A friend of my youngest son said pretty much the same thing, just the other day, about him. He travelled the south by train and hitchin' rides for couple years or less. Not my jam but I get it, sorta, if I put myself in the shoes of a early 20s male that loves the more historical ways of the south and his get-tar (spell it like I say it. Its a joke with my friends and my accent). He has been back for almost a year. I think he is bored already. He didnt realize I had been listening to the LDSB for a few years now.... because he has been running the roads and riding trains, Lmao. I might have to help him write a few short stories more about the good, some of the bad, and all the ugly... wha, wha, wha. (I love Clint Eastwood). Sorry, for the lengthy message. One of my faults of being an Aspie.

He has kicked it, a lot of his songs have short little interviews where he talks about his life as a dirty kid, his drug use, and the battles won and loss. He even talks about his wife's role, her struggle to be there for him, and her strength to help him overcome his demons. There is a small interview at the beginning of a Hill country devil song Rats get fat listen to it. Ben sits in on the video and they talk about what they think makes a good song. Hill country Devil is also amazing l. That man knows sadness rats get fat is an amazing song and so is new kind of lonely. Check em out

End with you , is his transformation from drug addiction to sobriety. He wrote it for his wife, who stuck with him through all of this. She was in college, and he was riding boxcars and would see her, she would take care of him through all of it. That is absolutely love. Their band is called lost dog street band because she found him and took care of him.

Man, I love Benjamins Music. I've been clean 5 and a half years and I'm sure I'd be dead if I hadn't made some huge changes in life. Benjamin Tod's music hits real close to home but man is it powerful stuff. This music and those like, has saved my life. Americana is some of the greatest stuff out there! Sorry for the heavy words but music and great content such as yours can make such a big difference that the artist doesn't always see. As always, I love the content Mr. Burt. Great video! If you dig GemsOnVHS have you seen Matt Heckler's "St. Tomas" video they posted a couple weeks ago? You might want to add it to your list! Also, their channel posted a video of Matt and Benjamin playing a song called "Blues Eyes Dancing" a couple years ago. It is phenomenal of course, but also has a bit of dialogue where they explain how they met and became friends.

The guy is a great song writer. Much like this generations' Bob Dylan. Not quite the poet Dylan is, but all the feeling is there. Would be cool to see a new more musically skilled up and comer like Billy Strings or Marcus King cover one of his songs and flesh it out! Much like so many have to Dylan!
