Today we're taking a look at Sonic Dream Team, the new high budget mobile game Hardlight has been working on for a while now. I know its been a little bit since my last upload, but I've been working really hard to finish Sonic Cybernetics Episode 5 and needed some time to make some huge dents in its production. All these playable characters again is like a dream come true. This game looks amazing, but I do hope though we can back to a more urban setting soon. It's a preference I know, but I really want to see Sonic running through large cities again.

You know I have been watching your videos for a while and I was wondering, if you could change anything about the sonic franchise what would it be? I also really enjoyed this video, keep up the good work.

Thanks! I think continuity has been an issue of the franchise. Like they never explained how the moon was brought back to normal from the events of SA2. I would think the heroes just used all seven chaos emeralds to reverse the damage or heal the moon from the eclipse cannon blast. In terms of the games themselves, I think I would want to change Shadow The Hedgehog. Not completely change it but change certain things about the story and the way the game is set up and designed. And for the characters, I would definitely want more of the classic characters modernized. I think other than that I’m pretty happy with the series as a whole, love the diversity of the Sonic world and how all the stories bring something different to the table.

@@soniccreations Yeah the sonic world has some very interesting and diverse characters that are fun to read. They also have so many characters they could work with in the future. As a youtuber by the named sonictoast talked about there being over 3000 different unique characters that have been created in all the main games, comics, and movies so far. Which to me is just insane, imagine trying to incorporate even a tenth of that into a game or better yet a movie.

Yeah that would be very difficult to do. But it doesn’t have to be done all at once and not every single character out of the 3000 has to make it in. But they should choose a solid 10-20 characters they want to introduce for the next decade of Sonic games. Instead they keep making new characters😂 which is fine, I like the new characters too. I would really want IDW characters in the games. We should probably get a Sonic Heroes 2 so they can introduce new teams.

I recently met Roger at a nearby convention. He’s a sweet affectionate guy and who had the time and patience to talk to everyone.

Good news Cream is playable. Bad news it's an Apple arcade exclusive so 90% of us can't even play it.

I wouldn’t say 90%😂 but yes I agree it’s frustrating. I still haven’t played Spiderman 2 cause I don’t have a PS5 yet, I understand the pain of exclusive games. But it’s nothing new really. The bigger problem to me personally is needing an apple arcade subscription. A subscription for a game is just strange. I’m really just talking about the game itself in the video, not really interested in talking about everything else around it.

@@soniccreations Look at the comment section of the announcement trailer. So many comments with 100 or 1000s of upvotes of people complaining about Apple arcade and/or asking for the game to be released on other platforms. So I'm sure it's a BIG chunk of the overall fanbase, myself included.

Oh for sure, theres no doubt about that. I do wonder if they anticipated this being a problem or not. I think they just saw how well Sonic does on the AppStore with games like Speed Battle and decided an exclusive full game would be a good idea. Definitely wouldn’t have happened at all without Apple so its a weird situation.

@@soniccreations I mean sure I'm definitely happier with this existing as an Apple exclusive than not existing at all. I guess I could buy an Iphone or some shit down the line if it never gets ported. Probably won't get to play it any time soon though unfort.

Possibly, if I find the right story to tell with them in a flashback episode. But that would be far into the future if I do, although I do have some stories in mind for that. So, we’ll see👍

I’m very conflicted on this game. Sonic Dream Team looks really promising and fun. It’s nice to see that it will have multiple playable characters and unique colorful levels. It genuinely looks really fun to play as well. However, I really wish it wasn’t tied to a subscription service. It would be one thing if the game was set at a specific price point. But being exclusive to Apple Arcade is unfortunate. Not only are you limiting it to Apple devices; but many people, including myself, rather pay for it once and just own it. Ultimately, it’s a shame that a genuinely good looking game like Sonic Dream Team is locked behind a crummy subscription service. I really hope someday, it becomes either available on other platforms or it becomes a regular game you can purchase once and just own it.

Yeah the subscription thing I get that thats gonna turn a lot of people off. When it comes to it being an Apple exclusive, well if they hadn’t funded the game wouldn’t exist at all, just like Sony’s Spiderman games by Insomniac. Its not a mainline AAA experience so its not that bad that its exclusive and they can’t breach their contract with Apple as well. So its a mixed bag when it comes to everyone getting their hands on it, but other than that the game looks like a step up from most other mobile games out there and clearly had a higher budget.
