Minor correction: Chaos, despite being.... Quite the sonic staple at this point, IS part of greek mythology and is essentially the original entity of greek mythology, even creating those that came the primordial deities such as Nyx and Erebus. That could represent the original plan to have it be where the factory of titans was held!

Something to note is that the Ouranos portion of the early Kronos map is actually a bit smaller than the final Ouranos Island. If you compare the islands´ sillouetes you´ll see that the final Ouranos overlaps some of Rhea Island. My theory is that they focused on expanding Ouranos during the final development cicles, which is probably why there´s no remains of this original final island. (If it even existed in the first place since Eggman only mentions three islands on his memos, so there´s also the chance that we were simply meant to return to Kronos for the games finale.)

I think the game was originally only going to be Kronos, Ares and Chaos island, with the first being the massive combination of Kronos, Rhea and Ouranos that everyone knows about. Kishimoto said that Kronos was split up because playtesters thought it was too big and empty, so they opted to have a smaller island with more in it. And even in the final game, Eggman himself mentions this. He talks about why the ancients didn’t rule the world “outside these *three* piddly islands”. However it’s possible that the mothership could’ve acted as a 4th “island” that the original final boss would’ve taken place on

When it comes to the final two islands, Kronos wasn't just cut because of time, but mainly due to Playtesters. They said that it was boring and not fun. So the developers decided to split them up to help make the first island be filled up more and to help with pacing and getting the player familiar with the gameplay loop. As for what this 4th island could be, i think it just was Ouranos but probably with more intresting architecture to explore, like the ship. From the dialogue, we know their world ship is busted as Sage refers to it as all that is left. With the new content Update 3 is adding, we know that Ouranos will be given a new object layout and a better ending. I don't beleive there was a proper 4th original island, as we have nothing concrete regarding what it could have looked like, all we really know is there was a cut space ship, and that's it really lol. Which what Update 3 brings, i think Ouranos will be given the upgrade it needs, sadly i doubt they'll change the visual look of it, tho

In the kronos beta shot that we have(the part where sonic jumps), there is a place in the right that in the original game simply doesn't exist. Maybe that is were the ship was located? Evidence shows that maybe we were going to return to the first island and unlock the final area. In the egg memos Eggman mentions the islands, but he says "in these 3 islands" or something like that, so it maybe points that the ship maybe crashed on an island. Who knows! I love seeing more of the lore of this game. Love the video!!

at this point i honestly hope we get a complete sequel to frontiers that allows the cut ideas from the game to be fully realised

With the New Story part of Update 3, and the characters featured, I do hope it is more a retelling of that 'power of friendship' bit so the other characters actually do something to cure Sonic, and a proper ending to the game, too. Personally, I would love it if the three characters rode up next to Super Sonic and Supreme Sage in the Titans that were featured in their islands and have a proper 5 V 1 boss battle against The End

Great video! Morio Kishimoto has said on Twitter that Ouranos will see an overhaul along with the story additions, so perhaps we'll see some remains of the Ancient's worldship in there? I'm looking forward to seeing what will change.

Actually if you see the beta verison of kronos it has rhea & Ouranos included but theres floating structures in the sky so that could be the ships.

It was a good time to put this video out because everyone was having fun with update 2 especially the spin dash. Man it’s cool to see Sega true potential if they give this game more time in production. I hope update 3 is huge because there’s a lot of questions goes unanswered. And alot of feedback and promises from the developers is in the right hand that will give sonic frontiers a higher score.

Hopefully Sega will see the success of Frontiers and gives Sonic Team more money and even more time to work on the next game. Also hot take, I didn't mind The End fight, as bare bones and underwhelming as it was. Thought it was a cool representation of Sage's character development with switching from dark to light shots. And the music is cool, parts of it remind me of the main theme of the Ori games.

honestly even though ouranos is just kronos 3, i actually think its the best island in the game for me, its somehow prettier, larger, better island theme and the cyberspace levels go hard though if they are able to for update 3, id love to see them create new textures for ouranos that changes the island's overall theming, whether it be autumn or winter, id love to see some new theming if they have the time to do so

one thing that sucks was that line where sonic was saying “they took your homes they took your lives” that was meant to be sonic talking the ancients to get their power and become hyper sonic

