I love how the video is more fast paced than your normal style, but it still has your genuine touch to it. Fantastic editing as usual. Every ounce of energy is paid off on this one. I love your positive forward attitude. This may not be a philosophical video, but it brings a smile and spotlight to the collecting scene. Side note: loved the fist bump and high five rumble edits
I had no idea I have been watching your videos and haven't been subscribed. Really enjoyed this one, you seem like the perfect dude to just to talk everything gaming/music/movies with over a couple of beers.
Your stuff is always the best Mort. Awesome production quality and you're a natural on camera. One of the few gaming channels that really makes me laugh too
That edit of the truck driving off the cliff when the announcement for your vehicle came on made me laugh so hard. I love your channel man, keep it up.
I'm watching the video but I'm also answering the question of the title. Its a topic we typically stay quiet about because it ruffles feather but just in our personal experience it hasn't improved our local market. One of our fav pawn shops have just started increasing their prices on switch games because they have so many resellers snatching them up and jacking up the prices. Its sad really. I can't blame the pawn shop because they need to have games available to draw people in and why shouldn't they reap the rewards. They've been in business many many years and I would like to see them stay in business many many more. Don't get me wrong Mort. I really enjoyed the video and I love what you're doing with the community. It'll be a hard sell for me to ever be pro reseller BUT I can certainly appreciate that you're selling below price charting and that you're not increasing the market value. Not to mention I realize by doing this you're not taking away from your family's budget and you're adding to your own personal collection. It's such an emotional gray area for me because some of my favorite channels are resellers. I sound like such a hypocrite LOL 😂😂 It was a really great feel good video. Loved all the giveaways. You put the smiles on the faces. Thats always good stuff
So I just have to say after watching the first give away. There was a simple answer that he could of gave to get Gabbos approval, he should of just said "I'm turning in my brown card". Mort I know it's a long drive but you need to travel to Minnesota to sell. Who knows maybe at some point I will book a expo and try and invite you out.
Awesome to see a new video notification Mort. That being said dang dude, some amazing sponsors on the videos, and another incredible giveaway at a show for sure. You truly have and continue to bless and gift so many people. Truly enjoy watching you content, and bravo on the funds you made to go towards the manual. As incredible as you and the channel are, it always gets brought to a new level with all the amazing guest - Riff, Gabbo, Ricky, Dan & Elisa (which funnily enough are the people that first introduced me to you through there channel, so a HUGE Thank You to them for that). Awesome video as per the norm from you, keep up all the amazing work and can't wait to see the next one - I know it will surely be as EPIC as this one. Cheers. #Roadto30k
Hey Mort, it's been a minute. Just spent all morning catching up on your last 7 videos. What a great series. And the funds are building. Slowly! Such an expensive manual. Some of your best seller events too. Great to see. 🤜🤛
Here's the deal with resellers that no one ever talks about. Every collectible or commodity in the world has arbitrage and resellers. Where there is a buck to be made, people are going to find it. ... and most people are OK with paying a premium to resellers in most fields because they are happy to pay for the work the reseller puts into sourcing and testing the product. The issue with game collectors is that they AREN'T willing to pay that premium for the sourcing and testing... because they want to do it themselves. For a lot of video game collectors, they aren't only upset about the increased price... they are upset at the resellers because they are stealing something important from them.... the hunt.
Resellers provide liquidity to the retro games market. Imagine a market dominated by collectors. You wouldn't be able to find desirable items as they would be accrued and kept in storage. On the rare occasions where they do come up, you would have to pay a premium on them. USA is a market that has a market with both resellers and collectors. I live in a country where the retro games market is predominantly collectors. Most items here are 20-50% above eBay value.
Mort lol you’re the BEST I was feeling a bit sick today and then that edit of your “car” flying off the cliff cracked me up and now I feel a bit better you’re awesome!! 😊❤️💪💪💪
As a reseller I can safely say that 90% of my customers are collectors. I only sell to other resellers for bulk sales. I think the "there are only resellers" idiom is just a correlation of the frustration from the COVID price boom.
I don’t know, that would be interesting to try and calculate. I’m curious what you’d think about the conclusions I’ve argued so far in the series this video is a part of (Finish the Hunt)
Sounds just like trading cards. Anything that is collectible will have more collectors than users/player just because collecting is more accessible. Any collectible that has high demand will have lots of reseller. If resellers are able to find these games at a price where they can make money on it then that means you too can find these games under market price.
Nah. Resellers sure think they good for the community, but it's not like games didn't get sold before we became overrun with people getting between the places selling games and the people who want to play and/or collect them. At times it just seems like there are so many resellers that buying trends are just resellers buying and selling off each other while trying to speculate what will become valuable.
