I think they were trying to make it sound like how you would expect it to sound if it was coming out of the game gears speakers instead of wearing headphones

They were technically designed with Game Gear specs in mind. The Master System ports were just byproducts released only in PAL regions where the Master System was still popular (even Sonic 1 which came out in America is technically just the European release with a new UPC sticker).

the game gear versions are in fact better, but what sucks is that the screen is tiny, not even they tried to enlarge the screen (which is possible, Sonic Blast for Master System is an example partial that can be done)

@@karrin27 works about as well as a widescreen HD remaster of a 4:3 aspect ratio game, including showing what was originally hidden off-screen and not meant to be seen

Btw, Sonic Spinball and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine not only have a Master System port, but ALSO a FAR SUPERIOR 16-bit version!!! :/

Simply a guess, but Mean Bean Machine is probably at the bottom out-of-sight, because it's just a reskin of Puyo Puyo. A reskin which uses non-canon character designs from a certain old cartoon adaptation that isn't all that relevant to the series' overall branding nowadays. Like, just being real, I'm pretty sure Mean Bean Machine was only included to make it an even 12 Game Gear titles instead of only 11 of the 12 that exist. Not to mention it was in previous collections, so its absence would be more noticeable. But I don't think they (SEGA or, more likely, Sonic Team) want so much attention on it either, if you catch my drift. Again though, this is all simply speculation on my end.

the master system versions aren’t official. unless if you’re talking about 1 2 3&k in which those are already in the original origins. still though, your point is valid. i have the original origins but still don’t know if i’ll bother paying for plus

@@wasquash How aren't they official? I was talking about the 8-Bit Game Gear Sonic Games not the 16-Bit ones. Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic Chaos, Mean Bean, Sonic Spinball, and Sonic Blast were on the Master System so they could have easily added an option for the Master Systems wide screen and the Game Gears crunched down screen for those games and have tried to make the others that weren't on the Master System to have wide screen like how they did with S3&K. (Pretty much like the Anniversary mode and Classic mode for the base origins games)

I know as Amy in Sonic CD Metallic Madness you can EASILY get stuck in the wall / ceiling above you when you get zapped from your miniature form back to normal - you have to go very slow there I found. I didn't notice the falling rocks problem in S3&K Marble Garden Zone though so think that's fixed.

Unless you play them on the go with headphones.

Alright well, just look up “carnival night act 1 origins” and see if it sounds the same or different in origins plus (carnival night is the 4th zone of sonic 3)

I mean, kinda? It shouldn't be on the user to set their audio to mono. But it's not an emulation error, it's a (bad) choice. And in most setups there's a way around it.

Aren't the original Game Gear games in Stereo if you used headphones or external speakers though?

I think it depends on the game. Either way, it didn't oscillate like this. And when listing in mono this sounds fairly close to other emulators.

You have to buy the DLC pack for 10€ if you have the digital version. It is not available in all regions yet. If you have the physical version you have to redeem the code in the box and let the game update

Hey for the first question no, the music is not added. There some covers and illustrations from the Game Gear versions but I think they were there from the base game. It is normal to get games early. I know people that got the new Zelda one week earlier.

That would require actual rom hacking from Sega, which they don’t seem to be capable of doing. Unless they tried of course, but they won’t.

you should 100% go with mania plus. two extra characters with unique abilities and different level designs and layouts in encore mode is way more enjoyable than what’s essentially just an amy mod with ROMs

@@abrown7189 I owned a Game Gear as a child myself, and it never sounded like this. There was always stereo output (via headphones), for games that incorporated it, but never an extra layer of echoiness, and poor, crunchy sound quality, which Sega seems to have added here. Even M2 got it right with the 3DS VC releases in the 2010’s. It’s just more poor emulation on Sega’s part. They should have just handed the emulation responsibilities over to M2 again, or Headcannon, who for sure would have nailed it.

Obviously pre patch the game isn’t even meant to be out yet

Capcom isn't perfect either. They used NES version of Mega Man 1 - 6 instead of the superior Rockman Complete Works PS1 versions for Legacy Collection 1, using PS1 version instead of Sega Saturn versions for 8 in Legacy Collection 2 and X4 in X Legacy Collection, using SNES version of X3 instead of the PS1 version in X Legacy Collection unlike the 2006 PS2 and GameCube collection, input lag, integer scaling issues, slowdown return in the X Legacy Collections while they are gone in the PS2 and GameCube collection, Japanese music not in the Western version of the collections and censorship in X4 removing the salute, no Game Boy games, no Command Mission, no Powered-Up, no Super Adventure Rockman, no Power Battles and Fighters, no Maverick Hunter X, no Xtreme 1 and 2, no Mega Man Soccer, Battle Chip Challenge, Mega Man Battle Network 5 DS, Mega Man and Bass or any spin-off or superior port. If we live in a perfect world Mega Man Legacy Collections would've have all that, Nintendo actually puts effort into 3D All-Stars, Sonic Origins would have all of this, Pac-Mom wouldn't exist in Pac-Man Museum + or Pac-Man World Re-Pac, Bamco puts effort into Tales of Symphonia Remastered and GTA Trilogy would've look better than it did, no censorship and had all the music tracks.

OK I unlocked same more parts. It is a wallpaper that has 10 puzzle pieces that unlock as you play the plus content. From what I can tell it is the Sonic team having a party while Robotnik and Metal Sonic spy from the back. I will post a video if I unlock all pieces.

Edits: These games were already in other Sonic collections so they probably used the SADX, Gems, Mega collections and many more I'm missing. We could've seen more obscure titles in the bad collection to begin with; Sonic EduSoft, SegaSonic Bros, SegaSonic the hedgehog(it would benefit with the Ps4 and 5's sensor bar in the middle of the controller), Knuckles' Chaotix, Sonic eraser, Pocket Adventure, The Sega Pico Games and plenty more. Why not through some other SEGA games like the Streets of rage trilogy, the Crazy Taxi series, JSR and JSRF, Space harrier, Altered beast, Vectorman 1 and 2, and many more I'm missing. This isn't a hate to SEGA but these are just simple suggestions that a nodded can do.

If you chose the 2P option it asks for a second controller which I definitely don't have. I guess they think Game Gear worldwide was more popular than the Master System which may be true. I would love if they included both GG and SMS while also adding the 16bit versions of Spinball and 3D

But I guess you can try to throw in Triple Trouble 16 bit and Sonic Chaos 16 bit demo as a secret.

Wish they also included Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters as additional bonus, but I think the Sonic the Fighters game went straight to the recent Yakuza game after they delisted it on the PSN and Steam stores.

Apparently, they added a 'sound filter' or something, so it sounds more 'authentic' to the original Game Gear music and sounds...
