Guy just casually made a Sonic game with solid adventure gameplay *and* boost gameplay and itall just... works? I've seen some impressive Dreams projects before but this is just awesome.
They've been working on this for a while. I played a version of this back in 2021 and was even in their Discord. I haven't used Dreams much recently, but it is cool to see that they're still working on it and making improvements.
Character models aside, it looks nothing like the actual game though. Physics & controls seem to be lacking as well. As impressive as it is for a Dream project, it's not comparable to the real Sonic Adventure in any way.
This is actually kind of incredible. In Dreams you have to design all the mechanics from scratch, you can't copy over code from outside Dreams. So the fact it seems to play so similarly to modern Sonic's gameplay is a real achievement.
Ive played the game on my ps5 , and i have to say, the physics feel amazing! Tho it does have a few bugs although they can be useful (i used a glitch to save myself from falling) and the whole adventure and boost stages in one game is genius, its like the mach speed sections or something but its a boost stage instead! The level i had the most time enjoying was kingdom valley
Dig just about everything in this update, for a Dreams game they went HARD on the graphics. Molten Summit was my personal favorite level from the update.
Yeah there are some amazing games in dreams some of my favourites I’ve played are: Wingsuit world, a karting game I can’t remember the name of and crash bandicoot wumping adventures I still plan to make my own crash bandicoot inspired 3d platformer called Donny dingo I currently have ideas for 6 levels
I need to see a Sonic Dreams game which is not named like that because it was made in Dreams, but due to the game taking place in a dream world... it would be an interesting game
I love how you could swap between adventure formula and boost formula in stages! I think this combo is the best gameplay style in the series! Hope Sega takes notes for Sonic X Shadow!
Its so funny to me how everything was looking super carefully constructed visually and veru consisted and then kingdom valley showed up looking like skyrim
I like this creator alot, he saw alot of potential in Sonic Unleash and wants most of the 3D featured animations from that game and make it even better. I hope he achieves his dream because i'll be definetly playing his fan game. God speed and God bless!
WHAT A WASTE NOT TO BRING THIS TO PC... So little few people will ever get to experience it... a waste of time to develop a game that gets played on 1 platform, while cutting everyone else out...
This game is better made than over half of the 3d Sonic games we have in existence. Waiting on those last emeralds! Hopefully we can replay stages as golden Sonic and maybe have a separate leader board for people that transform during a stage. The times would be so lightning fast that it would be necessary. Maybe make a button optional to transform but as soon as you do, your top 100 score goes on a "page 2" of the speedrun list? Idno, just a thought to include it but not make the leader boards broken at the same time 💁
Indie game developers will hopefully push the "Big guys" to try a LOT harder if this is the kind of thing being developed by something like Patron and being released to the rest of the general public for free.
Just started playing and it feels like a spiritual sequel to Sonic Unleashed and I Love it. Yeah it's not perfect, but is overall an extremely fun play experience. Honestly the guy who made this really took the best aspects of hub worlds from Sonic Adventure and Unleashed, and added really fun side quests with an incentive to replay stages and get more emblems to unlock more content. Sega needs to hire this guy! I love this!
No, the hub is terribly executed, there is practically no gameplay, the mandatory recruitment of emblems is a terrible idea that those who played in Unleashed will confirm to you. In the SEGА is to much such game designers This whole gameplay formula is incredibly outdated and stagnates Well, the guy who done it on naked enthusiasm - well done, At least he does not require $ 40
My question is how does SEGA consistently make worst Sonic games than this. Seems like Millions of dollars and dozens of devs pale compared to single passionate developers.
While I do feel SEGA has dropped the ball with Sonic for years, managing those millions of dollars and dozens of devs to make your vision a reality is vastly more challenging than doing what amounts to modding by yourself. Wish either SEGA or individual devs would make a great Sonic game at some point, though.
@@FakerofReality We've seen that before too many times. I'm looking for someone to commit to the idea of fully trying to capture the Adventure style alone. Enough of the Boost already. We haven't been able to shake it for over a decade and it's way beyond stale.
@Kuzamer your allowed to feel that way certainly, but seeing as SEGA continues to use the boost style and people continue to play and enjoy the games were it is used, I don't think the boost style is the milked up cow people call it. If you want a return to adventure, you can find many fan games that emulate and improve on that style of gameplay. Personally, I like that the creator chose to make levels for both crowds
@@FakerofReality I really don't care what you want or think. I'd rather Sonic control like an actual character again. Especially since we're trying the Open Zone thing now. Those rigid Boost mechanics don't fit the freedom the games are trying to target now.