I really liked the last two islands still, but lack of a "Cyber Sonic" is in my opinion the biggest missed potential with Frontiers. After using Super Sonic throughout the whole game, it only made sense to me to have a new shiny form to make the endgame stand out more. I think in my ideal Frontiers, without adding substantial content, I would change it like this: Rhea Island takes place after Ouranos, and after fighting Supreme. Super Sonic gets shot down by a last-ditch attack from Supreme, and the emeralds scatter to each of the towers. After each tower you actually feel the effects of the corruption, with movement speed getting gradually slower and more sluggish, until the last tower, in which he goes into the cataconic state seen in the game. The same cutscene happens up until before his friends use the power of friendship, and instead, that's when Sage tells Eggman he NEEDS to help him. Eggman brings the gang the last emerald, and in a Sonic 06-esque scene, they use the power of the emeralds to bring Sonic back. However, he doesn't go Super; similarly to Perfect Chaos and Super Sonic utilizing the negative and positive energy of the emeralds respectively, the emeralds temporarily absorb cyber corruption whilst reviving Sonic, and he becomes Cyber Sonic - a Dark Sonic adjacent form with blank white eyes, quills on end, and constantly flashing with cyber energy - to which he and Sage take on The End. Even just writing this makes me sad 😭

One thing I was really thinking would happen. Is that Eggman would be one of Sonic's "friends" that he had to help. I wonder of that was planned at some point. A chance for Sonic and Eggman to talk besides banter

I actually wanna believe that Supreme is just a prototype of a Titan, maybe Giganto was the one that was the new one? And Supreme got attacked by The End, no wonder why he/she has lower health than the others.

I always thought to myself " How did Sonic get from Rhea Island to Ouranos Island?" Because Sonic made it from one island to another by turning into Super Sonic and flying to the next island. If Kronos, Rhea and Ouranos were connected, it would explain how he got to Ouranos from Rhea, but since they aren't connected in the final game, and Eggman and Sage already left before Sonic, how exactly did Sonic get from Rhea to Ouranos?

You know how the original ending with The End when it says that you'd use the Titans alongside Sage piloting Supreme? I wonder if instead of destroying the Titans: Giganto, Wyvern, and Knight, each of Sonic's friends might've had used their cyber forms and helped pilot the other Titans after releasing them from The End's influence and fighting against it?

it would have been really interesting to see a section of the game comprised of the ships the ancients rode to the planet in perhaps if they were activated to take flight and rise above the islands at some point in the story a few of them could've been buried across the islands and taken chunks of each island's terrain atop their roofs with them into the skies allowing for a mix of the previous islands alongside the interiors of the ships or whatever would've been in store for such a place

Oh yeah, someone actually leaked the script for the final update of frontiers. Also, the spin dash was found in update 1 and made into update 2, so there is a possibility that the unused things could come to update 3.

Thing about Chaos Chaos is a predominant Theme through mythologies and is usally depicted as the 'birth' place of the world Chaos Island is a Volcano, Skilling out Lava. Which makes more land and it has happed that a Volcano can erupt in the middle of the Ocean and just make a new Island

I wonder what the game would have been like if it released a year later.

One thing that’s bothered me with Ouranos Island is that despite The End being released and planning to attack the Earth, the atmosphere of the Island doesn’t really convey that. It still feels tranquil despite being essentially on borrowed time. While I don’t expect the final island to be completely replaced in the final update, I hope that the final part of the story will at least be more fleshed out with the other characters playing a bigger role in the final act. Only time will tell.

One thing is to make an image that presents an idea and the other is to implement it, the concept art in most games will always have a concept art superior to the final product, just look at the concept art of the birch forest that Mojang showed which deceived the whole community As for the ship's discarded mission it seems to be an early idea but it would have been interesting In my opinion it would have been a great idea that the mission of rhea was done in Ouranos with the open world for Sonic's friends with everyone looking for the emeralds to free Sonic with a cinematic of Sonic in his consciousness having visions and voices that warn him of the last Titan and so when he has been freed it is his turn to end this...

Oh that’s a spaceship in the thumbnail! I thought that was like a small part of a long winding path in a dark, glitchy cyber void. No floor, no plains, no top, no bottom, no bitches. Just endless, winding interconnected road for a supersonic hedgehog to run around.

