This is just what the game should've been at launch, and now they're charging extra for it. £8.99 which is insane. I always thought it was weird that Sonic Mega Collection 20 years ago had more content than this.

Sonic 3 was my favorite game, I played it every day. When ps2 came out, I got a used Genesis. For years, I've been hoping to own 3 again. This does satisfy, although it is unfortunate the music isn't the same entirely. The OG Sonic 3 soundtrack plays on loop in my head for life.

Yeah, it kinda is disappointing that the Michael Jackson music was copyrighted and Sega had to replace them with the songs on the PC version of Sonic 3 (Sonic and Knuckles Collection). But, hey! I like Carnival Night Act 2! Other than that, it’s very satisfying to finally get an official re-release of Sonic 3!

All the Master System titles are locked to a download cart, only the Megadrive games are on the cart. Such a wasted opportunity, and absolutely no need to lock any content to a download given the size of the games.

They aren't going to add them back in. They are what kept Sonic 3 from being rereleased for over a decade. They replaced them with the prototypes and will be moving forward with those tracks for the foreseeable future.

It’s so frustrating that sega keeps missing the mark by so close. The Sonic 3 Complete curse is, if you hadn’t been already aware, any new ports and remakes of S3&K revert back to the original Genesis/MegaDrive iteration of the S3&K with the bad sequencing and missing contents despite it’s been fixed for decades by the fans.

*Warning,* what this trailer doesn't tell you is that even though the game card literally says 'Sonic Origins Plus' on it, the physical cartridge only contains Sonic Origins 1.5 and it expects you to download the 2.0 patch. "Well, that's not so bad?" And then redeem your code for one person only to receive all the extra content they promised you. "But it said 'Plus Expansion Pack Upgrade Available' you must have just missed it!" No, it specified that was for current owners of Sonic Origins, i.e. *_not_* people going out to buy everything on a physical cart so they can play on multiple systems without a hassle... oops! Sega lied! I guess you can't?

It’s not complete though. The Master System games are locked behind a download, which is absolutely unnecessary. All games should be on the cart, scandalous that they couldn’t be bothered fitting the 8 bit games on there considering the size of those games.

I may get this, I may not. My overall impression of it is that Sonic fans have held on with prayer for so long that at some point, they got old enough to just do it themselves and exceeded the original developers in a lot of ways. That is how the torch gets passed on, and the characters grow with their fanbase. Steady on, Sonic Fans.

So Amy doesn't have her moves from Advance, huh? That's rather disappointing. What makes Tails, Knuckles, Mighty, and Ray cool is that their abilities give them movement options that allow you to approach the levels in unique ways. This version of Amy on the other hand seems to play just the same as Sonic, but with an inferior instashield and drop dash. It's also disappointing that Tails, Knuckles, and Amy don't have their own super form designs and animations like Sonic does, and instead still just flash white. Hopefully Sonic Superstars puts in the effort.

Feels like this is a good year to be someone who grew up in the 16-bit era of gaming. On the Switch you've got access to every 90s Mario and Sonic platformer (and 80s in Mario's case) in some fashion, and by the end of the year there will be new side scrollers for each that harken back to their 2D golden years (with Sonic Superstars even having his original character designer, Naoto Ohshima, working on the game, and SMB Wonder looks much more like a call-back to World with a dash of Yoshi's Island thanks to the more stylized look rather than the "plain" look of New Super Mario Bros.).

Sonic CD still lacks an easy way to unlock Level Select on the title screen, unlock Visual Mode, and all 7 Chaos Emeralds in Sound Test. Please Sega, add these features to the game, I only want to use the codes for to have fun with them. I don't want to beat the game I'm not good at, and beat Time Attack, just to unlock them. I mean come on Sega and Sonic Team!

Imagine if the switch utilized the docking station a little more. Adding a graphics card so when docked the switch sends data the the docking station for rendering instead of the switches onboard graphics.
