To be honest, I see your point. however I have to say that Amy Rose hasn't done that whole crazy LOVE thing since the dreamcast era. yes that's a real era in Sonic. She was a child when she first met Sonic and she was excited to meet him. yes you can say it was a crazy thing. but I don't think it was. I think she was just happy to find someone that cared. she was an orphan after all. she probably didn't get any love back then. Amy didn't even think about marriage to Sonic until she got older in SA2, she and even then it was clearly a joke. she was going to let him out of the cell anyway, she just wanted to see what he would say to her. heck even in Sonic Heroes she actually fought Sonic over Cream and Big losing their pets while talking about marriage. if anything she did that to distract him. in the later games she doesn't even bring up marriage now. I love Amy Rose as a character and a person. she's just misunderstood because people are seeing only the front she put up years ago and not what she's doing passed Sonic.

Personally, i think, at this point Amy is at her "Trying to impress Sonic" phase.... due to her being able to take care of herself. Sonic though, from previously being annoyed with her, is actually friendzoning her. And is all "Yeah, cool hammer... lets go save the day."

Not to say you're wrong, but I don't think Amy has any issues in the way you explained. A love addict, possibly. But that's not necessarily the case in my eyes. I feel she has genuine love for Sonic. Going back to Sonic CD, Amy had immediate infatuation for Sonic. Amy was on orphan, and very young. The thought of having someone to love probably excited her solely because it's not something she gets in return on a regular comfortable basis. As time goes by, she did depend on Sonic on numerous occasions. She's no damsel in distress, but she's still one of the many that rely on Sonic to save the world if things go bad. When she proposed during the prison break, she wasn't serious. Not even a little. She'd never take away Sonics freedom for her own desires. She asked that so she could see the reaction. She most likely still wanted to marry him, but considering the situation, she didn't mean it the way you explained. Lastly, by Sonic 06, she says she would pick Sonic over the world. I don't think that's obsession. That's true love that she has for Sonic at this point, and that's thanks to the multiple times they've spent together to that point. What started as a crush, grew into true love and affection. Amy is not crazy, she is not a dependent, she's not helpless, she doesn't have any mental issues. She's just one hell of a misunderstood character, because nobody wants to acknowledge the way she is without mentioning Sonic. Look at Sonic Lost World for example. She didn't remotely go off on a love panic. And look at Sonic Generations, she didn't obsessively rush at Sonic in the end, and her quote "I was afraid I would never get to flirt with you again", clearly shows she's even having fun with their non existent relationship. Long comment, I know. But that's just the way I see it.

Ironically the reboot kept Amy's good points while ridding her of her bad points. Too bad the game that came with the reboot series sucked.

Idk, I never looked at Amy this way haha, cause I was younger, and never really paid close attention, I thought the idea of them being together was cute and just left it at that. And now, in Sonic Boom, I feel like it's just a silly crush on both sides, and that she knows how to hide her feelings better, and not let it take over. idk I just want to defend Amy somehow, she has changed a bit, and in my opinion, she isn't an awful character. I actually like her a lot, for many reasons.

She is 12 and Sonic is 3 years older either this is the first time she fell in love with a person and thinks she needs Sonic. But maybe she is representing fangirls at a young age...Maybe?

It's funny because the last time Amy showed any affection for Sonic was 6 years ago, in Sonic Generations. Look at her in Lost World, and in the Forces trailer, she has grown up and gotten over Sonic.

I don't ship Sonic and Amy. I would like to point out that Amy is 12, and Sonic is 15, meaning they are on a very different maturity level from each other. The two have also never been confirmed in being in a relationship, with Sonic actually stating that Amy isn't his girlfriend. Her age would explain her obsession. It's still not healthy though, and if they ever decided to age the Sonic characters, I hope they show her moving on, realizing what she feels isn't love, but obsession. Not necessarily dating someone else, but simply having a healthier relationship with Sonic and the people around her. (or maybe the writers for the games should treat her better. Say what you want about the comics and sonic boom but at least Amy is written with respect.)

I'm a fan of Amy, not a huge one though. Her Adventure design is the best. They should focus on her more. Making her more of a independent and likable character who isn't being a annoying, obsessive fangirl in the main series. The comics can do it and she was independent in SA1 by, having her own objective in the game. Not a big fan on Sonic X and Sonic 06 but Amy try to talk some sense into him on episode Cruise Blues. lol Along with defending Sonic from Silver. Which was good moments for her. She needs to be kinda similar to Boom Amy, when it comes to having better character traits. Amy is a freedom fighter, she should be capable of handling some things on her own and not constantly harassing Sonic. Btw, i'm not a fan of the Sonic Boom franchise. Just saying.