It would’ve been neat if Ouranos would’ve been the world ship AND the end, as in the end was inside the world ship and you release it by bypassing chaos emerald aided security systems, the entire time the end speaks to you, but also challenges you, it WOULD explain anything like enemies, structures, map challenges, and I can support that more, I’ve noticed after update 2, while playing around I would get random voice lines, the end telling me to use the island and everything on it despite the fact I beat the game several times, sonic strangely mourning Tails on Chaos, saying something along the lines of, “[deep sigh] I wish Tails were here to see this.” and other things along those lines

5:30 Yeah, part of me thinks Sonic Team wanted to add more but they couldn’t due to SEGA putting a tighter budget and/or deadlines to the point that they realised they couldn’t get to where they wanted it. I digress, though.

Chaos is the primordial form that the universe was in before the rise of the Titans & the Gods in mythology.

Honestly, i don't think that Sonic Team is going to fuse Kronos islan with Rhea and Ouranos island as how it was in the original iteration if the game, but i really think that the original fourth island (the ancients ship) is now going part of Ouraons. Still, there's no mention of the ancients ship in the leaked script, but we can always hope.

The development of this game sure was a lot of Chaos on deck, I can tell. Currently, the timeline we have is that there were originally going to be 3 big islands, then 5 smaller islands(Funny thing being, people noticed that they shrunk down Ares to create less negative space between everything. A good change if you ask me) and then going back down to 4 because they couldn't do this "origin"-segment in time, so they just yeeted their already finished plattforming challenges and cutscenes onto the empty portion they still had from the earlier draft.(Tbh, the backstory-dump makes a lot more sense since I learned that we were originally going to explore the mothership instead of whatever Rhea was.) I'd be completely down for theorycrafting over a potential do-over to have the game's vision realized according to my own grand imagining of how it could play out, but It's still very much too early to get into that since they haven't fully stopped working on it yet. 0:11 Oi! 😭LW was fun.

My best hope is that update 3 will be available this September.

When you get see the concept art book for sonic frontiers the third island. Chaos island was showed that that was the island that the Titans and the majority of the robots came from but in the game he can barely tell because most of the structures are not there, because chaos island well they have so many gaps and not too much land, and I thought this island will be bigger due to the lava and consistently pouring out, making the island much more bigger. I have a feeling it may have been bigger than the rest of the islands. I think I would’ve wanted for the fourth island with a glacier theme, because it could be a cool that this different islands have different biomes. For the fifth island, it’s a big grassland, but sonic arrives on the island. He triggers a mechanism the grass disappeared. The trees are gone. All of this island is a Mila Kruk is metal and cyber energy, and this is where the robots come from, and the titans are built also as the mechanism is triggered the island to expand bigger than all the islands, combined, giving players in a chance to explore more Lore to cover and newer mini buses, upgrade it, stronger, deadly enemies and the Bossfight. Well, that Bossfight, I did not like it the hacking segment of the game is basically a majority of the Bossfight was not enjoyable I felt like what would’ve been a better Bossfight is if all the broken robot parts the Titans and the fifth island digitized and all that digitized cyber energy manifest into a Titan bigger than all of the other Titans. Combine giving sonic a much bigger foe this titan is powered by all seven chaos emeralds, which will make the titan more challenging and also get in the chaos emeralds much more harder. Yeah that’s all I have to say for sonic frontiers well, until the release of update 3 . Im looking really forward to update tree beacose it looks like oranous is gonna have all of the bosses in the other island. and it's gonna have better and harder puzzle. And it's gonna have 4 rhea towers (that i think you fight all of the titans with the ancient in it) and i think were gonna have a better supreme figh and an actual end figh. I hope the dlc is good so it dosn't make us remember that they scrapped one island

I thought of something probably obvious but when they mentioned New Story I first assumed it what like post game or something. But the more I think about I think this is meant to replace the original, the director keep saying there going to change the ending and the snippets of the story in the files seem to take place at the same time as Sonic’s. So it could be another Story or a New Story that fixes the issues of the Original.

i think divide the progression of kronos island was great, when taking lot of stuff in consideration like, beta testers said the island was too big, and being just grass makes you to be tired of the scene so fast... but literally split the island was dumb... rhea and ouranos should be just the same island.. just with an unique "prologue" to give a conclusion of the cybercorruption before start the regular progression of the island... and then after that, yeah... the final island... although being the ancient ship? idk... i dont see that being enough for an open world, idk.. (could be intended more like a new side mission, or just a platform challenge (like the one in ares island for the yellow emerald, or the one for the white emerald in chaos island... still yeah a new island is needed.. i doubt the dlc would give us that... or at least for the end after ouranos... (i have enough hope to have like a cyberspace themed island for the playable characters to play there and have some kind of history like "we need to do this, to keep sonic corruption controlled.) and thats it. (this is my personal theory of Update 3) in any case idc about the ending being kronos 2... if at least for the update 3 they give us a proper the end boss fight, with some different phases, or completly change it to be a proper team up between Super Sonic and Supreme... (like gaia colossus in Sonic Unleashed bruh)

There’s also a bunch of unused random and idling voice lines of Sonic straining through the cyber corruption. They’re quite concerning, but they show that the game initially wanted to go way harder on how badly Sonic was deteriorating over the game.

