to buy his girl's clothes n lots of great stuff.. He was very kind.. Great story.. 🎶🤗🎵
Lori Mattix (sometimes known as Maddox) says she was just 14 when she lost her virginity to David Bowie. Her next lover was Jimmy Page. Now 59, she says she never thought of herself as a groupie, but tells me that the affair with Page was “the most beautiful pure love I thought I could ever feel. I’d only had sex once before in my whole life. I felt like I’d won the lottery.” She juxtaposes it with other experiences “where men have harassed me … it’s a different thing when you allow someone to be with you”. Lori was living with her mom and sneak out with gf to some of seediest bars where the "rockstars' ( fame, glory, money, power = chick magnet.Like Mick Jagger said "I didn't ask her for drivers license"
She's already changed her story to being 15 when David Bowie supposedly took her virginity, but she'd already been on tour with LZ by then. I don't believe anything she says unless there's witnesses or other evidence to back it up.
She is remembering back 50 years after a life of drugs and alcohol. Led Zeppelin slept with a lot of minors. The minors weren't taking notes.@@corn9251
If you all read the book "Hammer of the Gods" it explains that the shark was actually a red snapper. This clip it was mentioned "snapper." It was because she had red hair and it was a red snapper. Also it was John Bonam and their manager Peter Grant. The story with Lori and Page was yes she was 14 and he was 23 24. Her parents also gave their blessing. Obviously if Page was not a wealthy rock God I'm sure her parents would have thought differently. Plus only weird parents would allow their teen daughter to be in a magazine like that. Fame and fortune does weird things to people. Read the story behind Drew Barrymore and Brooke Shields.
yes i for what i remembered it was bonzo, cole and grant and someone else page was not there and plant and jpj hightaled, that why plant said he can’t remember again he shows integrity☝🏻
These girls would lie about their age too. This wasn't a one way street of famous musicians chasing down 14 year olds. These guys would bag 5 girls a night sometimes. I mean if you were Jimmy page you could walk into a room and just stand there and the girls would be begging for you to sleep with them. This is how it was. The musicians didn't have time or a care to check their I.D. lol.
God I'm laughing my ass off:"They were together for several years" what the fuuck, the thing is that Page was a player who knew how to make himself liked and loved because he seemed nice and gentle but the thing was that he made fools out of those girls and they are still so happy about their "relationships" with him and I think it's just sad...I know guys who act just like this and it's actually quite easy to recognize them but I feel sorry for the girls mostly.
mihaela cherciu Page was also heavily under the influence of narcotics, alcohol etc... In his photo journal, he never mentions any of these girls. It was a different time then, one of incredible excess and yes, it’s sad that these girls believe they were muses. They were diversions from life on the road.
he literally watched bebe and lori fight in the hallway of a hotel bc she caught him in bed with bebe. he was laughing. jimmy didn’t bother to stop it because he was amused
"He was a beautiful person and he touched my life." Yet, she admits to being kept a prisoner in the hotel, she was underage, and Page would not let her have any life of her own. Yeah, he really was a "beautiful person."
How men can talk and smirk about what they participated in either directly or indirectly with said girl without hanging their heads in shame is utterly astounding. Seared conscience.
This happened in 1971-1973. It is now 2017. If Lori or her parents wanted to press charges, they could have done so long ago. But they didn't. People really need to give this a rest.
The problem with Lori is her stories never have a date. If she mentions the year or something we'd know for sure. I know the day Jimmy dumped her because there are photos of that night with the date mentioned. At the Swan Song Label Launch party in 1974 she caught him cheating on her with Playboy model Bebe Buell. I just badly wanna know the day he 'kidnapped' her. Firstly I don't get why she says kidnap. In that documentary she's all like she loved it and still says the word kidnapped -_-
Zoe Kouf Liv wouldnt be as popular and she wouldnt be an actress and model if her father was Jimmy though. She wouldnt even be Liv anyways, she would be a Page.
