Yes, most microphones don't pic up the intonation as well as the human ear, but I have found microphones pick up the sound much better at a distance indoors.

KITTYKAT1100101 I have to disagree. they had barely any power, okay articulation, but their tones were pretty good. for the real tuba experience look up bcu tubas, vsu tubas, nsu, or jsu.

actually, its name is Snake Pitt (with 2 t's) named after the group that originally wrote the tune. It has since picked up the name Sonic Boom. both names mean the same tune

SeasonZeroYami You must not know much about music theory. Allow me to educate you. It's very difficult to pull off this song, as the syncopation actually makes it sound offbeat. Near the beginning, as you said, it does sound "offbeat". Probably because there is a quarter note, followed by a quarter rest. The note after is a dotted eighth note tied to a sixteenth note, causing you to actually play on the "offbeat", or commonly referred to as the "upbeat". Now, before you go insulting another sousaphone section that sounds this good, please take note that you will get "served" by another sousaphone player who happens to know a little more about music and theory than you do. Good day.
