SONG REACTION: Travis - Writing to Reach You 

The Man Who was the album Chris Martin stated paved the way, warming up the people for Coldplay. I loved seeing Chris sing the chorus of Why Does It Always Rain as an opening to Fix You.

Great song. I was thinking of including this in a future reaction. I’m still undecided. Travis has some really good tunes.

Travis later faded into a band of modest returns, but they were the next big thing in 1999, and _The Man Who_ is still a stellar, near flawless album. "She's So Strange," "The Fear", "Driftwood", "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?" - not a duff track & often immaculate. The Britpop balladeer bridge between "Wonderwall" and Coldplay, Travis' momentum would soon be drowned out mere months later by Chris Martin & co's Godzilla stomp of "Yellow" and _Parachutes_ - an album that arguably perfected the Travis formula itself. But _The Man Who_ still stands as a top-tier document & high point of Britpop's Winter years. Worth a full listen. Travis - upon their debut - were the "mature Coldplay" that Coldplay never became.

Im from Scotland and absolutely love travis, especially there acoustic stuff on RU-vid, they still play as a band and there acoustic versions of well known songs that they play now in 2023 are excellent,great band , always makes me happy listening to their songs, lets all thank the band Travis for excellent music an memories 👌👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😁

Coldplay are a poor man’s Travis. Without Travis no Coldplay!!! Truth!!!!

I think the working title for the song was *Writhing* To Reach You, as it was inspired by a time that lead singer, Fran Healy, had a broken arm, and had to strain to wipe his bum.

This is one of my most favourite tracks ever. You should react to the entire "The Man Who" album!

Travis is a very melodic band. Their early is pretty good. Keane is good too, at least the first coulple or first 3 albums. The fact that you consider it as easy piano tracks doesn't mean its something easy to come up with. Do you think its easy to compose a beautiful melody?

Trivial fact : Dougie the bassist is married to Oscar-nominated actress Kelly McDonald' of Trainspotting and No Country For Old Men.

Travis has even better songs than just "Writing to Reach You." I wouldn't recommend this song to people who are new to Travis. "Sing", "Mother", "Moving", "Animals", "Sarah", "Paralyzed", and "Blue Flashing Light" would be my recommendations instead.

back in my old days keane was known as coldplay , but tom the lead singer of keane gave that name to his friend

If only think"writing to reach you" is fine & decent then its you that has the problem! Its a fantastic song!

Yeah, just an easy going rock track. I’m pretty exited to see you listen to that Aereogramme song though, but equally as scared to see that U2 song.