Jimmy wasn't with her for several years. He only saw her when he was in LA on tour. I think he liked Lori more than the average groupie though. But Jimmy had soooo many groupies and he doesn't speak well of any of them now, even Lori.
lol but she acts as if she were kidnapped, when i've read about how she cried and was "desperate" for jimmy, going to look for him and she apparently tore the hair out from another chick jimmy was seeing from what IVE READ.
I've seen another interview from Lori saying that she was a fan of Zeppelin and Jimmy told someone to find her for him cause he had seen her on a magazine.... Soooooo she's lying about something cause those are 2 completely different stories....
Thats pretty much what lori said, she just did not mention that she was already was a fan, and probobly perhaps didnt even know of jimmy page as being a member of that band. It was a vague description I agree. I make mad money and fuck bitches.
As a gen-xer it really disgusts me that this is what the whole decade viewed as living the life and the rock and roll lifestyle. Punk was against that whole mindset along with the neo psychedelia/alternative bands of the late' 80's early 90's and shoegaze too. Women should be in bands too and not make it a "thing". The Go-Go's were basically a pop female version of this whole "Rock and roll debauchery" mindset. They though were female misogynists that that was somehow "taking their power back".
The man who abducted that groupie ,Lori was Richard Cole. He and Lori still contact. But Jimmy does not want to meet any of ex-groupies. Jimmy never loved them, just used girls on the road like many other rockers. Lori should learn that. She should not use his name for money and her (fake) fame.
Girls always just pretend they don't like it as much as men and the ones who play coy hard at the beginning are the ones that want it the most. Not a very popular opinion in 2018 but let's face it is true. But Page was taking a huge risk because she was only 14 years old. He could have went to jail for a long time.
This might sound dumb... But did those young groupie girls dropout of highschool? Or did they just hangout on the sunset strip on the weekend/whenever the bands came.
Richard Cole We never viewed those girls as 14yrs old, None of those girls were 14yrs old." Bullshit Richard, everybody who's read up on Zeppelin knows about Jimmy's obsession for Lori Maddox. The rock stars of today don't have that kind of power Jimmy had. If Jimmy wanted something, somebody, HE GOT IT/THEM...
Danielle Dumont In 1970s Los Angeles, it was a different universe than today. A 14 year old girl having sex with four men twice her age at the same time could actually convince herself and others that it was liberating. The police and many parents were like "we don't care about these teenage wastoids."
Lori's mother was allegedly an Talent Agent on the scene at the time and effectively threw her daughter upon famous, rich rock stars. Who were much older. She apparently didn't have a problem with her daughter sleeping with or hanging around rocks stars. Lori said in an Interview that Jimmy asked her mothers permission to see her and her mother fully agreed. So her mum was fully aware of what Lori was up to. Figures?
Regarding the Edgewaer Hotel in Seattle mud shark incident: It was Led Zeppelin's tour manager Richard Cole (by his own account) and some redheaded slut groupie tied to a bed -- and it was a red snapper fish, not a mud shark. Not Jimmy, not Robert, but surprisingly it actually John Bonham in the room while it all took place; though everyone else's band claims to have been there to gain notoriety of some kind ... and I am not sure that Bonzo actually participated in the incident.
This is FABulous!!! I know Carmine Appice (my Late Husband worked with John Lennon and grew up with Vinny Martell and Carmine, and they were much older than myself), and Carmine told me that Decadence was their gift [Vanilla Fudge]. If I hadn't Married my Late Husband, I wouldn't have met all these people, and have Paulie 'Ace Frehley write, and Record a Song about me, just on sight, and gave me the Rights to it. I am too young to have been a part of that Scene, but it was Decadence. "Keep the Boys happy, and that's all that matters", was the Credo. Mud Sharks, piles of shaving cream to slide down naked at the Hyatt [Riot] House and much more was part of it all. But we got the Greatest Music Ever. Thank You!!!
I just watched another documentary, where Lori Maddox was filmed telling, a different story. She was modeling and Page saw her photos. He asked to meet her. She went to the Hyatt (Riot) hotel. She was excited to meet him and fell instantly in love. She never once used the term kidnapped or said she was under lock and key. It's a fact, at 14 years old, she was regular at 3 different Sunset Strip rock bars and the (Riot) Hotel. Before meeting Page, she was already part of the rock groupie scene.
