Very sorry to hear about Bob's passing. There's nothing whatsoever wrong with missing him and being sad that he's gone. I hope that over time, you're able to think more about the good feelings that you brought each other and being grateful for that and less about the sadness.
Sorry for your loss. I lost my wife last year. disneyland was her favorite place. I remember having fun with her at the park during the 60th anniversary sad she can go with to the 70th.
After a trip to Disneyland in the early 2010s, I became fascinated by the history and "how it was made" aspect of the park. I stumbled upon this little channel with a hyper punk rock dude and before I knew it, I'd torn through his entire back catalogue. I'd always had a deep love of Adventureland and the Tiki Room especially so when you took us along on a trip to Oceanic Arts and introduced us to Bob and LeRoy, that was my first real footstep into the world of tiki... I've fallen hard for it ever since. YOU, Justin... are doing the work to make sure Bob and LeRoy's contributions are not ignored. As long as we are remembered, we live on. So too shall Bob and LeRoy in part because of you. Thank you. And my condolences.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear friend! It sounds like such a special friendship developed and is something to treasure. Perhaps there is a way we can all help to honor them both for their contributions to the park we love!
I did my Disneyland College Program during the 60th celebration and sooo glad I did it was the best experience of my life and that’s also when I found you on RU-vid!! ❤🎉
Sorry about your loss Justin. Grief is a journey. I don't wish it on anyone. I lost my wife tragically one night a few years ago and I am still traveling the sorrow of loss. I have experienced grief a few times in life, loosing friends and family, but nothing caused me to crumble like loosing my life partner. She was a HUGE Disney fan. To this day, I still love everything Disney. Following Vlogs about Disney has been the best thing for me to heal and learn about the fact that grief never goes away. It moves forward with you as you go on. I appreciate you so much more than you would know. Love to you and Allie❤
Lucky Disney Land. Ive been going to WDW since 1973. I was so excited for the 50th Birthday and attended 1 Oct 2022 full of great expectations. Sadly I have never been more disappointed. It was all about new merch, food and just another Projection show. I had a better time time the night before chatting with you and Ally at EPCOT
RIP Bob. When we lived in Palmdale, we were annual members and one year I went to D23 and bought one of the signs from year 35 celebration of Disneyland. We relocated in '05 to New Hampshire and I finally have attached it to the wall that is the stairway to my basement and it is in mint condition. Fond memories always follow when I see that sign. Good times. I would go back to get year 75 if I knew those signs would be saved and sold to D23 collectors.
I’ve been at Disneylands birthday every five years since the 35th as well. I still have the bumper stickers and pendants they use to sell. Can’t wait for the 70th. I remember they used to hand out birthday cake in the park one year as well for free. Can’t wait to see what they will have for the 70th. Just prepping myself for the crowds.
It’s rare to have a person enter your life and have such a profound impact on your life. When you become acquainted with or even friends with such a person,or people, your life seems to have more meaning. It gives you a greater perspective. You cherished those two gentlemen while they were in your presence, now cherish them, as they continue their art and talent up in Heaven.
The 35th anniversary is still my favorite! Party Gras and One Man’s Dream stage show were amazing. Plus the Dream machine where I won a watch. ❤ I feel the 75th will be better than the 70th!
Damn... Rip Bob. i really enjoyed those tiki room videos cause its not something i was at all familar with before your channel! Thank you for sharing a lot of their history- sounds like you were a good part of their legacy 😊
Keep your expectations tempered about the 70th. I was surveyed a couple years ago about the concepts that were the “finalists.” Not revealing details because I value being able to go to Disneyland haha. That said, it will be better than the 100th anniversary for the company but not as good as the 60th anniversary for Disneyland.
