The picturesque Johar Valley lies in Uttarakhand's Munsiyari region, flanked by majestic, snowclad peaks. The valley hosts rich deodar and pine forests and rare wildlife. The residents of Johar depend on the surrounding forests for food and sustenance.
This folk song celebrates the symbiotic relationship between the people of Johar and the mountains and forests around them.
This week, in a very special offering, Roundglass Sustain is releasing a compilation of music from the mountains of Uttarakhand. These folk songs that we collected as we made our films are a celebration of people's intimate connection with nature.