@luckygirl8879 I'm not blaming the girls. I'm simply stating that we are all responsible for our actions. If I had raped, abused or taken advantage of the dozens of girls who threw themselves at me in the 70s, when I was a short, skinny, young teenage Rocker kid with glasses, would I not have been responsible for my actions, because of my undeveloped prefrontal cortex? I turned a lot of the more innocent and love struck girls away, because I didn't want to break anyone's heart, but it certainly wasn't easy to be a "nice guy" in the 70s Rocker culture. Girls would knock on my door in the middle of the night and I would send them home and remind them that my parents were trying sleep. They would come back another time, knock on my window, crawl inside my room, take off both of our clothes and start having sex with me. No invitation, no phone calls and I hadn't even actively hit on them or strongly flirted with them. A few times, girls would suddenly remember that they had a boyfriend, whom they never told me about and they would burst into tears during sex which was 100% planned, premeditated and initiated by the girls. Now, all of a sudden I'm a 16 year old psychologist, telling them not to feel too guilty about cheating on the guy or lying to me or showing up unannounced and uninvited and basically jumping my bones. I would tell them, we all make mistakes and not to beat themselves up about it. I would send them home and tell them to go patch things up with their boyfriends. But, according to you, I could've taken advantage of their conflicted mental states and I could've talked them into finishing what they started and I wouldn't have been responsible, because of my conveniently undeveloped prefrontal cortex. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to excuse or white knight for groupies or let's try to be respectful and we'll call them uninhibited young ladies. I was responsible enough as a teenage boy enough to use condoms even when the girls asked me not to. I was responsible enough to choose to have sex with girls whom I felt, had some chance of becoming my girlfriend or with girls who were very sexually experienced and clearly not interested having steady boyfriends. I went out of my way to actively try not be a heartbreaker, like some of my male friends and to try to at least be friends with the girls whom I slept with rather than just "humpin and dumpin" which was very common back in the day. Even the girls did it to the guys. You seem to be saying that because of my young age, I wasn't responsible for at least trying to be responsible during an EXTREMELY wild time in our history. I could have been a complete man-whore and had sex with girls who were still crying about cheating on their boyfriends or I could've talked them into finishing what they started and I would've been covered under the "undeveloped prefrontal cortex clause, article 507.103". Some people have no idea what it was like back then. Several years ago, I went to a barbecue with a bunch of friends from high-school whom I hadn't seen in 30 years. All of them were married. We were joking around and laughing about the fact that half of us slept with each other in high school. Like, I said, I'm not excusing grown men, who sleep with teenage girls, but I'm also not excusing teen girls who quite literally throw their naked bodies on top of guys, who never even asked them for it. Now, just to be clear, I don't think it's wrong for teen girls to be as horny and sexually active as teen boys, but we are all responsible for our actions as teenagers.
I don’t think they’re trying to shift the blame yall I think they’re saying the version of events and time frames are different lori is known to tell different versions of stories abt her time in the 70s she said she lost her virginity to David bowie at 15 but also says she had to be available for sex while with Jimmy at 14
@timmotel5804 Exactly! And there's nothing wrong with that. Some people just don't understand the lengths that some of these girls went through to hook up with Rockstars or even just regular guys like me. I read an article once and some people wouldn't believe the amount of planning those girls did to get a night away from their parent, miles away from home in another city, all dolled up I'm make and clothes that they're parents wouldn't let them wear, going entrance to over 21 clubs and then getting themselves introduced to Rockstars. And this was all planned by girls who were unde Young girls can be very clever. I remember one girl in junior high school, who wanted to spend the night with me. I said, "How? I'm on restriction. I can't leave the house." She said, I'll tell my mom that I'm staying at my friends house and I'll climb in your window at night." She was the first of many girls to do that. Later that night, after we had sex. I said, "What's if my mom comes into my room in the morning? Can you go sneak into your girlfriend's room and crash?" She said, "No, stupid. Just get me a pillow and a blanket, and I'll sleep in your closet when we get tired." We were both 13 years old. She was way ahead of me in terms of devious teenager strategy. Those young teenage girls had more plans than an architect. Their schemes were more devious than the boys' and usually less dangerous. I didn't reach that level of teenage caper planning until at least two years later.