Speculation can indeed drive up prices, but I do think there are many of us out here enjoying the grind of hunting and having fun with the community that surrounds it. Take care, and thanks for commenting :)
Did that guy put his beer down on your games?!?! That's a huge pet peeve for me. At one convention some idiot put an open cup of coffee down on some boxed NES games.
@@MortsGarage right at the start. :45. Unless there's a lid on your container. I hope there was a lid! Other than that, it looked like a great event. I'll have to check it out some time.
I'll be real Mort is the only reseller channel I watch . Just having the story behind getting the manual gets people to care ..other than oh look here is much money someone made yay..
wow, riff isn’t even 40 yet? i’m 43 today. and boy do i feel it. got off work and came home and recaulked my shower. yay me. at least now i get to relax and watch some awesome videos.

Watching Mort's Garage has caused my car insurance to go down. Mort's Garage provides great value for the excellent content. Subscribe now and you to can save on your car insurance!
Definitely Not. Would you rather pay $5 for a game or $100?? The answer is obvious lol. It is annoying, and has made the entry point difficult and annoying for sure. But you can either whine about it, or join them. There are still great deals to be found, we just need to be hyperaware. If you don't resell yourself, then you should just be okay paying the ridiculous prices to be honest. Yes I have resold and that is how I fund my hobby and get a "free" game collection. However, I do it because it is fun for me, not because it is a business. In my opinion it would be extremely difficult to make this a full time business as even getting inventory at a reasonable price is not common. To the people who say that, "you should leave the good deals/games you don't need for other to find." The world simply does not work that way. I have found gold for cheap in my retro pursuit, some games that I already have, doubles. Silent Hill 2 on ps2 twice for $5 complete, Silent Hill 1 cib for $2, Xenosaga 2 for $5, complete Snes games for $5 a piece. Did I feel bad? No because whoever claims that they are gonna leave the good deals for the next person to find is lying.
This is an incredibly reasonable response - thank you for the thoughtful comment. I don't entirely agree with your first sentiment (thanks to the amount of resellers for example, we have lots of events that gather people together and facilitate a community, etc) but in general I think this is a really rational take. CHEERS!
@@MortsGarage You're welcome Mort! I think your channel is fun and amusing. Cheers! When you do find a great deal, it makes you savor it and appreciate it even more lol. I would like to also add that Resellers in general are USUALLY (NOT ALWAYS) Jerks with an inflated ego which adds to the negative perception and experience.
Resellers a scum of the earth. If you don’t need a game / want it for your collection don’t buy it, leave it for the next person. people say “it helps me fund my hobby” ripping off people who genuinely want to just collect the games they love is predatory disguised as collecting is messed up. These are the people who like to go complete in box sets and tell people how much they are worth. Utterly mental. Get a job so you can afford to pay for your hobby instead of trying to rip somebody else off based on the premise of it costs x amount on pricing and eBay when you got it for less.
I appreciate your response and agree that some resellers can be exploitative of others. But I still enjoy interacting with people, many of whom have become friends, convincing companies to let me give away free games and items (and cash), and giving deals where I can. Not everyone is as scummy as you think :)
@@MortsGarage I appreciate your response you dirty reseller (joking). I meant only half of what I wrote and most of it was in jest. Interesting question though :)
I will! But kind of. Josh (my podcast partner) will be coming as well and our plan is to podcast from the booth, so please feel free to stop over and get on camera!
I’m not worthy… I’m not worthy 🙌 My 6yr old son is going to loose his mind speechless seeing you IRL. He’s my flea market picking partner and finds your videos hilarious! 😂 Where do I buy your merch? That Morts Garage trucker hat looks sweet!?
@@jameskm03 How kind! Message me on instagram for hats, but we are hoping tomorrow to have a bevy of new and fun t-short designs as well on our etsy store!
always excited to get a notification that a new mort video is out and like always super fun vid ! hopefully soon i can attend one of these events so i can say hi and buy some games love ya mort !!! 😁
I don’t understand how people complain about reselling. When there is litearlly 100’s of other ways to buy whatever game or collectible you want. They’re literally showing us how to come across some of these games for cheap pawn shops garage sales Facebook marketplace. Some folks don’t want it bad enough and just want to cry and complain soft ass generation.
Now strictly limited games has been bending switch owners over by scamming them. The fact they've now gone into heavy marketing with RU-vidrs while holding money hostage is wild. Nothing against you mort id take whatever sponsorship but damn it's crazy if you go on the reddit all the scummy crap.
Haven't seen anything, but they've been great to work with on my end. It's unfortunate top hear others are not having great experiences. Also - they gave me these games to give away a couple months ago, just needed to wait for the right event.
Bro didn't drop his channel when you asked why he deserved the game and said he was trying to start a small channel! haha I would have checked it out!!
