"Someone got a gold star!" Marvel Legends Controller Build-a-Figure Review 

Now that I read the brand new Iron Man run.. I want this Controller. So accurate to the comic run.

This is a rare wave for me where the BAF and the Wave are both amazing. If the figures all are as good as they look in hand, this will be my favorite wave of Legends of all time.

Velcro! It's the wonder of velcro that you see molded on the hand that hold the control discs! ;-) I think you were fair enough in your review, making good points, but 3.5 does seem a bit low. Ok, when I think about it, it's lower because it's a BAF. If it had been stand-alone figure at a reasonable price, it would have been good. Speaking of which, I don't even remember reading a comic with the Controller but that face is very good with the sculpted cracks. At least, they didn't just paint them! I like the blue variations on the costume, that's rare on Marvel Legends, and I wish it was done a lot more. I also quite like the dark metallic blue. So basically, weirdly, overall, it's better than I thought. Won't run to the store to get all the figures of the wave, though. ;-) Thanks for the review.

I'll admit, Controller wasn't at the TOP of my top 10 villains to be done, but I'm happy to received him in my collection! I know there's a lot of reuse for his figure, but that's ok. If they'd made a deluxe figure for $40 to $50 I wouldn't get him, but a BAF...since I love the wave's figures anyway...sure, why not! I am always up for Hasbro 'going further and better', but I'm also up for them getting more comic-based figures out. Example: Serpent Society...it got started and...DIED. Thunderbolts figures...DIED. Monsters and weird things (magic, realms, beings), other than Sleepwalker and Dormamu...DIED. Hope they get back to things with them. Serpent Society has SO MANY available villains to choose from....and most all are relatively easy to do (Asp, Black Mamba, Diamondback, Rattler) then you get like Bushmaster and Anaconda for the large, chunky, difficult (BAF/Deluxe) figures to make. Anyway, as always, great job Dave!

This felt like more of a review of the character and his design versus the figure.

Thanks for the video. Controller doesn't look like a bad BAF but just adequate. Maybe he'll go for cheap on the secondary and make good custom fodder.

That blue gradient deco is nice.

Keep the B List villains coming! I think if this was just a regular released figure it would be great, but it's def. a disapointing BAF.

I love old school Iron Man villains, so this is right up my alley, but I can see how others would be "who is this guy?" Now Marvel Legends needs to make a Unicorn, 80s Crimson Dynamo, Vanguard, and Sunturion!

Everybody's entitled to their own opinion but this is a great figure. It actually shares very little reuse with Thanos and the parts that it does share makes sense because that's exactly what he look like in the comic. I think it's great that we get these obscure villains and they come out looking so great. I hope we continue to get figures like this.

Loved your video Dave. If I may add my 2 CAN cents worth - I think Hasbro ML is giving us those details we were accustomed to in the Deluxe line now. I have seen a trend over the last couple of years where Hasbro using the comic-based BAFs to hit those big guys otherwise would not be purchased on their own. Figures such as the Kree Sentry, Xemnu, Mr. Hyde, Armadillo, Stilt Man etc are not classified as characters you'd think are deserving of the deluxe treatment. I really don't mind this method. I would rather get the next Blob or Terrax or Absorbing Man in a Deluxe format next because in my eyes its better. And as far as the BAFs go, heck, I am an old f@rt comic book guy, these "D-listers" are the ones I love (just read IM #53 54 this a.m. ahahahaha)

In the comics their is a panel where he is making a big crazy face which would be fun

Hard for me to share a dead accurate comment considering I don’t have one in hand but here goes. I see some of what your sayin on the other hand love the blue marbling and work on face. We do get to see a lot of the vascularity on that body as an artist and sculptor such as myself that I love. But you made some good points as well. Keep going Dave I wanna stay positive but truthful just as you have. It will pay off in the end.

The Controller pre dates Thanos and was an influence on Thanos' design. The Controller did get a power upgrade from the Mad Titan. I am a fan of ol' Basil Sandhurst and I'd like to buy this BAF.

I really like the whole wave . A lot better than the bone breaker wave , apart from maggot, imo….

I'm very happy to have gotten the Controller Head Sculpt with the awesome Thor and then to use it with the Exclusive Thanos (the one with Silver machine looking parts on the legs) as a Golden Controller! It has all the same stuff, and looks cooler with a lot more going on and more unique.

This BAF is kinda just, there to me. He fills a few check boxes, being an Iron Man villain and an AIM member but I'm gunna end up with him more just cuz I want each individual figure in the wave.

