The mod generally feels like someone has restored cut parts of each level. When this mod is done it could generally be the definitive version of the game.
It's been so long since I played Forces that i forgot how the levels looks, i though this was just a mod to make the levels look much better, not that they change the level itself, cuz i was so confused to think that: did Forces levels were actually this good?
One of my weird hangups about Modern Classic Sonic is that they don't do enough twists and stuff with the camera like in Generations' classic green hill. Glad the dev(s) out some in iron fortress
So the major re-imagining is just imagining the created character wasn't there? Personally I find the created character is one of the more interesting parts of Sonic Forces while the customization was underwhelming I feel it was a very long time coming for this sort of game to be realized because people have made original sonic characters for a long time. It also meshes pretty well with the army resistance vibes and does well to help establish that more people besides sonic and his friends exist on this planet like IDW does in the sonic metal virus saga. I only wish maybe they took the more intricate story of Sonic Frontiers and the involvement of Iann Flynn and mixed those together with this concept of having a player character, but having a better character creator.
Well basically half the stage is completely different. Like actual new geometry and such. With custom events like the giant crab walking around and such. Abit hard to explain but it's basically entirely different for like 50% of the level or more.
IRON FORTRESS THO!!! My most hated level. (and probably a lot of people's most hated level in the game) I dunno what bonehead thought the AUTO SCROLL parts of the stage was a good idea THIS IS WAY BETTER!!
This game would've been better if it was exactly like this but no the made the game short and the boss battles aren't that interesting either imagine if they made the ai in the boss battles aggressive the higher the difficulty you're playing on like on normal difficulty they're not that aggressive but on hard difficulty they're aggressive.
Ironically Aqua Road is 🔥. The enslaved workers added to Arsenal Pyramid is a great addition to the atmosphere. Same with the citizens screaming throughout Sunset Heights. Oh btw, I forgot to include in the description but the Shadow Avatar is by SonicOnBox, you can get it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vlDEMlSU1vA.html
Most Sonic Forces mods just add a bunch of obstacles to the level but that doesn’t fix that the levels themselves are mediocre at best. This actually makes the levels decent.
@@clairemcdaid4310bro, that’s a gross over simplification of the boost, if we look at games like sonic unleashed or generations, you’re not going in a straight line for most of the level, you’re rail grinding, wall jumping, going to alternate pathways, etc. and the goal is to keep up your speed with said pathways, they’re shortcuts, not just straight lines, there is a lot of stuff to do in those stages, not just going in a straight line and dodging obstacles TLDR: the boost formula is about memorising the levels and keeping up your speed, racking up a score and trying to get the highest rank.
I never thought I'd see a fan mod add environmental story-telling to a game. It's incredible how much those touches add to the experience, and how easily Sega could've had this in the game from Go, but didn't.
They shouldn't have spent 2 years on the game's engine and 1 or 2 years on the concept/ideas/premise of the game while leaving only 1 whole year to the actual gameplay. Not to mention they shouldn't have lied about what team was making the game.
@@gameman5804 doesn't matter, still shouldn't have taken more time to work on over the main gameplay. Also it was said by Iizuka in 2016 that people of the A and B teams of sonic team (the A team that made generations and the B team with colors) was going to make forces and in the end that was a lie. Only one person from the B team (who also lead the development for lost world) along with some newbies who knew nothing about sonic made forces. So once again, they shouldn't have lied to us.
well if not for forces's flops, they may have not had more motivations to make sonic frontiers a better game. Sometimes mistakes is necessary for a Better version or improv and learning from the mistakes and not repeating them.
I've played the original levels more then I'd like to admit, I can not believe what they accomplished here!! Stage 8 is fantastic. That part with Shadow integrated into the level, I couldn't believe my eyes. I liked the art design and music in forces, but that level design was just awful. Seeing the ideas Sonic Team created but barely took advantage of, fleshed out and brought to its full potential is outstanding.
Vanilla Forces’ level design was hold down the boost button, shoot things here and there, or mash dropdash. But here? They took the barebones and built it up to make something actually GOOD!
ye! Sonic's "right, partner?" line can now be interpreted as him teasing his frenemy and Shadow's silence can be interpreted as him just wanting to focus on the mission. Their chemistry feels a lot more natural rather than Sonic being all buddy-buddy with a guy he's barely interacted with.
To be honest, I think this is what the cyberspace stages are turning out to be like. Straight Paths with elements leading to different pathways. Honestly, this seems to work well out well for special acts!
@@ctpp64 I don't think them being short is that much of an issue since they are like 50 of em in the game and they are special stages too but i can agree with the other thing tho. The physics in cyberspace need a lot of tweaking.
It wouldn't have killed to have a bit more speed in the levels tho, although it would've made the stages even shorter than they already are. But overall you are right, so far the only Cyberspace levels with Forces-like level design are the two tutorial ones, everything after that is incredibly more fleshed out, the City Escape Cyberspace in particular.
