I agree with OmegaChase. Sa1 was like Sonic's last "classic game" that just so happened to be 3d and contain a large adventure with the homing attack. The enemies and the locations feel somewhat cheesy and fit for a sonic classic game
@@Gamelover882 i'd say sa2 was the last "classic" game, not counting the advance titles, and heroes was the beginning of the slow shift from classic gameplay into the experimental bumpy ride sonic's been in since. (i still love heroes though)
Its because they follow an act structure [sonic adventure]. The "acts" change when the music changes. Lava mountian for exmple has the outside which would be act 1 and the inside which would be act 2. Same act sctrutre for emerald coast, windy valley, ice cap, twinkle park, speed highway, and lost world. Only levels which dont follow this are casinopolis, sky deck, and final egg.
Whether it's a good or bad thing that they rehashed the classic rage designs in the first era, I really like their more original designs in the later eras.

The level design it's a bit poor, but I still think it's good, especially the ones for Water Palace and Tropical Resort. The graphics are pretty cool IMO but the 3DS can do better than that. The controls are good, however the circle pad it's a bit wonky. The special stages are really cool, and the time eater it's way better than the HD version. The game it's not a killer app AT ALL, but it's still nice, and it's good to pass the time. However, if your opinion it's that it's bad, I respect it =).

When you think about it. It makes sense that classic sonic would get the homing attack here. since this was the adventure was the first game Sonic got the homing attack.
Probably for 2 reasons 1- Modern Sonic's booster game play with probably dropped in frames for the 3ds if it was fully 3D 2- They probably want to do the Rush style
Come on man, it's not that bad. The level design is OK but it's a bit automated, however I think the classic stages have better level design than the modern ones (plus better classic physics than the HD version). I'm not saying it's an amazing game, but it's good for a something made in 8 months.
First; I didn't actually "copied", I just pointed out some things of the top comment, and pointed out another ones that the top comment didn't, so it isn't actually a copy. Second; I don't know why do you even care about if I copy or not. You're pretty much the only person who has accused me about that. It's not like I would cause the apocalypse or stuff like that. Sonic 4 Episode 2 had a fantastic soundtrack, Castlevania Act 3, Sky Fortress Act 1 + 2, All of Oil Desert, Metal Sonic's theme, Death Egg Mk II all stand out, and the rest sound great as well. If any of them had been in Sonic 2 you'd be claiming them as masterpieces. It's simple because you didn't grow up with them that you're not holding them in the same light.
Nah, I'm an early 2000's kid and I prefer the original trilogy's soundtrack to Sonic 4. Not that Sonic 4 doesn't have good music, it's just that I like the originals better, no nostalgia at all.
Hmm, I'd agree on that point, the synth is what ruins it, but the compositions themselves are great imo. And Metal Sonic's theme and Sky Fortress act 2 are my personal favourites :)
One nice feature that I got used to on the pc version was hitting X to spindash like in Sonic Adventure. But in this you have to do it the classic way which is a little difficult with the crappy thumpad. I am upset at the fact that this game had two handheld levels. I would've loved Bridge Zone or Jungle Zone! Or even Secret Base!
True.. It's just Sonic lol, It has the potential to be better, I didn't like the fact that Dimps took the lazy way out, but then again this is one of the earliest 3DS games. Its just compared to many other 3DS games out there, this pales in comparison.. but thats a whole other different story. I just think it could have looked better visually, though its not bad anyways.
I just play this level today, and I was like "Oh, a level from Sonic Adventure, one of my favorite games of all time? Heck Yeah!" BUT.....then I played the levels and......oh god was it a pain in the ass, I got a game over on BOTH acts due to its poor level design and cheap, placements of bottomless pits. So yeah, Emerald Coast (as of now) is probable my least favorite level in the game, and that's sad really. Still enjoying Sonic Generations for the 3DS tho.
Ok liked the level fine but why did they need to pick another beach level like adventure 1 has some very good levels to pick (windy valley, twinkle park, red mountain) I understand skydeck and lost world wouldn't really work in a 2d environment and you didn't want to use speed highway since the console version used it but we don't need to play another beach level like this game has so much
i play xbox 360 versions of sonic generatios and not 3ds the reason is because 3ds version classic sonic can do homeing attack but in the original he cant
I have not played the game yet but I know for a fact that was Jun Senoue trying to create an original sound from the original Genesis console but failing massively. Seeing as he hasn't been known for greatness among that from some of the soundtrack in Sonic 4 episode 1 it's not like he has it perfected like he has with other music. Seeing as Chronicles was a regular spin off it shouldn't be hard to do a soundtrack like others. Sonic 4 was trying to be a throwback having more of an excuse.
This could of been so much better, Dimps made great games like Sonic Rush and the sequel. Ever since they've been in charge of creating handheld ports of the console game, their games have started to lack. Maybe they are being rushed, because i know they can do better than this.
@@p0p525 Oh I'm aware of this. LOL Wow what a blast from the past! So I think "Past Me" was saying the graphics could have looked a little better. I was probably referring to the fact that I thought it looked like it could pass for an original DS title rather than a 3DS title and this is largely due to the 3DS' low resolution screen.
Fractorification For your info, Sonic Generations on the consoles had years to develop while DIMPS was rushed by SEGA, given literally months, to literally develop this game asap to tie in with the Console release date I blame SEGA EDIT: I always thought this was a good 2D reimagined version of Emerald Coast from the Dreamcast version
Metal Sonic's theme sucked in my opinion. Sky Fortress act 2 was probably the best. I'm gonna have to agree that the Sound Font they used does not in fact emulate the actual genesis hardware and that some of their choices with synthesizers did suck. Overall you get songs that are pretty good, but could have been better. The fact that you brought up Sonic 2 means something, those tracks were memorable. Sonic 4 has that same potential, problem is the synth they used is garbage.
The console/PC version is pretty much unarguably better in every way that isn't the bosses. ...Where is the classic era boss, Melpronto? You just skipped the best music in both versions!
