These movies are objectively great. They have just the right balance of cartoonish humor, slapstick, and actual story. I wasn't even a Sonic fan growing up and I still love them.
I mean isn’t that why fans were saying Keanu Reeves should be Shadow for the last 2-3 Years? They planted that seen in our heads. They even stated 2 years ago they wanted a famous actor to voice him and were already contacting him.
I'm sure this has been said but Tails is voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey who also voices him in the games. Her notable games include, Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Boom, Sonic Forces, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Team Sonic Racing, and Sonic Dream Team. The fan response of her inclusion was massively overwhelming. From IMDb; "All the excitement and love I've received from the fans has been so gratifying, with all these tweets telling me they were hoping that I would get to play Tails in this film. They've had my back and have been so supportive since the beginning."
Jim Carrey's inclusion in these films is truly the crown jewel! Everyone was good, but who else could possibly keep up with Sonic aside from the living toon that is Jim Carrey
There are a lot of things people criticize about this movie. "It's not like the games, it's goofy, it's childish" etc. And yeah, I guess all those things are true, but it didn't stop me from enjoying it. It's not super deep, but it doesn't have to be. It's a fun adventure, and I had a good time with it.
@@Jason-..- lol just because most people like the movie doesn't mean it doesn't get these criticisms. You're not on the online sonic community enough if you haven't seen them
Best chili dog was at a fair in upstate New York. It literally caused my brain to melt because it had Fritos and bacon bits on top of the chili and it was life changing
At my favorite little restaurant in my hometown, if you order a chili dog, you get a hot dog bun with only chili in it lol so you specifically have to order a hot dog with chili. It’s the best.
Not a huge Sonic fan but gosh Iove this film it shows that the people who made this most definitely grew up playing the games or in the director's case apparently worked on one in the past and if they didn't grow up playing Sonic Games then wow they must get an award for best actor considering if the films are any indication then they grew up on the games and other Sonic related stuff. Carrey as Eggman is one of those castings where when I heard it I went" Wait what? Huh?" Yet in execution it's pure gold especially the evil grows scene. When I first watched it not too long before the 2nd one came out I basically laughed at any funny Jim Carry says. Gosh I love that man
Its great to see the 90s version of jim carrey aka the old school jim carrey that always brings laughter plus he was so great as the grinch in the live action movie
I love Tara coming in with the blue eye shadow. And I love that you guys loved this movie. But also, how could you not? it's so fun! And I already want to see your reaction to the second one, I won't spoil it but Tails is not the only new character in that.
i was a sega kid i didnt have a nintendo console until the gamecube i never got the snes or n64 so i played a lot of sonic 2 and sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles street fighter 2 vectorman just to name a few i was a big sega kid
I'm really glad the producers took the time to redesign Sonic from the monstrosity they had before. I also really love the casting of Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik.
Loved this reaction. Great team ups as always reject nation. BTW that horrible sonic look is still "around" they show up in chip and dale rescue rangers movie from disney lol. You gotta see that cameo.
loved seeing this one, you two were as hilarious as the movie itself.. heheheh So glad to see and hear Andrew's comments about suspending his belief and just to go with it.. so many times i keep seeing everyone trying to place reality into these animated and fictional stories it drives me up the wall.. they have already broken reality from the start, quit tying to make it come back, and just enjoy the ride.. ;) hehehehehe You HAVE to do the second one as well, it just continues this fun ride, and you'll have another ball with it.. :)
Tara, Jury Duty was FANTASTIC. It is so damn funny. Marsdan was so so good in it. He really displayed his improv chops and his acting skills. The whole thing was so damn funny.
Convertible trucks kind of already exist, or did. The Chevy Avalanche could be converted from a pick up to an SUV, so it's technically a convertible(in a way).
One of the generals sitting at the table actually voiced Eggman in Sonic Underground And in the behind the scenes they showed Concept art that shows Chris Evans when he was one of the options to play as Tom
Loving the review 🥰❤️🔥🥰. Sonic 3D was my favorite game. The fact you could go back in time was awesome. The detail on the fire tracks on the ground when you ran fast enough was the “Back to The Future” cherry on top.
