For those who are interested in the topic of polygonal masonry. A number of methods for obtaining the polygonal masonry are proposed. The basis of the proposed methods is the use of clay/gypsum replicas, a topography translator, and reduced clay models of the stone blocks along with a 3D-pantograph. The results are presented in the article: “Fabrication methods of the polygonal masonry of large tightly-fitted stone blocks with curved surface interfaces in megalithic structures of Peru”. My sister and I hiked the Inca Trail in 2014, we were 64 and 66 at the time. It was my lifetime dream and your wonderfully documented trip has brought it all back in vivid detail. I feel like I am right back on top or Dead Woman's pass again only I can now breath as I enjoy your adventure. Thank you for the memories.
I was thinking maybe I was too old .. so happy to see your comment. I am 62. Are you avid hikers? Did you do lots of special training/preparation for the hike? Were you on a tour like this with porters etc? I worry about not keeping the pace. I also like to go a bit slower so not rushing too fast. So awesome you did this. This video has my heart skipping a beat .. never too late, right!
What an amazing father and son trip, I am from Peru leaving in the US for over 20 year now and although I have been to Machu Picchu many times and done the trail and even guided a few trips, it still takes my breath away. Thank for your beautiful narration. Terry
I’ve spend countless hours watching videos on RU-vid and this one is by far the most amazing video I have seen. The narration and production from start to finish is so excellent this video should be shown on National Geographic. Best of all is that you have made this trek with your son and you will forever have that bond. Absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing this experience with everyone
wow what a trip, I can't even begin to comprehend how special it must've been. Your son, Elliot, seems like a great man and you like a great father! Amazing video
The only thing on my bucket list is visiting Machu Picchu. Alas, my age and health keep me from going but your video made me feel almost as if I was on the hike! Such a wondrous, amazing place! Thank you for allowing me to make the journey!
WOW!!!!!!!!! great video. Excellent presentation, pace, narrative, every word tightly linked to the point and time, but also linked to the bigger picture. Fantastic job Jon
I must say that you are by far the greatest story teller I've heard. You have given a beautiful place a very personal story. It's heartwarming to hear men share part of their lives with others. You have gone on a trip that I have dreamed of doing but know that I never could (due to disability). I would like to say thank you for sharing this with the world. The way you tell it is so much better than any "documentary" I've seen. You give it such a personal touch. Again, thank you for this!
I just finished this journey myself and my oh my you did a amazing job. Thank you for putting this together. My family was able to watch and see what we accomplished! I will be back to Peru soon as I feel like there is so much more to see and experience!
@@JohnnieV The trail is definitely the hard way, for the adventurous in mind. Most people prefer to fly into Cusco, ride the bus to the train station, ride the train to Aguas Calientes and then a short bus ride up to Machu Picchu. The trip from Cusco to Machu Picchu and back can be done in one day. Typically, from 4 AM to 8 PM.
@@JohnnieV , Indeed. If you leave Cusco by 4 AM you can be at Machu Picchu around 11 - noon. You can spend the rest of the afternoon at the mountain and then spend the night at Aguas Calientes town at the mountain base. Then return to Cusco the next day.
I AM PERUVIAN 13 YEARS AGO I DID THIS TRIP WITH MY FAMILY. I WOULD LIKE TO DO AGAIN JUST WITH MY SON LIKE THIS STORY. BEAUTIFUL JOB AND MESAGGE. GOD BLESS YOU GUYS.
Jon, so glad to have found your incredible trip to Machupicchu which has been on my bucket list for years. You've just made it possible since I am now 75. I feel refreshed and like I actually made the trip. Can't thank you enough for your commentary and great attitude. Peace and blessings
Hello to everybody specially to Jon This is Carlos the tour guide who have taken you to Machupicchu I am just shocked to have found your video on RU-vid it's been a long time my friend, good memories! i'd like to get in touch with you Best regards!!
dandelO thank you, i think he didn't see my comment yet it's okay,It's great to have someone like you by youtube After having been working on the inca trail for so long i've decided to run my own travel company,so if you or a friend of you is planning on traveling to Perú let me know please Best regards my friend.