Controller inspired me to get this wave...im the 1% i guess. His comic appearances in Iron Man and Captain Marvel are great

Re-use is common...I mean come on David. They have to do this to make more money from what they've already spent. You know this. I love the channel, the reviews...don't get me wrong there. The Controller was a good option for a Thanos body re-use. There isn't to many that would fit this mold.

He would make a excellent thanos custom

He goes well with The Hood he was in his gang and tried to over throw him in his Dark Reign comics.

Can't wait for the Marvel Legends deluxe Controller figure this holiday season! It's in pink!

I have to disagree with you on this one Dave. I don't have him yet. But I do have the Thanos. So I kind of already know what I'm getting. To me that score is way to low. I'm not sure what execution you would expect for this character. But he is actually very faithful to the comics. If you don't like the design or character that's fine. But that's a more of a complaint for his creators Archie Goodwin, & George Tuska. I'm all for calling Hasbro on there BS. But it's not justified here. Hasbro have made a faithful representation of the character. It sounds like the figure is getting a low grade. Due to you not liking Hasbro's character selection. As opposed to the actual figure being bad. To me he's a cool obscure villian. That has never received a Legend. I'm all for that. I don't think sales wise he would work for a deluxe release. A BAF release makes the most sense. End of the day it's nice getting a new character that's accurate to the source material.

Still my most wanted BAF, I like the Thanos body and I'm a huge classic iron man fan so the controller is a must for me, I just don't want anything from the wave aside from the iron man which I got months ago, and I'm torn between buying the whole wave or spending £50-£60 on the BAF alone

A better Spidercide body would be the Caliban mold.

Dave, what was the average for the wave?

DC has a race of controllers that want to…control. They’re related to the guardians of the universe in some way and they decide to try to use the orange lantern as their power and larfleeze knocks em off. That’s what I know about controllers. I dunno who this guy is tho.

I just got the whole wave at Target for $6.88 a piece and I'm still not excited. With the exception of Thor.

I would have liked if they would have thrown in a few more disks because the more people under his control the stronger he gets, extra hands, and yes a screaming head would have been nice I think your score is a little low considering he is very accurate to his comic image and size he is a very faithful interpretation after all isn’t that what where ultimately looking for when we put them on our shelves, unlike speedball no power effects, Blue Marvel lacking greyed temples, Madame Hydra no whip

I think hasbro are clearly iron man fans. theyve given us so many iron man baddies and supporting cast. waiting for a century figure in the retro carded line lol.

It's OK but I don't think it could be better. Mabey a better head but the figure is accurate and does the job but not much else. 5/10

He's an okay BAF, definitely not worth it in my book. For me to buy an entire wave I would have to want at least 5 figures and the BAF itself, not many waves come close to that requirement, unfortunately for me and fortunately for my wallet.

I don't get this. How does the character selection affect the final rate. I mean, those characters gotta be made somewhere right? Being so so much wrong with this line, I don't think character selection is exactly the worst thing

Hi David, sorry I've been missing uploads and streams recently, been a bit busy. Now, when this wave was properly revealed, I was not really interested, except for Quake and Viper (who's probably my pick for most disappointing figure of the year because holy cow she feels really tacked on) and Controller was a character I knew nothing about and could care less for. After watching your videos and streams though, idk I feel like I might pick him up, just for the sake of having another Iron Man Villain in the collection. I guess why some are more angry then others about him being the BAF is because we got a relatively low time IM Villain, before more requested and well liked ones like The Mandarin, Whiplash/Blacklash, or even an updated Madame Masque, hell not even Ezekiel Stane. There's also the fact that aside from an Iron Man Shelf, he doesn't really fit in anywhere (You COULD try to put him the hoods gang as he was a member for a while.) Maybe it's because I've convinced myself that I only need one Iron Man figure and not a whole shelf full of different armours, maybe it's because I really like Marvel's b, c and d tier villains idk, but if the opportunity came along to buy this guy cheap, I just about might do it.

He looks like a beefed up version of the Scooby Doo villain Charlie the Funland Robot

Not the worst marvel legend but from what's been coming out recently I'm sticking to Power Rangers Lightning Collection.

I rather have had Spidercide than that garbage repaint of an obscure character that few people know whom the heck that is. Well I guess Spidercide is as obscure as the Controller but it's way cooler looking

Me personally will not buy a figure or entire series for a BAF I don't want. You are a glutton for punishment but then again it's no secret you are doing this for clicks.