Even as a kid I never really liked Amy, and with becoming an adult, I still don't like her. Hell, I prefer her Boom counterpart over her normal self. While I have analyzed her character myself, I do fully agree that she is obsessive with her attraction towards Sonic. It's extremely unhealthy, there's even parts where she threatens to harm him or others if things don't go her way/if Sonic won't go on a date with her. Sonic verbally and visibly stated that he isn't interested in a romantic relationship with Amy and I never understood why she hasn't decided 'oh he isn't interested in me. maybe we should stay friends for now and wait until we're older and see if his opinion changed.' (also i personally feel that sonamy and sonally aren't canon, mainly because i feel that the games are canon and the comics/shows are non-canon. while i do enjoy the shows and comics, i don't regard them as canon.)

It's actually even MORE of a disturbing and unhealthy "relationship" in the comics. See, Amy's actually 13. She wasted a wish granting relic Sonic and co were going to use to stop Eggman once nad for all to wish herself into an adult body so Sonic would find her attractive. Adult. Body. Not mind. She still ACTS 13. Because she is. (Also Sonic in the comics wasn't absolutely nothing to do with her, and so we have Amy come across as a reverse pedophile and a rapist...)

The bottom line is that Sonic avoids Amy because she's immature. Not only that, but Sonic is simply not ready for such a relationship because of his age and regular occupation. Sonic is not only a freedom fighter, but he also runs free and explores the world independently without carrying any weight on his back. Sonic spends much of his time alone running at mach 1 to 3 taking trips around the world while constantly testing his speed, strength, intelligence and other abilities. As a young hedgehog, just like any young man should, Sonic is pushing his limits to see how far he can go without any distractions. At the same time, Sonic constantly has to keep Eggman in check on a regular basis while fighting other villains too. Sonic is too busy growing into his prime to engage in any real romance with anyone at all. Anyone who's single needs to know their parameters before inviting and coming into someone else's life. On the other side of the coin, Amy is too childish. She's over emotional, obsessive, and a selfish brat that keeps coming after Sonic like a leech. Sonic knows good and well if he gets into a relationship with Amy, he'll have to settle his life down before he found his limits, and Amy at this stage would be the greatest distraction and weight that'll slow him down to a complete halt every single time she screams for something. This wouldn't be healthy because Sonic just can't keep turning around to carry a little girl around especially during heated moments of his growth and dealing with villains. In the end, Sonic 'basically' has to reach his prime and max out his potential before he can become mentally prepared and safe for a relationship, which includes his age and his hero work. Amy, on the other hand, needs to grow up, become independent, and prove she is capable of living without Sonic. I can't tell if Sonic is truly attracted to any part of Amy or even wants to be, and I don't blame him because she's often times a nightmare to deal with. Some people try to point out signs of his love for her, but his regular response to her is already so fickle that I can't say affirmative to anything. Amy needs a life of her own, which is something Sonic understands lightyears better than her. I have reason to believe that the relationship can work eventually, but both characters need to master their single lives first, and neither one has gotten to that point yet. I just hope SEGA can capitalize on what I just said and allow the characters to grow up and not stay the same age forever.

i like Amy rose sure she can be a bit over excited to see sonic at times but remember it was Amy that manged to get to the heart of a robot in SA1 and got him to turn away from eggman and protected gamma from sonic who was ready to destroy him and in SA2 it was Amy who awakened shadows heart and convinced him not to destroy Mobius Amy is a misunderstood and compassionate little pink hedgehog that I think people scrutinize way to much it is also Canon by Sega that sonic actually likes Amy as more than just a friend but he is too shy to tell her lmao

I'm not a big fan of most Sonic characters. I do agree, Amy seems like a love addict or in love with the idea of love. A part of me wonders if she intentionally played around with the tarot cards to get them to say yes you'll meet Sonic or misinterpreted them since tarot is kinda ambiguous, such as death card could mean death or changes, both good or bad. About the only characters I like are Shadow, Silver, and Blaze. I tried playing Shadow when I was younger but never got all the endings, and never saw the real ending myself. Also Shadow759 got me liking Shadow and Silver. Silver seems like a good boy and a potentially smart kid if his home timeline wasn't on fire. I like how Blaze seems to be not like Amy and ready to give her heart away to just anyone and isn't like Rouge and ready to resort to flirting to get what she wants. She also seem independent which seems rare to me and I respect it.
