No matter how bad Sonic has been lately, Sonic Adventure was an amazing experience. One of my first games

You know... I kinda feel like someone who's more of a Sonic fan should have narrated this. Like... maybe "SomeCallMeJohnny"? I don't know, but Jimmy just seems like a bit of an odd choice, ESPECIALLY since this whole episode is him talking about a game he despises. It just makes the video feel a bit off, when you know the narrator hates the very thing he's talking about. But when you have someone more passionate about what they're talking about, it makes the video as a whole feel better. Like when you got Max to do the Killer Instinct episode. It just felt right. Because he's a HUGE fan of the series.

It's silly when a game dev says "We're going to take the series back to its roots" and then add stuff to it that isn't part of its roots. For Sonic, it's adding all those other characters, in a 3D sonic game, taking place in a more realistic world fighting against an oddly proportioned Robotnik. Reminds me of Silent Hill: Downpour was supposed to go back to its roots despite not doing that.

The statement about cancelling the Sonic RPG but keeping "the RPG-like focus on story" irks me. Sure, many RPGs do focus on story, but it sounded like he could have been implying that that focus was one of the defining factors of an RPG. Whoever says that "a focus on story" is part of what makes an RPG an RPG doesn't know anything and just wings it when trying to define "RPG". HInt: "Role" in "RPG" doesn't mean "playing a character role"-- not as far as video game genres goes, anyway. That definition stopped being relevant for games after tabletops gave way to video games, for reasons I won't explain here. No, "role" in "RPG" means "class", like the "classes" for the party characters in Dungeons & Dragons, Kingdom Hearts, Pokemon, Final Fantasy XIII and all other main-number Final Fantasies, etc. Zelda, on the other hand, is not an RPG just because it has adventure elements. Neither is Rise of the Tomb Raider an RPG just because it has a focus on story. "Winging it" is never a valid way to define things.

I'm a 90's kid and have loved Sonic since I first played him on the Genesis. Yes it is true that Sonic hasn't had great games in the past and the classic Sonic games are the best, but I still found a bit of the modern sonic games to be fun and quite enjoyable. I will never forget experiencing sonic in his first full 3D adventure game Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast as well as enjoying the sequel. I also thought Sonic Heroes was a good game when I was younger but when have gone back and played it now, it has grown on me more. I also got to say that Sonic Colors might be the best Modern Sonic game out so far. I also have enjoyed Sonic Lost world and enjoyed playing against my friend in multiplayer, it gave me a Sonic Adventure 2 battle feel when playing against him.

No, i'm pretty sure that Perfect Chaos' design was inspired by Godzilla's Biollante.

Fun fact, there's a glitch to drown Sonic and Shadow in the Chao Garden also in the Dreamcast version. It involves picking up something an setting it down while against the wall and for some WEIRD reason it pushes them down JUST far enough to actually trigger the drowning timer. Just drain that damn pool Sega!

that's why I love Sonic Adventure, it felt like a full 3D Sonic game but has 2D elements and I loved Gamma I thought that playing as him was awesome.

I think Big the Cat was only made to advertise the Bass Fishing Game on Dreamcast because you can use the special fishing rod controller in his levels. That's why he wasn't in any other games except as an easter egg.

Sonic Adventure actually has a lot of RPG elements left over. Findable power up's scattered throughout the hub world. Key's that are needed to unlock new levels. Unlocking new character in a manner similar to adding party members. Not to mention the chao's who use a leveling system.

The Chao garden was by far the greatest part of the Sonic Adventure saga, and it's pretty widely loved. I'm still boggled Sega hasn't decided to bring it back in some form.

I'm pretty sure that the classic models were actually used in the Tornado stages in the Dreamcast version of SA1, they just got replaced in the SADX version.
