Welcome to a fangame called 'Sonic Classic Heroes', a very fun reimagining of 2D Sonic based on the first two games in the series. This time it features Tails & Knuckles as playable characters that we can switch to at any time from usually just playing as Sonic. Also included is both the Sonic 1 & 2 special stages, where we need to collect both sets of the chaos & sol emeralds, collecting one set of the emeralds will give us the Super forms, but grabbing both allows us to transform into Hyper Sonic, as well as Hyper Tails & Knuckles, complete with each of their OP abilities. We can then be awarded with the best version of the final ending when we defeat Mecha Sonic & the Death Egg Robot in the final zone of Sonic 2.
The fangame features its own unique user-interface for the main menu and ring/time counters, also being improved later in the 2022 version. We have the classic sprite work from the third game and the option to instead play as 16-bit Team Chaotix, made up of Espio, Charmy & Vector which we've also covered with its own video on the channel.
‼ Note - This version I'll be playing is a custom ROM, available for the 'Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Classics' release of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 on Steam (Now not available on the store). You can still download the mod by searching for Sonic Classic Heroes on the collections Steam workshop page. It can also be found online for all other genesis emulators.
