+Ender Foo (Krist Rountrey) Finally someone has spoken the truth!! Yes yes! Why do they see it as this tough obstacle in the game; Ive never found that pink water or whatever theyre talking about hard or anything not even as an obstacle
Your childhood should consist of from this song: Drown in grape juice Random death of the moving plaform Blue worm breaking your speed and rings Killing botbees And the tube Tails random death every five second
I was about 5 trying to play this game, and I would always turn the game off right before I drowned bc the Dying Music absolutely PETRIFIED me - It was something about it speeding up that made my heart race in a way a kid shouldn't ever have to experience lol
Same here. When I was about 5 i always died on act 2 because of stupid water, hated the counting down to drowning music too. Now i am 12 and I can finish Chemical Plant Zone easy :D
lol, my dad always tortured me with the drowning music. just to get air in the last fucking second. xD i died more than 1000 times while he was doing this.
DukeGroove the fact that you're 12 playing Sonic and on RU-vid listening to the music makes you pretty damn legendary in my book, kid. sweetpeachnectar ahh man, the ultimate douche move lol My brother was 5yrs older than me, and he would do the same when he wanted me to get outta his room. Or to make fun of me when his friends were over. Or when he was having a bad day and just wanted to be a jerk - point is, shit's traumatizing man lol Action4 Jackson LMAO!!! Bless your heart!! I totally understand your sentiments dude
Reminds me of myself but it would happen playing Mortal Kombat on Sega with my older cousin. Every time he used scorpions fatality on me it scared the crap out of me.
i just got a laugh out of this. dunno why, but i imagined the factory workers all going into beast mode and just working fast as shit, all while dancing their asses off to this groove.
I remember back in 92, I aquired a VHS tape with a rolling demo of Sonic 2 (nowadays called a trailer) and was left speechless when Chemical Plant came on the screen. The music, the atmosphere....it was the future, and the most cool thing you could imagine. Now here in 2022 and it still stands as tall as it ever did.
Best OG Sonic song maybe?? That pre-bend in the final breakdown still rocks just as hard as it did in the 90s. Let’s see Nintendo do that without blast processing!!
There's a theory that Michael Jackson was somehow involved with the music for Sonic 3, no joke : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Uko0fCp86c.html
MrMargaretScratcher he did have some involvement but all that it resulted in was ice cap I believe. However brad buxer Jackson’s composer did confirm he was involved in the game, how much he didn’t know as he didn’t play the game
I would put this song against any song from any video game ever. I don't care which era, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, 20s.... this song stands the test of time. CERTIFIED BANGER 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
And the remixes.... oh my God the remixes.... there is literally not a bad version of Chemical Plant (Modern and Classic in Generations, Act 1 and 2 in Mania, the three stages from Forces) all versions are good!
I honestly think that the music industry definitely slept on a lot of video game composers of the era from the late 80s to the early 2000s. Like, the composers that worked on all the Sonic games from 1991-2005 had BOPS Galore! Tracks like Chemical Plant Zone are crystallized forms of classic jams.
Let me know if any of us 90s kids are filing a class action lawsuit against Sega for the trauma induced by Sonic drowning. My mom had to beat the water levels for me while I hid in the hallway.
Well...... i remember that i got scared from touching any water in any game of sonic after i got drowned by first time.... that means that i wasn`t able to finish any game of sonic just because i was scared of the water (by the way, that was like 6 years ago)
It's called Mega Mack. And yes, it's nearly impossible. There is a specific loop, right before which is a section with a roof. Run left from the loop and jump, and you should enter a new path, which has no Mega Mack in sight and ends right before the boss with an invincibility powerup.
Sometimes, when the entire world's gone quiet, and there isn't a single soul out in the streets- when the world is truly silent around you... I close my eyes and I fucking hear this song. Why, after 20 years, do I still hear this fucking song?
This track slaps so hard, it brought back a core memory of me and my bro playing as Tails in a onsie and bowls of cereal stuck in front of the TV at 6am trying to get through this goddamn level before my dad wakes up and whips us with the belt.
+DoktoZeOktober Why do they see it as this tough obstacle in the game; Ive never found that pink water or whatever theyre talking about hard or anything not even as an obstacle
Never been a huge fan of playing sonic but I can absolutely jam to some of the music. They knew what they were doing when they made this beautiful music
Man I love this track a lot, and I listen to it a lot, but I'm JUST NOW hearing that kickass harmony that's in the right channel during the verse, and then comes into the center during the chorus, going back and forth with the main melody. That's just insanely awesome.
Metropolis Zone is the hardest level on Sonic 2 for me (unless I play as Tails) because it has 3 acts, the attacks are unavoidable/surprising and after each act I'll only have 1 or 2 rings in order to survive the boss.
AuronInsaneDarkness I disagree. Also, I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!! Haven't even reversed it however!!!!!!! For more on the Illuminati, lizards, and 666 mark of the beast, visit www.godlikeproductions.com
Shadow is right. But playing it as a kid games were much harder than. Playing it as an adult (or even a teen) it's pretty damn easy all you do is jump to the next platform without rushing it or you'll fall down.
This track (what I remember hearing in the original advertisement for this game back in 1992) was what inspired me to get this game. It was the very first game I bought for myself. Instant classic it was...
this may well be the most known, most iconic track in gaming history, why it has less then a decibel of a percent of the total people that have watched it have liked, I will never know.
Every time I play this level indo a crazy burnout with that speed booster option they give sooooo satisfying I still this is the fastest level in all the Sonic Games
Hearing this song brings back nostalgia of this being the earliest game I can remember playing. Me and my dad, Sonic and Tails, drowning in chemicals. Ahh memories.
thqaqt shitty part where you gotta jump on top of the moving blocks when the water is coming up is a bitch. i would make it, but you have to stay on a moving platform and i would fall off and drown
I find it funny that in every main classic Sonic game there's that one track that literally everyone knows. Want examples, boy-o I've got plenty: Sonic 1, Green Hill Sonic 2, Chemical Plant Sonic CD, Stardust Speedway Bad future JP Sonic 3, Ice Cap act 1 Sonic & Knuckles, Doomsday Knuckles Chaotix (I guess it counts), Door into summer Sonic Mania, Studiopolis act 1.
Introduced this to my Kids and they were like... this is awesome! I’m like... yup I was your age when I was kicking some serious ass playing sonic. Back you had 3 lives and game over
And had to start from scratch.. no save button, no memory card, no pause button, lose a life in 3 minutes staying idle, or beyond 10 minutes, lose a life. Struggle was real
This is my favorite comment, because I legit never played Sonic. I would always go to the settings just to hear the music, because I was in awe of it. How crazy is that? A 6 year old straight vibing to this music, and this genius just created this masterwork of artful music. For fun. He really didn't have to go to these heights for each level lol
Its funny - as a kid I only ever got to play Sonic 2 at my dentist's office since he had a Genesis in the waiting room (it was the one silver lining I looked forward to about going to the tooth torturer's office lol) and I HATED Chemical Plant Zone 2 for that part where you need to jump from rotating block to rotating block while underwater. Despite that, I was always nostagic for Sonic 2, and when I finally got my own Genesis as an adult, it came with Sonic 2 and I played the crap out of it...FINALLY beating and mastering Chemical Plant 2. It has since become one of my favourite video game levels of all time, and the music is a MASSIVE part of that for me. :D