I don't know who disliked this video, because it was so amazing. I traveled vicariously with Jon and Elliot and loved every minute from start to finish. Thanks so much for sharing
Thank you for taking me on your journey. I have always wanted to hike that trail but do not have the health to do it. I have a better view of that world now. Excellent!
You did an outstanding job of narrating your trek. I could not have enjoyed it more. Your tribute to your sone was very special. I am 67, and I hope to make the hike. I am very inspired! Thank you.
I just finished watching your video. I was hooked from the beginning. You are an excellent storyteller. I loved the pace and narrative of your experience. I was born in Peru and have been in Machu Picchu twice but never planned to take the Inca trail, much less climb the Huayna Picchu. But through your video I felt as if I was doing it with you. So glad you were able to go in this adventure with your son. It is evident the love you have for him. I got misty eyed at the end due to the warm and loving words you said about him. Hope you get to go on more adventures with your son. God bless.
Receive my sincere congratulations. It is one of the best videos I've seen, regarding the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. I liked two things, especially: The way the video is produced, and the fact that it is an adventure shared by a father with his son. This last one moves me because I also made the trip with my children and it is an unforgettable thing. Thank you very much for visiting my country and for sharing the beautiful history of your adventure. Greetings.
Thanks Jon for sharing this amazing experience about my beloved Peru, I can feel the excitement and wonder as you explore the ruins and paths of the Incas. We feel proud and happy to be descendants of this great culture, that now also belongs to the world. I am happy to see that you shared this experience with your son, It's something that both of you will treasure forever, great example for many fathers and sons to follow.
So very proud of you! As a 50 year old and a Peruvian by birth, this is at the top of my bucket list. I left Peru as a young teen and never been back. I will get to Macchu Picchu...one day! Thank you for your awesome narration and visuals of this amazing place. Thank you, thank you.
What an amazing descriptive tour you took us on. It was like being there. My son in law also made the same treck you did, but was more focused on the climb than photos. He did take many, but not like you. At the top he spoke of the spirituality and the Eagles he watched below flying. Bless and thank you borh, your guide and porters as well.
My husband and I are planning this same adventure. I’ve watched hours and hours and as other commenters have said, this is by far the best experience video out there. This is the one I share with family and friends when they inquire about what we are embarking upon. What a beautiful trip for you and your son! Well done sir!
I am sitting here in my kitchen working and looking at the cold dreary rain swept view out my window here in the uk and was Doing as we all do flick through you tube for something to watch when I saw this. I too did the same Inca trail journey many years ago with my wife and the memories came flooding back I stopped what I was doing to fall back into that feeling you felt as I watched it, you truly put your soul into this and that will live on in this video. I Believe we all need to travel and experience what wonders the world has to offer it is so easy to get caught up. Thank you great video. We used a company called Llama travel who did and excellent job organising our trip.
Jon Bravo, bravo bravo, bravo...There isn't anything "hidden in there" all was hidden inside you heart. You are an awesome father, traveler, video editor, commentator and photographer. Bravo, bravo and more bravo... you just left a great sample to the whole WEST of the world (the new world) of what it takes to be a respectful father. Hugs to you Jon and hugs to your son for having this great father and being inherited this wonderful memory for all his following generations. I do thank you for admiring and describing in such a respectful way all the people who helped you made this a wonderful experience.
My neighbor just got back from climbing Machu picchu. Her pics were incredible . It was her birthday so the chef made her a cake out in the middle of nowhere. Great story...thank you.
