I’m pretty sure he could catch the ship, the issue is how would he even get up to the ship, not to mention that he lost ground, that’s why he probably sped up.
I still remember as a kid being on the scripted segments, such as the loop at the end, and being flown off the map because my positioning before starting the event was slightly off. I would go around the loop and watch Sonic over and over run off the map not knowing what to do. Of course, this isn’t even mentioning the Mach speed sections that have the camera pointed at Sonic’s face so you can’t see what’s coming in front of you... :(
I liked how in this game Sonic could run amazingly fast (in the mach speed parts) without needing the Boost. It looks more "natural" this way and I kinda wish they would make Sonic games like this, but fix all the flaws (like the steering).
I just love these sections of the game, I'f possible I'd have just a entire game consisting of those kinds of levels. Of course without the accidental ramp follies and major slowdowns, however the HD is great and when you actually play this yourself you get that weird rush of hype. Thats probably the best part about these stages :D
mymansora14 I don't even know why it's deemed to have terrible control. I got through this stage (and the other speed sections) just fine on my first try. I don't know whether it was the console I was on or what. However,SatSR, I'll be serious. Control got pretty terrible and the game was hard to play at times because of that. At least party mode entertained me and my friends.
This video actually makes Sonic 06 look good. It's a shame, really. If SEGA were to remake Sonic 06, but with all the glitches fixed, improved gameplay and controls, better graphics, and the bestiality scene removed, I would probably buy it and play it.
...Pretty much, yeah. I mean, they could use the same engine, but just make it more polished. Also, they don't need to scrap the source code from the original game and start from scratch, they can just build off of the original code.
***** I think there is already a mod for Sonic Generations on PC that does exactly that- it's Sonic 06 remade with slightly reworked level design using the Generations gameplay and engine. It even has the Soleanna hub world. While that's a cool mod, it's not really what I had in mind. I think the Sonic 06 gameplay is what I would want them to keep, just have Sonic and Shadow move faster than a leisurely jog when not in the Mach Speed sections. Obviously, they would need to alter the level design to accommodate for the faster movement speed. Maybe add more invisible walls so you can't glitch your way past huge chunks of the level like you can with Omega; fix the automated sections (so you can't fling yourself into oblivion when approaching a loop at the wrong angle, or break the laws of gravity and stand completely upside-down), update the character models and animations, fix the physics engine (which really wasn't that bad to begin with- it was almost really good, except for the fact that you could defy the laws of physics by standing on the side of a sphere in Crisis City, and levitate by kicking a box at the correct angle), make all side quests optional instead of some being mandatory, and finally, remove the bestiality scene. Boom. You now have a decent game.
I have to say, the way Sonic runs here is so weird; when he runs top speed, it's fine, but in most of the video... he's like shifting his feet strangely. He's not properly lifting his legs.
This level is so cool. Wish they were more Sonic games like this, cool character and level desing and mature heartwarming character relationships like Sonic and Elise
Yeah have Fun trying to Control Sonic in those awful sections with lots of obstacles, while the blue Blur cant slow down for nothing and is so incopetent that It cant even move left and right while jumping. Not saying Forces had better boost segments, but the Mach speed sections were the worst part of the game to play. At least you dont die cheaply due to poor game design in Forces, instead you die from boredom because of the automatic baby mode approach the devs went with the most linear and uninteresting stages to play in a Sonic game, where even falling on purpose is difficult because the game is that automatic, lol.
You know what I just realized, Sonic says "Darn, we're not gonna make it. Let's speed up.“ During the run, the ship is literally stopping at certain points for him to catch up. He could walk and still make it.
The first Classic and Modern Sonic games I've ever played are... Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic 06 xD But in my opinion they were very fun, I mean like Sonic 3D Blast's story was very cool and I was laughing so much at my fails in Sonic 06.
I would pick this game any day over sonic and the secret rings. I honestly have never ran into a glitch playing this game. I have had no problems with the game
Not gonna lie, when i first played this part as a kid, i fucking lost my shit Sonic actually felt ridiculously fast, Which even despite taking damage upon hitting things Was absolutely positively *_AWESOME!_* And that music, can *_not_* be topped so easily Also, 1:05 you are so lucky you didn't fall off there lmfao
This is the only stage i really like in sonic 06 Yeah there could be some 3d sound effect issues and *glitches* for the most part, but if you ignore those issues you would play one normal level
Not sure if anyone already knows this, but if you hold up on the analog stick during these sections, Sonic will speed up and have a different running animation
@thegameexplorer The bar is used for Sonic's Gem Shoes. Although they don't even deplete the bar, and you cannot use the gem shoes in Mach Speed, it's almost pointless to even have a bar.
Like I watched playthroughs of this game where they were constantly dying and running into things, and it looked near impossible, and then I got the game for myself and like... it's really not that bad. I game over'd my first time trying Wave Ocean mach speed, but that's just because I hadn't mastered the controls yet and only had like 3 lives. By the time I had reached Crisis City I did it my second try. The mach speed sections really aren't that bad, especially if you abuse the hell out of the light dash. I thoroughly enjoyed this game though :D
Interesting how the recent generations mod makes this stage actually fun but really short because of how fast sonic is now. Type "sonic generations wave ocean mod" if you dont know what I'm talking about people.