Sonic and Shad working together, is honestly something I would like to see more of, they worked together in some games, but especially O6, we're they had the normal rivalry/respect for each other and friendship. Not the, "I'm more Superior than all of you!!!!!!!!" attitude we have today.
Bro, that's only in Sonic Boom. In the mainline games, Shadow is fine and doesn't act like a edgylord as you might think. Proof of this is the Episode Shadow DLC from Sonic Forces.
@@sebastianmartinez5963 Did you forget about Shadow the Hedgehog (the game)? He acts like that in his own game. Also, Episode Shadow doesn't proof that at all. PERIOD.
@@DarkShadowX9 It is true that Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) was a setback as far as Shadow's characterization is concerned and that because of that game Shadow gained the fame of being an edgy character, but honestly I didn't think it was bad to see Shadow in a state existential crisis, not knowing who he is and having vague flashbacks of his past. In addition, the end of the game was correct, because there Shadow decides to put aside his past in order to move forward. And that leads us to Sonic 06 where we see a fully grown Shadow, willing to help Sonic and his friends when they need it most and forging a friendship with Rouge and Omega and that would continue to this day. To be clear, I only take into account games that are part of the canon, so games like: Sonic Chronicles or Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric I don't take them into account, let alone IDW comics.
Man, sunset heights was already the Best level in the Game, but now it's 100 times better, it's what i want back day, we're running trough a warzone, the people around are screaming for backup and help, all that while we're chasing shadow
This should have been called Sonic Forces Extended cause the stages had the same layouts but extended in some areas. But Re-imagined sound good cause modders are trying to make a better stage here 😂
Like most of time, modders do what SEGA didn't. For real, the stages looks like they always should have been with main path and from it, you have take different pathways. Honestly, it worth the detour for a casual Forces playhrought with this mod. And if Cyberspace levels turn out like this, then it we will have something pretty nice to enjoy. Combine with Harder Bosses mod and Forces is an improved title to play. What modders did like here is extracting as much as possible all the potential they can get. While going throughout Sunset Heights, you can hear citizens screaming all around. Nice little details we now have here. #SonicForces-Revamped_Edition
I’m pretty surprised at how much the new camera angles literally don’t cause the game to crash and burn like seriously this game would be burning while somebody will probably parish from that so literally it baffles me that this is possible like heavy said’s in team fortress 2 No it’s not possible
sorry if this out of topic but sonic overtime what your thought on the sonic froniter monster hunter dlc (i was like huh neat and cool. I wonder if there will be a crossover mission or level or boss fight in sonic froniter with monster hunter either way the outfit is cool)
@@Neoniq41 06 has so many more fundamental problems with its over reliance on combat, Mach speed, hub worlds, and wretched story that only delusional people can call “good”.
The multiple pathways are good but half of the time it just feels so empty, like the creators had no idea what to put in next so they just added in extra straight line running segments.
Sunset heights looks actually insane, ngl I was pretty iffy on the stuff before it but holy shit that level is badass now The integration of shadow into the level is actually genius
This is actually really incredible!! I still don't like how different-y the physics and gameplay of Forces are to Generations but this is 1000% an improvement over the original game we were given by Sega. Kudos to the team behind Sonic Forces Re-Imagined!!
Starting to think they should not make rough drafts of ideas and the community will do Sonic as a brand a whole lot better than Sega to be bluntly honest. Fans have made piss ass games for Sonic far better and completing the idea it seemed Sega was going for. This is why I think deadlines, can be as harmful. Rush to finish something, and something can turn out to be half done when it could be as seamless as this.
Replacing the oc with shadow makes this game kinda gay? Idk I always heard fist bump as a gay love ballad until the lyric “last fist bump” it’s like it’s playing around with censorship!
While the mod does make the levels a bit longer which is good, they still feel way too short and easy, especially for the later levels. You basically never care about any enemies because they're useless. I guess it's just the game itself that is fundamentally flawed.
Shadow with the gadgets makes so much sense. Just weave in those opening shadow level levels and then story and gameplay could flow much better. Just edit out "rookie" which shouldn't be so hard, considering how much they pause before and after "rookie"
I honestly think that the way he's modded these levels have made them pretty clean. It still sucks though because all of the levels in Forces are literally like the shortest levels you could possibly have in any game, and there's a %99.5 chance that they will never change how short they are in the future.
It’s not perfect, nor do I feel like I’d enjoy playing the soulless game that is Forces again, but this mod certainly feels like it fixed a lot of things about the original game and made it actually playable. Great job 👍
I feel snubbed by sega for that 40 dollar ps4 purchase years ago. But mods like this...make me think that a 10 dollar or sub 10 dollar purchase of this one of these days might actually be worth it.