I had no expectations for this movie and it totally blew me away, and 2 is even better! Who'da thunkit? I also love that Tara is on two horror trains and is throwing in these other watches too, she is the channel at this point.
I'd just like to say the turtle Sonic saved should have been a frog trying to cross the road. Don't forget: Frogger is an original SEGA property. It would have been such a perfect reference since there's no way Frogger can be made into a full movie without being a Frogger documentary.
I just noticed during this watch that when sonic is running down the building and San Francisco and catches the ring with a straw, it makes "ding" collection noise from the games
If you like James Marsden, you have catch his shot at being a Disney Prince Charming, in "Enchanted" (with Amy Adams as Princess Giselle). The premise is simple: what if the wicked stepmother exiled the beautiful princess into the real world?
When she mentioned how she liked how Sonic looked like he did in the game, I wonder if she knew what they were going to have him look like at first. I went to see this movie just out of respect for the film crew going back and changing it. Made all the difference. I don't know why anyone would try and do what they were going to in the first place, but respect for them listening to the fans.
This is truly one of the best, if not the best, movies based on a video game, ever. It honors the game, with lots of easter eggs, and it is just a great movie!
If it makes you guys feel better, in the second movie (NO SPOILERS) they hint that Sonic's Adoptive mom DID kill them and maybe ALL them for reasons knuckles explains, but my guess is either she killed all those guys or she last second got back up from other owls and fought them back eliminating both Echidna and Owls in the process
I don’t know if you’ll read this, but I’m gonna give some brief info. Ifif you do read this, please give me a shout out next Sonic reaction not for clout but just confirmation. LOL -1st Cartoon you described was “SatAM”, with Jim Cummings as Robotnik. This was a more dramatic show. -“Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog” is another cartoon by the same studio airing at the same time. Similar art style, same voice of Sonic for both. Robotnik has a taller head and goofier design with a tall chicken robot and drill nose robot henchmen named Scratch and Grounder. This was a more comedic show. -“badniks” are Robotnik’s robots. Specifically ones based on animals. -Eggman is Robotnik’s name in Japan. In 1998-onward, they made both names official by saying Robotnik is his real name and Eggman is his alias that Sonic gave time while mocking his egg-shaped body. (His head is a normal bald head in the games with a big mustache.) -There are a lot of Easter eggs, too many to point out and some you’d have to see the comparison to understand. -Fun fact: Sonic’s world at the beginning of the movie is based on the first stage of the first game, called Green Hill Zone. But they gave the name to Tom’s town. -Sonic loses his ring when taking damage in the games and has to collect them quickly before they disappear. They visually reference this when Sonic lands on the sidewalk after falling from the skyscraper. I think that’s good enough based on my evaluation of you 2. If you read it, hope it wasn’t too long and it helps.
Seriously appreciate all the feedback! Very kind of you! I would shout you out on Sonic 2 but we filmed it weeks ago. If we do Knuckles I will be sure to shout you out though :) thanks again for the info!
@@andrewgordon7662 weeee!! Or the Sonic Movie 3 someday. But heads up: it’s primarily going to be inspired by a certain Sonic game known to have a darker backstory. In case the movie gets heavier than expected but who knows. :)
The language Jim used was Japanese The other minion of Eggman in the original cartoon was a robot with drills and treadmills called Grounder (also an enemy in the 2nd game). His voice actor also happenes to be one of the government men in this movie
It will always amaze me that this movie was so nearly *absolutely* terrible, but they listened to, of all things, the internet, went back and tweaked a bunch of stuff, and the end result is not only fantastic (especially considering the source material being 'video game'), but the sequel also hit the nail perfectly. I think they missed (at least in the edited version), that in the movie when Sonic is falling and grabs the ring with a quill, it makes the 'pick up a ring' sound from the game.
