@bugsyfoga ... it wont, i used to be excided for stuff like this but it just wont be good, the generations part might be just the same but then again, we can buy that for 20 bucks on steam with loads of mods to keep on comming back. And the shadow part will be 3 to 4 hours of bland levels with just straight lines that play itself. Just like forces and cyberspace
@@MR.GreenBird I don't know, Frontiers seemed to figure out a good balance between everything when it comes to 3D sonic, so if it's being designed with those same principles in mind it might be decent. It looks like it's mostly remakes of sonic adventure 2 levels anyways, so they already have a pretty good basis for the rest of it. My guess is it's probably not going to be a lot of content added though, they showed maybe three different levels in the trailer? I'd assume it's just going to be sonic generations but with some shadow levels.
@@Sebarants the shadow gameplay uses the frontier engine, which feels stiff and unnatural in the liniar stages. Its true that we have only seen a bit of gameplay, but for both forces and cyberstage everyone who was worried from the start got critizized for being too quick to judge and they turned out to be right. The sad fact is that there hasn't been a 3d sonic game that has come even close to generations since that game came out, not even frontiers. And generations isn't even my favorite boost. The fact is that every sonic fan gets burned by a game they got hyped forcand after that you cant trust sega anymore, and the game that burned my was frontiers. Frontiers is a mid sonic game ad best and a really bad game compared with any other botw open world style game, sega was way to ambitius and droped the ball, they should just go back to the havok engine and start making sonic games where sonic is fun to controll, not a stiff thing that feels like it has no weight and feels like its a masive f u to the laws of motion. How have we gone from 2d pinball physics to stop from mach 1 to 0 in a 60th of a second. Also other rant.... SEGA REALLY, how is there not a single sonic game on pc that goes over 60 fps... COME ON
It was as bad as the internet made it to be. I remember playing it on launch day on my Switch, my most vivid memory of playing it was when one of the game land stages literally turned into an unplayable black void midway through the level. The stuff you'd just stumble across in launch Colors Ultimate was crazy lmao.
Colors suffered from what every Sonic game suffers from; Going fast means making a ton of terrain. The original plan was for the game to be structured like Generations; two main acts per zone with five or so bonus stages. Problem is, Colors would be over in 45 minutes if the game was structured that way. There's a mod for the wii version that restores the original stage order, and the "main" stages are the ones which have the majority of the 3D sections. A true "Ultimate" edition in my eyes would restore the original stage structure, use the Frontiers model for Sonic instead of the glossy eyed Colors model, give us a choice of a lives counter versus a death counter Crash 4 style and update the controls to match Generations/Unleashed, rather than have everything be contextual so it can fit on a wiimote no nunchuk.
The only part of the story I hate is the cutscene that teases a Tails fight and just leaves it forever. It's basically Tails's mech suit from Lost World: They had such a good opportunity to change the story in such an interesting way... but nah.
I despise it myself.. my fav sonic narrative is still adventure 2 to this day, or maybe secret rings idk, I mean the sonic games were never remotely as "light-hearted" as colours in the first place before that point so idk where he was coming from with that, not even in the classics, the classics were full of style and flair and actual attitude more than anything, and were aided by sonic being silent and not desperately trying to sound funny and relatable to the kids every 2 minutes, I can't stand the cast in this game man
sonic colors is the game that got me into sonic; when i was like 7, i would always run around my house to reach for the stars whenever i played the game 😭💗 and even now, that song never fails to make me happy. SO, this game has a special place in my heart, and i have fond memories of it. but this remaster was so dissapointing. i remember i was at school the day it came out and i was just scrolling through twitter seeing all the glitches and i was like "oh..." and then when i finally got to playing it, i was still very happy because like the game was my childhood, but obviously i was not satisfied. i still love this game, but on switch it just does NOT run well, and it's sad because this game deserves more!! i still love it and play it every once in a while...but it ended up just being a cash grab. :( sonic colors and reach for the stars, i will always love u! needless to say tho i agree with scott here HAHA
I feel like I'm crazy man, I played through this on ps5 and ran into so so many bugs, it's embarrassing, I promise I wasen't going out of my way to find them too, they are still there to this day, easy to find. Also the patch to fix the music so it's "only original tracks" is only a tiny bandaid on a big cut, tracks that don't play the original versions at all, like the boss battles and the intro, ONLY have the remixed versions, no matter what toggle you set, the original versions are not even in the sound test.
At least you could play this game on the Go. But Glitches, Only One Added Wisp, No new side story’s, No Sonic Colors DS contents, 30FPS (Switch), I rather play the original.
Yo we are NOT going to forget how 95% of the remixes for this game's ost was WORSE than the originals lmao. You don't need to go far to see it for yourself either. Literally the first level tropical resort as this awful off-key paino in the background now. Literally sounds like a meme-ified version of the song
I say this before and I'll say it again. The DS version is the superior version to Colors. It has better writing, better level designs & better pacing. Colors Ultimate is nowhere near the same level and for being the inferior version, there is no way it is the " Ultimate " version. This makes me worry about Sonic × Shadow Generations more because if they do the same as they did with Colors Ultimate, than I'm done.
I disagree, I’m one of the few that prefers the Wii version, probably because I’m biased but I just prefer the gameplay more. Ultimate imo is, alright. It’s fine but not the best way to play it.
DS version is basically another overglorified Sonic Rush level pack like Rush Adventure was. Colours on the Wii on the other hand was the first actual good game made using the Hedgehog Engine.
@Clbull118 True. But IMO, it's the best one because the level designs aren't as obnoxious as Rush and it doesn't have that grinding material to upgrade the boats and overdue cutscenes that slows the pacing down like Rush Adventure.