I just finished your book. It was excellent and very entertaining. I met you last Christmas on Main Street during my solo trip. I didn’t ask for a ‘fun pic’ but sure wish I had. Maybe next time! Keep writing…
You are always so SMART! I was born in January 1955, then 3 months later Steve Jobs was born, then 3 months later Albert Einstein died, and 3 months later, Disneyland opened. SIX months packed of what I consider EPIC events. Thank you Walt! Here comes Disneyland 70! ~~In 2025. It's going to be super magical.
I'm so sorry bro that you lost your friend that's so sad anyways I never been to Disneyland I don't know everything about their price range look at this way everything is expensive what can you do about it right thank you so much for sharing and hope Allie is doing okay and your family too please be safe❤❤❤❤❤❤😢
I wanted this to be a separate thought…it makes sense, rather harshly, to have price increases. I understand why. I don’t like it, but I kinda get it. I cannot wait for the 70th celebration! I worked, on that day, for their 50th ( the cast members got gold ears), my wife and I attended, as guests, to celebrate the 60th (so many cupcakes…get eat them now because they are not GF), so now, we have to be there to help celebrate the 70th. I know that it will be packed! I just want to say that I was a part of it! Caution…it will be on July 17th, so it may be super hot!! Thank you, Justin, for this and all of the rest of your fun, super entertaining, quirky vids. Love you like a brother from another mother!
Justin, sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. Thank you for your videos of their facility. I bought both of the books from the auction. I bid on some drawings from the Fairmont Hotel but they went too high. I also knew Al Okura way back in the 70s at Burger King. Oh I also have a washed out slide of the outside part of Alice in Wonderland and the balls have spikes. lol. Cheers Amigo.
I went to Disneyland multiple times for the 50th, and it was incredible and the 60th was great, too! WDW had a bad 50th, in my opinion, and it was such a bummer. I hope they can make a better 60th for that resort. I can't wait for Disneyland's 70th, though! I am planning a trip next October so I can do Halloween and celebrate the 70th. As much as I love Dinsey, they are getting very expensive, and I feel like there are so many little changes they could make that would go a long way to make people feel like the new price is worth it and they just refuse to do it or are not creative enough to figure it out. Would love to know what you think about the disconnect between us fans and the top. Great video! And I am so sorry for the loss of your friend.
Justin sorry for the loss of a good friend. He like many others brought unique hands on skills needed to build Disneyland from scratch so you will greave for a time but at the end it will all come together and remembered with grace. Ok so my age matches Disneyland and have watched the shows, movies and park visits each year. I stopped five years ago. Disney Company is on a very bad situation. Stock prices decline along with revenue based on failed projects. If they try anything it will be to break away from middle income families. What that will look like I am not sure. Some of the planning may pivot based on election results nationally. Another great recon point of view soldier. Sleep well and Godspeed.
Actually, the 50th started this behavior, which with why it continued into the 60th anniversary. It was the success of the 50th anniversary that basically brought everyone back to Disneyland.
I disagree with you. I think the 50th was bigger than the 60th. In addition to all the gold ride vehicles which was really cool, the 50th was the first time they shot fireworks off the roof of the main street buildings and had fireworks all the way around the hub for the HM stretching room scene. Such an amazing show and arguably the best fireworks show Disneyland has ever done. I’ll have fond memories of that time period forever. The 60th..eh. Not so much. I think they are sprucing up not just for the 70th but also getting big projects out of the way in anticipation of Disney Forward stuff and the 75th anniversary too. That way they can focus on other projects yet to come. New Tomorrowland??? 🤔
condolence to bob and to bob's friends and family. but still i feel that Disneyland Paris still trouble kid on the other parcs from Disney because most new stuff are not accept or change that i well missto see it. i understand how you feel Justin. in 2023 i did lost suddenly mine mother and few moments later that i call mine girlfriend. she tell her mother also passed away and also on the same day. so when i visted the grave, i still see both same dates of them.
That is the question stock investors are asking. I suppose they have some resources to pay. But with each increase in cost with a reduction in entertainment value population will drop eventually reaching a point of no return to what it was intended to be.