WOW.... THAT WAS AMAZING..!!! Tears dripping down my face at the end... I wish I would have seen something like this when I was much Younger... You would have talked me right in to going... Now, I am at the End of my life's Trip, and as I sit her watching youtube, oxygen tube to my nose, (wanted to offer you at pull during your Steep steps) having just lived something I will never fit into my 'bucket', but through Your eyes (gopros eyes) Feeling as if I were a Part of Your trip of a lifetime with your Son.... Now, I am really crying... but, I say THANK YOU SO MUCH for allowing me along, on your trip... I had fun & will never forget it... God has Blessed Me Through You.... God's Blessings for the rest of your life, May he take you through Many More Paths... I am so Glad You have crossed mine.... Much Love Gina
Usted si que me ha emocionado, ha hablado desde el corazón. Yo también visité MachuPicchu con mi familia y fue maravilloso. que Dios la bendiga itshallbeknown...♥
This is AMAZING thank you so much for not only the amazing pictures and videos, but also for the narration of this entire video! You did an outstanding job
What a great tribute to your son Elliott. It's so nice that you're still on good terms even though he's an adult. I enjoyed every minute of your video.
Thanks for coming to my country, this video is very illustrative for other tourists who wants to visit Machu Picchu, specially the Inca Trail !!! I hope you had have a great trip!!!
Wow. What quality viewing. This is brilliant. The best travel video I have ever viewed. The father/son element, hit home, and made me teary-eyed. My father passed away in March of this year, 2019, and I would have loved to have been on a 4-day hike to Macchu Picchu with my father one day. You guys will always have that memory to cling too. No one...can take it away from you. Two thumbs up on a superb video/review/documentary on Macchu Picchu, and the Inca Trail. 👍☀️👍 You have a new subscriber. This really was...quality viewing.
Great trip and an a wonderful story. As a Peruvian, I have to thank you twice for visiting my country and for one of the nicest and complete Machu Picchu videos. It is clear that every word has been chosen very carefuly. Best regards.
VA Mendoza...your appreciation was felt by me as a reader of the comments under this video. IT definitely was a beautiful video and appreciation of a father toward his son. Makes 'me' feel to want to do this Trail in appreciation of the country itself. Thank you.
THANK YOU Jon and Elliot for this amazing travel video, which I just "stumble" upon it. I have been twice in MP, 2003 and 2013 and both times the weather was great. I was always wondering about the BIG hike from Cusco and can tell you after seeing this, that I would have never made it; not in 2003 or 2013. Train, Bus and a tour guide into this ancient city was my way and whenever I look at MP photos/videos now, I'm looking for the one tree standing in the middle of the lower meadow if it is still there.
This is a truly fantastic video. Great quality! I'm disabled and will probably never manage such a trip, so I really appreciate your first hand view, I feel like I'm climbing with you!
I agree with you!! I am disabled also (cancer, on a list for a double lung transplant, hearing aids) and I will never be able to go anywhere but I, too, felt like I was almost on this trip! It was wonderful!!
Loved your adventure! Felt as if I was right there next to you and your son. Your narration was riveting and dramatic as it should be. And your ending saluting your son tugged at my heart. Awesome.
Please, please, please. I hope that Jon Jordan reads the comments here. I was reading through them and came across a reply, from just three months ago, from Carlitos the tour guide, who would love to contact Jon Jordan again. Thank you for this video, absolutely beautiful and entirely mind blowing scenery.

I just watched your travel documentary to Machu Picchu. OMG! What an incredible journey. I even felt the emotion you must have experienced in some of your climbs. I have always said that Machu Picchu was a bucket list adventure for me. After seeing your documentary, I am not sure I could endure. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with the world.
They used to make jokes about people inviting their friends and neighbors over to se their vacation photos. Portraying it as if it was a chore to be endured like torture. Perhaps some were or are. This however has been an incredible delight! Well done and thank you for inviting us to come and see your trip and share in the closeness even though we will never meet. All good blessings to you and yours.
How can anyone give a thumbs down are you so calloused. Not only is this man amazing in his wonderfully simple but perfectly apt narration fantastic amature filming but ends on the best note possible... Every father every son should do something like this. I am so envious of the whole experience. In a world where people are being divided we need to make every effort to connect to unite to be interdependent and to kindle relationships.
My wife and I visited Peru in January and simply loved the country and it’s people. The Peruvians are amazingly friendly and we never felt uneasy there. The journey to Machu Picchu can only be described as breathtaking, and perplexing when you attempt to understand how they could have constructed this site and many others 500+ years ago. This journey should be #1 on anyone’s bucket list.