Interesting fact (and if I can remember correctly), the Switch version runs on the Godot engine. The studio who ported the game even had to be called out on Twitter in order to get them to acknowledge it.
In an alternate universe we never got sonic origins, but mega collection+ ultimate edition including sonic eraser and a bonus music cd that just have 2 songs on it: sonic eraser theme and sonic spinball options menu. And instead of Sonic generations x shadows we got Sonic unleashed ''The unleasheining''.
As someone whose favorite sonic game is Somic Colors, I find Ultimate ok. It definitely has its problems but its still Colors ar the end of the day. Though I am looking forward to Project Re-Rainbow.
Haha, look, im glad you liked it, but for me, it was fun for a week and never after it, for me know its an active drag to play, its boring, the world is empty and cyberspace is a bigger joke than sonic boom. They also just botched the updates, the final update released months after everyone already beat the game and i just couldn't get trough it, i tried but the core gameplay loop is some of the worst in the 3d games, it was fun cuz it was new, now the novelty has worn off and it just isn't good anymore, i'll play colors any day over frontiers and i dont like colors that much either. Unleashed still is peak boost for me, eventhough i can admit that the werehog isn't for everybody (and generations is also good i guess but ive got some issues with that game too)
As for the music I can definitely understand some may or may not like it. their pretty mixed, most of the ones for me personally done by jun was pretty nice, but the ones done by ohtani kinda fell off for more me but atleasts theirs a option to change it to the original I think~ :>
I honestly find this to be the best version of Colors and it was already my favorite Sonic game period. I really appreciate not only the refinement from the original and the add-ons to make it even better. I even played it on the Switch as well and have no regrets whatsoever.
Honestly I grew up with Sonic Colors on the Wii AND the DS, Sonic Colors on the Wii was my first Sonic title and I still play it to this day, the DS game was fun but I got it way later in life, Now I can understand what Scott is saying because he kinda has a point but Sonic Colors is so nostalgic for me… It will always be held in my heart as my FAVORITE Sonic game. (With Sonic The Hedgehog 2 coming in at a close second) When I first seen the trailer for Ultimate I jumped out of my seat with excitement. They were finally showing this game some love by porting it to new consoles, when it released I didn’t understand the hate it got until I played it for myself… I WAS PISSED, it looked way to bright, the glitches obviously showed that it was rushed and realized THIS IS WHAT A BAD GAME IS. I hate to say it but the Wii port looks better than it HELL even the DS version.
I just picked up the ps4 version like 2 days before Christmas Eve in a Walmart clearance bin for $9. I guess getting it for ps4 pro / ps5 was the better choice then the switch version
I was lucky to not experience any save lost. Only glitch I experienced is music glitches. Overall I really enjoyed this game to get the platinum and all achievements
Why not just play other platformers that aren’t Sonic? There’s plenty of good ones out there, many that even have the same kind of gameplay. No reason they have to use the same character.
@@Tom-jw7iiyeah there's other ones out there like sparky but it's not *just* about the gameplay either, really, there's no one game that comes close to encapsulating everything people love or loved about the franchise
I’ll be honest, I appreciate Sonic Colors for for rejuvenating Sonic but of the four Boost games, it’s in the lower tier for me. Forces is worse IMO, and honestly I think I had more fun with Unleashed. When it comes to high speed thrills I prefer Unleashed as it handles that asset a lot better, stages are a bit longer, have a higher feeling of speed and are more fulfilling. Make no mistake that game isn’t perfect, it’s got issues with the Werehog and medal collecting, but I find Unleashed as a game more exciting. It can be tough at times as it can get a little too difficult by the end, Unleashed expects a lot more from the player, compared to your typical platformer, it alienated a lot of fans, Colors on the other hand is not only easier and less demanding but is WAY more consistent. If you want people to feel comfortable with your game, enjoy it and maybe encourage them to play and buy the other games, you start with Sonic Colors.
I don’t understand why they haven’t remastered/re-released Sonic Unleashed yet! Like it’s one of the BEST sonic games out there- arguably the best or at least second best boost game- and one of the only sonic games you can’t play on PC or PS5 yet… like PLEASE SEGA GIVE US A RE-RELEASE!! Like why are we getting generations before unleashed?
Well it's because Unleashed is a very controversial game. Some like it. Others don't. It's not the worst Sonic game out there. But it's far from the best as well.
@@jaretco6423 BRUH Okay yes the warehog stages are controversial but it’s no secret that the day stages are some of the most polished, addicting, and fun in the serious. PERIOD GURLY SLAY
@AUGUSTIN-MUSIC I don't know about that. The daytime levels can be obnoxious and punishing alot of times and it's nowhere near as polished & fun as you think. It is addicting. Sure. But not polished & fun. Also the Werehog segment is dull and the Sun & Moon medal hunt sucks.
@@jaretco6423 yes I agree with the medal hunt point you brought up… it is momentum killing and TERRIBLE. But I totally disagree w ur other points. Day stages are really well crafted in my opinion, best in the series. But ig we’re just gonna have to disagree ahah. Much luv tho bro
@AUGUSTIN-MUSIC Once again. Can't agree with you on the daytime stages being well crafted and fun. They are way too unpolished & annoying. Personally, I say Generations has better level designs that Unleashed could've been, with no Werehog & medal hunting on top of that.
@minergamer65 it's true sadly, when i got it when i was like 8 i was hoping it would atleast have some 3d aspects at least the 3d effect the 3ds was able to pull off. The sprites barly were 3d i will admit flying around as a ball of gas it fun but it still was lacking