I have 2 theory's about the unused 4th Island and Supreme. 1. I think Supreme is the first boss of a boss trial, the Titans are upgraded in the white bodys like the enemies in Oranous. 2. Maybe the unused Island is a much more hellish then Chaos.

i do kinda want to say this, everything in this is right, tho i recall from twitter and steam, that one of the main people to work on the game and the supreme boss had more in store for it, but sega did say that we will have 3 free dlcs extensions, whatever it is, we already got two and the last one is to be stories for tails knuckles and amy, and even a extra story with sage, so maybe the actually final island can still be used

1:13 I remember thinking of alternative ideas, like a visual/story rewrite. Kronos Island Revision: Fog should've been a prominent feature, showcasing how mysterious the Starfall Islands are. The Ancient structures used for platforming should also have moss growing. Ares Island Revision: I don't like how the higher areas are so difficult to even find ways to get up there. Not a fan of the blank, desert wasteland aesthetic either. In BotW, Gerudo Desert does the idea much better with the more considerate landscape instead of cliffsides and the more... technicolor look. Artificial structures should be sand blasted. At the very least I'd want something akin to that one beach photo with spirally sand structures. Chaos Island: The Chemical Ponds should've been more prominent, as should the whole Freeze Flame Galaxy thing it has with the volcano and ice. Rhea Island: Honestly? Just take all the leaves away. Portray a dead forest to fit the depressing tone. Ouranos Island: Maybe have some unconventional ancient structures, using the Earth's resources instead of what they brought with them. Also when the name leaked, part of me hoped Ouranos (which is sky related) was the Ancients' name for Angel Island.

They did more work separating ouranos from Kronos. They should’ve just changed the season colors and had rhea just be sonic returning to Kronos

I think the original idea of the 3 islands being one big island is in the files of the switch version? Saw a video of a while back of the whole island being explored and it looked very finished with lots of rails to move around.

Imo, if what it took to get the one ideas they had back in was via paid dlc. I’d pay for it assuming some of those ideas won’t be added back in with dlc3. Cause I wanna see what they had invisoned behind the scenes since it sounded like it would’ve been really fascinating.

Actually... If anybody has been keeping up with the Sonic frontiers before launch mod you actually get to see one of the ruins up in the sky and the amalgamation of the Kronos Islands together... Maybe that could have been the ship??

Stupid theory; Ouranos Island is connected to Angel Island. Why? With the name of the descriptions for both islands they have a sky theme. AND the fact that Knuckles found a portal there, it could have been an Island the echidna tribe took over/evolved there and claimed as their own. Hell, that could possibly explain the mural found in hidden palace. If the ancients made the mural, it would make sense too! They *are* relatives of chaos, and they brought the chaos emeralds with them. It would make sense that they use their technology on Angel Island, and thrive a bit off there. Perhaps the ones living there have mutated into chao and after what happened in sa1, chaos has mutated back into it's pure form and use the gems their relatives have brought with them as vengeance? It does seem to line up if you think about it.

Nah y’all are tripping about the end of the game. It was still great despite Supreme and The End, and Ouranos being grassy really isn’t that big of a deal. Yeah sure Supreme was a bit buggy but he was still a pretty good boss fight even if he was a reskinned Giganto. Also about The End, if you listen to what it says during its boss fight you get to know a lot more about its backstory and what happened to it. And anyway we already know quite a bit of its backstory with the Ancients through those cutscenes it showed us of them battling The End with the Titans. And yeah sure maybe it does seem pretty sudden at first but if you think about it it’s not really that sudden since that has been the voice that’s been talking to us since the beginning of the game. Also about the Ancients, if you listen to Eggman’s memos you get to know a lot more about them and their lore and backstory.

Who knows? Maybe we’ll get something about it the 3rd DLC wave. Or since we still have a few questions about the games story, they could do the fourth island in the next game and have an overarching plot like Kirby games do.

Ouranos wasn't gonna be the world ship, the ship was part of the Ouranous area in the old island