I’m so stoked for this. I effing love Sonic, hence my RU-vid handle. Been a massive fan since 92. That being said, I can’t wait to see what you two think! Also, Sega does what Nintendon’t 😏
❤😊 well thanks to you too. I’m gonna have to go back and watch the originals sonics after I’m done watching your reaction. Good job guys. This is what I love about your channel. It makes you want to go back and watch the movies after watching the reactions.
❤😊 hey Andrew, hey Tara, so glad you’re doing sonic didn’t realize they they haven’t done a reaction for this one before. So at this point, I’m not sure if it is still true, but I have heard mention that Jim Carrey had decided to retire from acting since sonic two came out, but I guess they were able to work something out for him to come back and sonic three that’s coming out soon so if it is his last piece of acting work for now, I guess he was willing to go out on top with a with a roll that I guess he had fun with. He is fantastic and these movies and it’s such a callback to the old Jim Carrey from the good old days.
When this movie came out my friend and I really didn't like it. Then the second one came out and it addressed and fixed the problems we had with the first one so it changed our opinion of the first one.
Hey! For RomCom saturdays, I would like to suggest one of my favs, He’s Just Not That Into You. it has an all-star cast: Ginnifer Goodwin, Justin Long, Bradley Cooper, Scarlet Johansson, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Anniston, Drew Barrymore, and the list goes on!
Cow-skee not chow-skee. Everyone gets it wrong. Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc.; Zow-skee. Lana and Lilly Wachowski directors of The Matrix; Chow-skee. Here's a curve ball. Tom Wachowski from Sonic the Hedgehog; Cow-skee. Annunciate and respect the names! My last name is Swarthout. I can't count on my hands the number of times people have pronounced it "Swite Hart", especially people in charge of legal documents. For the record, it's S-War-Th-out all in one go. There's literally two English words there; War and Out. You'd think people could figure it out from there.
Robotnik had many sidekicks, the two robot characters you’re thinking of are Scratch and Grounder. There’s another cartoon that’s more series where robotnik had a human sidekick known as Snivley. In other Sonic shows, he had robot sidekicks that to me are far more forgettable. Agent Stone is perhaps my favorite robotnik sidekick thus far.
So, calling Robotnik Eggman is a bit more complicated. Dr. Eggman was the villain's name in the original Jaanese version. Sega of America descided to rename him into the more hardcore sounding Dr. Ivo Robotnik. In 1998, the American continuities were ditched in favor of keeping consistency with Japan's canon. However, there were debates on which name to use. In the end, the retconned backstory for the games is Dr. Robotnik is his real name, but Sonic always called him Dr. Eggman as an insult that he eventually accepted to steal Sonic's thunder. To this day, there's still a divide in the western Sonic fanbase on which name to use (comapred to the Mario fanbase where everyone migrated from Princess Toadstool to Peach). I massively prefer Eggman. I will respect anyone that insists on Dr. Robotnik or isnt aware of the two names history, but I hold far less for people who say Robotnik is better because its the original...because its not.
Love Sonic and love this movie. Cant wait for reaction to the sequel and im really excited to watch the 3rd in thr cinema this December. Can we get a reaction to Ron's Gone Wrong. Its such a cute movie. Im certain Tara will adore . Tara and Greg ❤
There was a self un aliving of the producer or writer of this movie due to bad ratings/box office success so that is why a sequel to masters of the universe was not made.
❤😊 hi Greg, hey I know that you and John did the reaction to sonic the hedgehog two but is it possible that you could have Tara and Andrew do a rewatch and have them react to it because I do enjoy their reaction to it now saying yours was bad, but it’s just itit kind of makes sense to have them continue the saga and if they have not seen it, it would be it would be just fun to watch since you guys did not do an original reaction to the first sonic just asking
This primarily takes inspiration from the first two Sonic the Hedgehog games. Besides the next film and live action series, I recommend watching the various animated shows. The animated show in question is referred to as Sonic SatAM
Oh you thought Jim Carrey was crazy in this movie just you two wait till the second movie where he becomes a bit more video game accurate and then he moves up to the second level……
I was Team Nintendo growing up. Didn't really have much choice, given that I was...y'know...a kid and my parents were the ones buying the gaming systems. XD