If Sonic Frontiers paired itself with this game and Sonic Omens’ cutscenes then I’d happily have bought as an official game. SEGA really needs to partner with the fans fr.
Waiting when add function play as other characters (I mean play as Tails, Knuckles and Amy) because in original sonic Adventure you can select 5 characters
Fan made games are starting to look better than the industry's. Maybe putting creativity in a choke hold of expectations and wokism is no longer the way to go. Psyche, it never was. Fans play Sonic, ergo, fans know what they want from a Sonic game, but the productions for Sonic games seem to miss the key aspects of what REALLY puts you in the shoes of Sonic the hedgehog
I continue to dream of the Sonic game, in which there will be without springs, accelerate-panels, and jet-rings, And most importantly, without robots / balls, what is needed only for Homing Attack movement, and without Light Dash
This honestly looks impressive, with more polish it could be a genuinely good Sonic game... (Like, officially. Touch up some models, add voice acting...) Which makes it even more impressive that there basically hasn't been a good official 3D Sonic game since Adventure 2 - especially considering this was done by one guy in something like Dreams of all things. I don't even know if I've ever seen underwater 3D Sonic before, or if I have it must've been forgettable. And just like-... The functioning homing attack? And ring dashing? And spring cutscenes, loop-de-loop cutscenes, all that-... The levels that have both 2D perspective AND 3D perspective?! In DREAMS?! I'm mostly just surprised it even works like it does. It's like if somebody made a competent Sonic game using Roblox, or RPGMaker - while somehow still making it look and feel like a Sonic game should.

How can a Game look so clunky jet so fluid. This is amazing. Graphics and Animation wise it looks awful...but the gameplay looks so responsive and fun. Im so confused right now. But in a good way.
Would be really cool to see SA1 or SA2 physics when Sonic runs. The bounce helps with the appearance of mass and momentum. Thats my only critique man. Other than that this is perfect. I’d buy it yesterday if possible.
@sonicovertime When I was a kid, if you took something like this to a company like SEGA they would hire you on the spot or make you an intern, These days you get cease & desist or at worst, copyright strike. This looks great & wish you nothing but the best

Bro you can't just make a boost game and stick Adventure on its name... You can't make an "Adventure" game and put boost into it... Adventure's identity is not their storyline or level design, but the handling and physics...
It’s so funny to me that a series that is renowned for the third game being caught in licensing hell over the music that the fans of that series just whole sale steal all the music from the series and use it unabashedly in their “Own” projects lol 😂 I can’t believe people are surprised Dreams failed when it’s nothing but brazen IP theft and copyright infringement.
Why has no one thought of this. Just have adventure style and boost style in the same game. Everyone’s happy. Better yet let people choose before the stage starts

with a name like adventure i would expect a full 3d game like the adventure era but there's way too many 2d sections so i immediately lost interest wish this wasn't called adventure
If you have control of the animations can you center sonic's gravity while he is spinning? It feels weird how sonic wobbles instead of spinning in a perfect cirular motion
The original Sonic adventure game was straight adventure even through level advancement it felt more adventure like and less sped up linear racing like these new sonic games take notes more from the tail’s and knuckles missions in sonic adventure 2 .
This still feels and looks like some weird hodgepodge unity ass base asset thrown together half game with no originality or direction. You’re better off making an original game then trying to imitate in this form
Does not have sonic adventure vibes, it does remind me more of Sonic 06 through due to the levels. Even through for me Sonic 06 i the true sonic adventure 3.
That giant arrow in the middle of the screen is a pain to watch, maybe if it was behind Sonic it would still be easy to see and not in the way of where you need to go.
