the super characters should fly Sonic: like ERZ from Sonic Mania Tails: like Sonic Chaos and Sonic Triple Trouble but he doesn't get tired Knuckles: same thing, but he doesn't go down when gliding, you can glide up pressing up and glide down by pressing down Amy: since it's the first time she's going super, she can't fly, but everytime she uses her hammer in the ground, all the badniks on the screen get destroyed Metal Sonic: he can't go super, but he can use his abilities of breaking spikes better, you only need 10 rings to break spikes
I don't want to make them fly, that would ruin the entire game; it is a platformer after all :Y And Metal Sonic can break spikes for free when he's super or invincibility, no extra ring cost required :3
Interesting to see all the additions and changes you're making to please all the fans that follow you. I especially enjoy the little imagining of Past Oil Ocean and the interactive New Super Mario Bros. Wii style credits, though I feel Past Oil Ocean should be a bit more different aesthetically. Maybe make it look more like it's meant to be an ocean, surroumded by water and filled with machinery.

With metropolis zone past you could recreate wood zone, as a little suggestion of mine I mean, it makes sense. Also I got mad respect for u, wish I could do stuff like this too

This looks extremely good! The ability to swap between playlists in-game is Awesome, and that is one of the things I'vs never ever seen ANY Romhacker do. Splendid work, Pacca! :)
Wait, so what would the Good Future of Oil Ocean look? I think that we could have the water return and the oil would mostly be dried up or gone completely, letting you use the slides for spindash jumping as a way to get some goodies!
I assume those knuckles-spin sprites are placeholders? I would SO love to be a part of this project in some way, I wanna contribute to this amazing project in any way I can. I can help out with some player sprites (like maybe how the time travel sequence - when the player dips down a tad bit during that transition, I think they should spin in place for a brief moment and shoot up off-screen in a position that looks like them reaching upwards or something) I can also (if you want) give you some custom sprites for Super Sonic if you need them (Sonic 2's Super Sonic's sprites are a bit of a specialty of mine) I've just admired this project for so long, I don't think a project like this will happen again - so it's a once-in-a-lifetime chance
I think Oil Ocean past would have been better if it was some kind of desert level, kinda like a reimagined Dust Hill zone. What do you think? Also, where do I download this? It seems incredible :)
Gosh this is just- incredible! I wish I had the skill set you had. All I can do is edit levels sadly. I have soooo many concepts for a Sonic 2 Director’s Cut that tries to piece together what the game would have been had the devs followed through with their original plans. But I’m getting sidetracked. Keep up the outstanding work! I’m loving this hack to bits so far and hope to see more.
Btw if you didn't know in the early development of sonic 2 there was going to be a time travel thing and the wood zone was going to be The past version of Casino night zone.
I got to watch a video of a play through of this hack because I doubt my chromebook is going to allow me to play any rom hacks like the other times I tried. And I got a few suggestions. 1. Spindash Type for the option. Give the player the choice to choose the normal spindash or the one from CD 2. Add an Act 3 for the boss battles (taking place in the future). Doesn’t seem too hard since it’s just a tiny area to grab some rings and then head right to the boss 3. Maybe change some parts of the levels when in the past or future, but based on Oil Ocean’s level design I think that seems a lot to work on. So I guess don’t do this. I guess if you feel like needing more ideas, try playing Sonic CD, which can’t be too hard since it’s available on mobile for free. I really hope this hack gets lots of praise for the amazing ideas it contains.
You can try playing it in nesbox! nesbox.com/ I can't guarantee that S2CDR will work in it, but I've used it for testing in the past, and it works with chromebooks. 1. This is already a thing. Check the "style" option in the options menu ;3 2. This idea has been explored; implementing it would use up loads of valuable level slots and take quite some time to flesh out. It's not worth the effort, sadly... 3. I'm unable to do artwork, and the person who volunteered to do it has been really busy... They were only able to work on one level; I highly recommend stopping by Aquatic Ruin Zone Good Future!
When you said you used Oil Ocean for a reason, my first thought was "Did this dude put the mechanic from Sonic Mania where you can set the oil on fire with the Fire shield in his hack?!" LOL
i love how OOZ past uses prototype music, also, will you add those balls from the prototype, i remember playing OOZ in Sonic 2 Delta, it was very hard, you was walking on a ball and then another ball falls in your head
I might. I'm not sure how to make them interesting though, they were just sort of there in the Simon Wai proto. I could make them float on water, but that only does so much...
The PAST version is the BEST! Good thing y7ou did not do anything ugly with color pallette, the way many other game hackers do. I love the idea of bridge building badniks, pretty cool and unique. Octupus that shoot and run- is also pretty cool. It creates more challenge, the the Sonic 2 version where it is fixed to its position, and pretty much in front of you to get destroyed easy. For cap blowers with no flame- you should add some steam puffs, so t would make more sense visually. Cool idea with credits!@
I dont know why but the start of oil ocean future theme sounds Like a sinking ship alarm(im crazy i know -_- only things from my head)but this is a very good project man this will be the best hack rom from 2018 (if was next to final version)and the first thing i test in Sonic games its the debug and level select (i have problems?)to see the items of the levels (i dont know why i get debug and level select im probaly crazy) PS:sorry for bad english ;-;
Theres an extremely old beta with none of the cool features released several months ago. A much better demo is being prepared for the Sonic Hacking Contest, which goes live November 26th ;3
I wonder why S&K, S3&K, and this used the skidding sprite instead of the damaged sprite for sliding in oil... Also, i never though you can clip through the vents and the fire.
Tbh time travelling Knuckles looks bad here. I think that something resembling more his appearance in Mania would look better. (Knuckles's spring/time travelling sprites from Mania, but S3K styled would look perfect to me.) Also this is the first time I've ever seen interactive credits in a Sonic hack, and I really love it. (Why did you bait us with that last bit? >_
I kind of liked how silly he looked while time traveling, but given the sentiment I've seen going around, I probably should fix it up. Glad you like the credits, I'm rather proud of them myself :3 I was not lying with that last bit. 5000 Subscribers is a big deal for me, I'll totally share a prerelease build to celebrate ^w^

I'd recommend getting some more artists to work on the backgrounds. I love the pallets and changes in the foreground but time travel doesn't seem to affect the backgrounds yet...
