I like the idea that this is the same Eggman from Heroes and he expects Sonic to be as strong as he was in Heroes, and then Sonic knocks his mech the fuck back and then he does the boost and Eggman is like "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!?"
I don't know what's more confusing, the fact that they used a dreamcast-era boss for the modern era, or that they used the boss from Sonic heroes but no actual level from the same game.
Ben IKR? They use SH menu music, the SH special stages, and of course, this boss, but not even a stage? It's baffling. And yeah, a dreamcast boss for modern era is kinda confusing.
Indeed it is. They should've used the Egg Wyvern from Sonic '06. Just because the battle and setting looked pretty cool.Unless you think the Egg Nega Wisp from Sonic Colors would work better.

Or the Egg Wyvern, to keep with the theme. Classic - Both final bosses piloted by Eggman. Dreamcast - Both final boss Lizard creatures with Godzilla like roars. Modern - Console has Egg Dragoon, Egg Wyvern would make sense because a wyvern is a kind of dragon, and they're both final(ish) bosses of their games. The Egg Emperor is just in the COMPLETELY WRONG ERA.
If they were gonna bring back an Eggman boss fight that shot lasers, destroyed the platforms, and flew around the arena, they would bring back the Egg Viper You know, a boss from a game that actually did well? Also the Egg Emperor is far cooler than the Egg Wyvern, and both the Egg Emperor and the Egg Dragoon are body-shaped designs with Eggman piloting from the top/middle with with long spear-like weapons. Also, not only is the Egg Dragoon not a final boss at all, but the Egg Emperor is the final boss for ALL stories except for the final one
Yeah, but I’m glad they brought back Egg Emperor. As buggy and easy as the Hero’s boss fight was, I enjoyed it. (Then again, every other boss from that game except for Metal Madness/Metal Overlord was pretty trash)
Samson B Since Sonic Rush Adventure didn't sell as well as expected, Dimps now makes games using a shit budget. That said, they still haven't lost their touch regarding boss battles.
I thought this boss was hard at first But when I found out I had to boost into him and look at his attack with the sword on the running part it became a piece of cake My time trials was a time of 1:24:13
Even so, you can actually finish him by using one character (like Sonic, for example). As for the Bosses in this game, they were made easier than their original counterparts. Egg Emperor, for example, doesn't using his homing missiles in this fight.
Something looks different about the Egg Emperor. Oh yes (other than this being a very recently-made model of it), its flames are blue, whereas the old one had yellow flames & no missiles coming outta the wings! Could it be a Dark Gaia energy or DGE-powered Egg Emperor we see this time in Generations?
when you think about it this is the third metal sonic boss in generations in the console version you have classic metal in stardust speedway in the 3DS version you have classic metal in casino night and in sonic heroes eggman is only present in the finale as the eggman in the bosses are just neo metal sonic in disguise
It's a pretty good game. If you pass on it, then you may not miss much. But if you get a hold of it, you may have a good time with it anyway. Plus, it has VS online play :P
Kids these days have it lucky, my first fighting this boss on the original GameCube took me two hours of rage and crying non-stop until I finally defeated it
I replayed this game recently to prepare for Sonic X Shadow Generations (I never owned HD Gens). This fight is such a MASSIVE step back in complexity and difficulty from the Biolizard it's insane. It's especially jarring because in HD Gens, heroes is considered adventure era. I'm surprised they didn't bring back one of the bosses from Rush or Rush Adventure considering both were made by Dimps. Now, if this were 10 years ago, I would have said that they should have brought back the Egg Nega Wisp from Sonic Colours. However, they did that in Lost World. Then again in Forces. Therefore, they should have brought back the Egg Wyvern from Sonic 06.
The funny thing is the Egg Emperor isn't even Eggman's robot Metal Sonic made it. Eggman at this point in time was locked up by Meta Sonic and was impersonating Eggman.
Did Eggman make it but Metal Sonic piloted it? Plus, I'm pretty sure MS never would have called his robots "Egg - insert name here -". Not even Eggman does it all the time.
Sans The Skeleton * one google search later * Okay, not all of his mechs have the "Egg" title but and majority of them do. Also you can't tell me Eggman isn't a narcissist, and that Metal wanted to keep his charade going so as to not throw suspicion on him before gathering the data he needs. So if he did create the Egg Emperor I could see him naming it that to keep Sonic and everyone thinking he's the real Eggman.
Eh, the only real reason why I say it could be his is because I doubt there were any remants of the original mech unless Eggman had blueprints or something, so in Generations he probably just recreated it.
It is a good fight, but it should definitely be the dreamcast era boss. This would also be metal sonic if we are to belive that these bosses take place in some sort of pocket of space time. Sonic never even fought the biolizard himself, maybe add DS colors' nega wisp armor? Just anything 06 onward is considered modern by console generations.
I didn't get it because I dont have a 3ds, but the first version was good. And apart from controls and levels this doesnt look bad. so Id say try it out.
And attract the missles to the launchers without Knuckles. This boss was a real nightmare for me at heroes,and i stupidly tried to attack him with homing attacks which sucks a lot at that game.

This boss always ticked me off in this game. This boss should have replaced the Biolizard and they should have given us something from the DS Sonic games for a DS-Era boss, not something that could have easily fitted in the Adventure-Era. I may be nitpicking, but I still think they could have done better.
I think all 3 major bosses do represent a boss type that we seen in the series, Big arms represents the classic games/colors ds. Biolizard represents the rush style with the many attacks you see in the bosses for both the biolizard and the bosses in rush. Egg emperor does represent the sonic advanced formula for bosses where one phase goes for a sonic advance 2 styled section while the second part is inspired by sonic advanced 3’s bosses.
There aren't that many flaws with gameplay, this game is actually pretty okay. But I mean, they did Sonic Lost World as a full 3d platformer almost faithful to the Wii U version and the special stages in here were in 3d, despite only having to boost to the finish (seriously I once beat the levels by just boosting). What was so hard about making a game similar to that? I know people complain a lot about that game, but given some tweaks here and there, making this version of Sonic Generations close to that would make it less watered down from the PS3 and Xbox versions. Don't get me wrong, I love this boss, but damn, it felt as if I'm playing with paper dolls and stickers instead of a toy.
