Starship troopers comes to mind as an older film that still holds up well today. The director was very smart in his use of lighting and the effects used to animate the "bugs" looks amazing even by todays films. Better CGI then some modern day films AND that film had a ton of daylight shots with 90's CGI

The fundamental problem with Sonic is... It's good and fun when you 'go fast', but the whole fucking game series is built to stop you with obstacles and walls, turning it into a slow, tedious mess with terrible controls.

Go watch dunkey's review of it. He really does a good job of summing up the history of sonic up until now and building up to a positive place. The levels are MASSIVE so there's serious replay value.

If Mania wasn't a Sonic game, was made by some indie studio and called something else, critics would be absolutely *raving* (because we know how much 'journalists' love platformers). But it is what it looks like, A Good Platformer. If you don't like platformers don't bother. Whether or not it's a Sonic game is irrelevant here.

The conversation about perception versus giving the movie a chance is a great point by Lawrence. I felt for the longest time (yest it was stupid, I know) that I understand pulp fiction simply by memes and references, but giving the movie a chance opened my eyes to the reason the movie deserved to be referenced to recollect the full glory of the movie.

Adam getting angrier with Omar's gameplay is pure gold. I almost feel like Adam played this game so much as a kid because that's the only game he could find in the dumbster or wherever he found it, and played it so much he could speedrun it in 4 minutes. It's understandable to get frustrated by such rookie skills :P

Another fun quote people get wrong is "no, I am your father" from star wars. My little sister just had her first birthday last week and there was more beers than children. All of us drunks just focused on the beers and music.
