SONG REACTION: Failure - Another Space Song 

I knew you would pick this one lol. This is a pretty underrated band which was one of the pioneers of the spacey alt rock/shoegaze combo that later gave birth to bands like Deftones. This, Hum's two albums (especially Downward is Heavenward) and Siamese Dream are all albums that made this sound popular. I would really be interested in your reaction to this album because I think that you will like it quite a bit, nothing too groundbreaking but just very well written 90s alt rock with a great sound and at times a huge wall of sound behind it

Another grunge/space rock/shoegaze band I love is Hum. Their albums You’d Prefer an Astronaut and Downward is Heavenward are both gems. Glad you enjoyed listening to this.

Failure is one of those bands of that era of music that should have been as big as Nirvana. They were so ahead of their time but also a perfect fit in the grunge era.

This band pioneered a lot of the things you associate with this genre so in 2022, they’ll sound derivative but they were NOT. Also they came before Incubus. Speaking of umbrellas, check out the completely different but from this same concept album, Smoking Umbrellas

These guys are amazing. Their newer albums are good also. Bernie, Dirty Blue Balloons, Empty Friend are great songs also. So underrated. Incubus definitely have a sound borrowed from HUM, and even a little bit of Polvo. So many lesser known 90s rock bands like Swervedriver, Archers of Loaf, Seam, Paw, Sebadoh, Quicksand, Tad, Sebadoh, Jawbox, Samiam.

I love fantastic planet. There aren't a lot of albums that I can listen to from the beginning to the end without being bored or it suffering from "every song sounds very similar"-syndrome. A nice little easter egg is that the Segue tracks are spaced 2 songs / Segue 1 / 3 Songs / Segue 2 / 4 songs / Segue 3 / 5 songs. Such a great album.