It was a different time. Now that shit wouldn't fly at all, but back then, somewhat it did. Like every other rockstar did the same as well. Even then those girls came to the hotels in clothes that made 'em look way older than they actually were; they knew what they were doing...
Yeah, Jimmy didn't treat the groupies well at all. They way he tossed Lori and pamela aside when he was done with them was really heartless. I also think Cole loved Lori, not Jimmy. It's pretty obvious reading his book. Explains alot too.
I get the impression that Cole was probably a lot more of a creep than anyone knows. Everything about him was dodgy, definitely some skeletons in his closet.
@@therock-a-roller rubbish they deserve all the blame in the world. You acting as if sleeping with underage women was not illegal back then. Page knew what he was doing was wrong that’s why he kept Lori Maddox locked in a room because he knew he would go to jail if the cops caught him.
0_0 whoa just another thing that makes the 70's so esoteric, and mystical. This could never happen today to a very successful band. Robert is always so witty, and colorful words that slippery bastard xD And Pagie the pimp heheh. Is Bonzo Italian LOL he never gets caught with anything. I guess Jonesy is an MI6 agent with a 00 rating seeing as how he is never mentioned, remembered, or has a solid alibi. I think I'll get a teenage girl now.
that shark story was actually a red snapper that i heard from the book richard cole wrote about led zeppelin where they put a red snapper up her red snapper
@popwarskatemore7 Travelling Riverside Blues...awesome song, wasn't released until the box set came out back in 1990, along with a video on MTV, which was awesome as well! Cheers.
Robert said Pamela's book was part of the LZ "mythos". Maybe that was his nice way of admitting it wasn't 100% accurate. Robert slept with his share of 13 year old girls too but he never gets called out on it, which isn't really fair. And Robert always seemed to be much nicer to the girls even now than Jimmy ever was. Read the lyrics to Sick Again and you can see.
Shark thing happened on 7/27/1969. I was not only at Zep's gig in Cleveland, under this huge tent just a few nights before, 7/20/69 (the night of the first moon landing!), but was in the *tiny* dressing room before the show. My fellow guitar player friend's dad was a reporter for the Cle Plain Dealer, was doing an interview, and got us in. There was no room, jammed up on eachother, I was squeezed between Bonham and Page. My GF at the time was totally loving this! I believe she peed her panties.
When you see the footage of Zeppelin backstage at Albert Hall (with Jeff Beck, too!) in 1970 it looks cramped. I can't imagine it in smaller venues. Jesus.
@euphemismsfordeath Lori told that story about a second fling with Jimmy in the 80's for a few years than stopped once people called her out on it. She also used to say that Jimmy married Patricia only because she was pregnant (their son was born two years after the marriage) and Bonham visited her in LA in 81 (he died in 1980). There are alot of holes in her stories. What makes you believe this one?
JImena is much different form Lori Maddoxn in fact!To begin with,Jimmy never fell in love with Maddox. She was just easy for every musicians who visited LA in those days. Can you seriously believe Jimmy Page loved groupies???He just used them on the road.
It's the 'if I only knew then what I know now' mentality I think alot of women experience as they get older. The self empowerment and confidence that goes with it. Maybe I wouldn't take things back, just do them a bit differently. But what a great time to be young, huh? The music, the partying, the gorgeous long haired men. Plant and Page are still HOT
Robert &JPJ were the tamest of the band. They only indulged in weed & alcohol. The only band member that came to the funeral for Roberts son that died was his Bff Bonzo. That hit Robert hard. He didn't know if he even wanted to stay with the band after that. I don't blame him. He said he thought they were his friends. Friends don't do BS like that