I truly enjoyed your story of your journey to Machu Picchu. I wanted to get a details of what it's like to go on the Inca Trail trek and not only did you provide that, but you also shared the value of friendship between parent and adult children! Thank you, Jon! I'm going to Machu Picchu December 2016.
Watched a few minutes, then ended up propping my phone up next to the bath and watching the rest. The best travel story I've seen in years. Thanks for sharing Jon
it is obviously much much older than the official date of construction and it shows how it was reinhabited several times. I was there and it is just the most amazing thing I've ever seen.
Jon, and Elliot, this "production" of your trip and travels on The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu was wonderful to watch in its entirety. I see you used a GoPro to do the filming, and filled in with other cameras. The image stabalization worked very well, it was easy to watch you hike up those uneven steps/rocks. What great photography, in everyway. The narration of the daily walks/hikes are mesmerizing, and very interesting. I visited Machu Picchu after experiencing the Galapagos Islands in 2013. I cannot say we hiked the Inca Trail, but we did have wonderful experiences traveling through the Sacred Valley and eventually the train to the small town of Aquas Calientes at the bottom of Machu Picchu. Traveling together, father and son added so much to your adventure, and your "Once in a Lifetime" experience. Thank you for sharing this with us. There is so much to compliment you on, I could go on and on. Bravo and well done!
Thank you for that Jon. My wife and I did the trail back in 2007 and it was the best thing we have ever done. We made fiends for life and will never forget it. Your beautiful video brought back so many memories and it was just as though I was there again! Funnily enough there was a father and his son on that trail. The only difference when we were there was that it was almost completely blue sky over Machu Picchu, which I think is quite unusual. We went in May - when did you go? Having sons of my own, I thought the end of your video was very touching. I'm really glad I stumbled upon this video!
😭😭 I understand why everyone says they were crying 😢 this was beautiful and one of the best documentaries I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing. Much love and God bless you and your family
Thank you for a wonderful story of your journey to Machu Picchu. I was there two times ni 2012 and 2017, but not through the Inka trail. Your film allowed me to experience the adventures of the trailblazing. Great shots you recorded and I will use some of them as a reference picture for my pastel painting. Thank you! Stay health and fit!
OH MY GOD! Jon Jordan thank you sooooo much for sharing this video of your adventure to Machupicchu...this is so far the very best video i have watched of mountain trecking with the most spectacular and climactic end goal, a glimpse of a place of indescribable and one of a kind beauty and splendor...i was with you all the way to top and back feeling as excited as you did, fortunately not as tired. And when you revealed the view, i couldn't catch my breath for what i saw...OMG...and the side trip you took to the top of the mountain was a bonus for me too. What a view!! i thank God for your steady hand so that you were able to capture very clear views and your narration is so clear and easy to understand...I was so lucky to have stumbled upon this wonderful video you shared on youtube..God bless you both father and son...Philippines here saying saying thank you Jon Jordan and your son Elliot.
Flew to Macchu Piccu from Cuzco in a Peruvian Hu1h helicopter in 1972. We gave them a film and still photos courtesy of Dept. Army Special Photo Office Panama. Great trip. Back then, their were no permits required to visit. Peru was still evaluating what to do with this wonderful opportunity. We spent three hours on the ground.
Thanks again for sharing this adventure. It serves to remind us that our lives on this world, our children and our love are a phenomenal gift. Live it to the fullest.
Incredible video of an unforgettable trip, made even more special because it was a father-son adventure of a lifetime. I really enjoyed the narration, Jon, and felt like I was as "there" as I could be. Elliott is a machine on those trails! He was practically running down the final mountain. Thank you for sharing your destination bliss!
@phục êwê For reals..? I know it's not something to joke about but if you're sure perhaps you can let Carlitos know, he has reached out last year and must wonder what's happening. Perhaps he can reach his son... So sad. X
jon, 'WOW.' That was FANTASTIC. The very best. I have been spoilt along with every word and explanation of your trip and adventure. So well looked after By your tour guide.A BIG THANK YOU. Wish you and yours the very best in health and happiness.. Best regards from from the UK.
