Song for Brigid Video is released on Imbolc 1st Feb. The song honours Brigid, Godess and Celtic saint, woman of the earth. It heralds the coming of spring, moving from the darkness into the light and new life. Brigid the Goddess of healing & fertility was the daughter of Dagda of Tuatha de Dannan. In pre-christian times ritual fires were lit on the hill of kildare invoking the Goddess Brigid. It was believed she unfroze the earth, the waters and brought new fire. Brigid was the Goddess of healing, inspiration, poetry and smithcraft, and was revered all the way across Europe. St Brigid was born circa 451AD. It is said that from a very young age, she could not keep herself from feeding the poor and healing them, which got her into lots of trouble. The qualities of Brigid the Goddess are also associated with St Brigid. She lived out a Celtic form of Christianity, in the early days before the Irish Church became more Romanised. She founded a monastery in Kildare which had both women and men living a monastic life. For centuries in Kildare following St Brigids example, there was a double line of Abbesses & Abbot bishops. she is famous for her Brigid's cross which she made from the rushes of the death bed of a dying chieftan. She proclaimed the cross as a sign of salvation, of Gods love, a sign of sacrifice and a sign of hope. She said you preach through your actions.