AFTER WATCHING THIS VIDEO AND WITH YOUR WONDERFUL NARRATION I FEEL NOSTALGIC AS IF I WERE TRAVELING WITH YOU GUYS MR JORDAN WHAT AN EXCELLENT VIDEO THANKS
I went to Machu Picchu March 2019 it was the closet i got to heaven. Unbelievable when you reach the point. I was just amazed and speechless when i reached the top and my tears started flowing that i was able to make this beautiful trip.
52:15 Take a look the city far in the mountain, is the reminder silouete of a festivity celebrate for the andean people: the CONDOR AND THE BULL, they capture a condor a live tie with a rop in top of the bull and let go. running, the bull desperely try to dump the condor and the condor said some bit the eyes from the bull in terror, sadistic tradition...but is right in front from us rge siluote of the bull and the condor, was a destiny ?
your video just showed up on my list. This was just wonderful. As a dad of 4 boys and 2 girls, I am so thrilled with your wisdom in how you love and relate to your son. thanks so much for doing this video.
A amazingly accurate account and very well produced. I just relived the trip I did with my wife and 7 Canadian ladies (and Carlos). Thank you “Southern cross Maples”
Wow! Thanks for sharing your amazing adventure. My son just got back from a similar trek. Now I understand what he went through. He loved it but said it was the hardest thing he ever did. Tom is 33 and traveled alone. After watching this, I wish I could have traveled with him, but I wouldn't have lasted 2 minutes. BTW, this is one of the best personal documentaries I've ever seen. As good as something on NatGeo or the Travel Channel. Happy Father's Day!
I thought it was fake made with CGI effects but I realized it’s real. I saw this kind of construction in computer games. That’s pretty cool to see stairs on the mountain.
Very, very cool... I loved this video of your vacation gentlemen.. Not too many people can say they did something like this together as a family unit, or part thereof.. You both look absolutely accomplished as you both well are.. Quite satisfying just to watch you both enjoy such an awsome hike.. Congrats..
I loved watching your excellent video. I have made that hike 5 times, the first was in 1982 and the last must have been some time in the mid 90s. I was really interested to see how much things have changed. Campsites were unrecognizable as I believe they have been relocated. And bathrooms! What a great improvement as the situation was getting pretty bad. It also looks as if more of the actual Inca trail has been uncovered and been put to use. I will probably watch this more than once as I can no longer make a hike like that, and the crowds are too big anyway. Thank you for making it. I can re-live those wonderful times vicariously.
Sally Vogel I also did the trail in 1980..... quite different conditions. Just me and friend without a tent, just a tarp. To begin we had to cross a river in a small box suspended by a cable. Quite an adventure!
Melodiaindia, I remember that crossing at K88, except we always began the trek farther upriver at Chilca. Good for you doing it on your own! We had porters who wore flip flops and their own clothing...not as adventurous as you were, but still a marvelous adventure.
Very nice made adventure video. I liked the absence of disturbing background music. Also the well informed comments. I also liked the use of still pictures that were zoomed in and out instead of shaky videos. So thanks very much.
Thank you Jon Jordan for sharing your adventure! My son and I leave this week. I was leery about Huayna picchu but after your amazing & super informative video, I am excited to do it! Thank you!!!
What a beautiful and informative story! I almost cried at the end of your evolving relationship with your son! You are quite the story teller Jon! Thanks for such a quality production! It seems your son is a good man because he has a great dad/ role model!
Thank you vry mch for sharing the incredible journey to one of the most amazing Inca citadle...mesmerisngly beautiful shots and unbelieveable frnship of you and your son added more inspiration, may you have longer adventurous life.
This is one of the bestest videos (and narration) I have ever watched! Well done, Jon! I am going on a 10-day Inca Trail and Amazon Jungle adventure in 10 days, solo. Your video has really been a great preparation (of the mind) for me. Thank you!!!
