Meanwhile Tails is “Tailgating” behind Sonic enjoying his own view. Sonic is free and what better way to celebrate than return to what he truly loves.. Running to his next adventure Beautiful.
Chip is still alive, it's just that he's trapped inside Earth's core with Dark Gaia again. It's sad because Chip wishes to stay with Sonic forever but remembers he has a purpose to serve. It's very touching and sad. ):
Yeah, maybe because of his personallity. Chip said to him after he recovered his memory that Sonic is strong, I thought about this when I watched the ending of Sonic Rush (no spoilers), another example: the ending of Adventure 2, "let's go on, saving that planet is cool as blue as me!". I, for some reason, didn't cry with this (Ending of Unleashed, believe or not), maybe because of a spoiler (Maybe I knew Chip didn't die exactly, but it's sad), but it calls my attention; about that episode (Ben Curtis - BC Media reffered to the episode 78), it's impossible to not cry (both endings), Sonic didn't hug Tails... (A light spoiler about the ending)

Unlike most who started liking the game late, I loved Unleashed since the day it came out. It sat at my 3rd favorite until I finally completed the game for the first time in 2016 after 8 years due to medal collecting moving it up to 2nd where it still stands there to this day. Unleashed was a fantastic game.
Same here, even though I never got the game, I thought the idea of having a "werewolf-like" form of sonic and the forgotten character of Chip in the game, was spectacular.
This was the best 3D Sonic game, it has everything that makes a perfect Sonic game, and has a lot of charm... And still, people hated this game, fuck, it even got a 3/10 in some reviews. And now we'll never have another Sonic game like this, fuck... I mean, now people started to like this game, but it's too late...
3/10????? WOT But yeah, this is honestly a good game. If only SEGA had polished the Werehog stages, make them less tedious, I would give it a solid 8.5 to 9/10. And this game as a pretty good balance between jokes and serious moments, and I hope Forces will be at the level of this game. I'm honestly looking foward to it.

Mainly because most of the developers from unleashed and generations left to work at Nintendo In fact a lot of the staff for breath of the wild and super Mario galaxy 2 were lead developers for unleashed. Which explains why those games look so beautiful
I'm still mad that this game got such poor reception when it came out, Unleashed wasn't perfect by any means but it was the last mainline Sonic game to have actual integrity and a solid story.

I don’t think Sonic actually uses them in the story of Colors, so it would be cool if they were brought back by the timeline being messed up in Generations.

MultiMaxTaylor They didn't, actually. The guys behind Unleashed and Generations left to work for better companies like Nintendo and Square. Forces was made by one guy who worked on Lost World and a couple of interns. And as far as I'm concerned that's all they have left, so don't expect things to get any better anytime soon.
I agree I really hope Sega Gets some new developers to work on future sonic games because this game right here was their masterpiece this game define not only what modern sonic is But what Sonic himself is really all about just a fast blue hedgehog built for speed who will go out of his way to help his friends and save the day. this is the sonic I always knew and to see what their currently doing to him now just brings me to tears especially with the garbage movie their trying to throw him in and they can't even get that right. Unleashed was a masterpiece for a number of reasons best story best stages The boost formula was pushed to the limits with this one and the stages were long enough to balance it and it didn't end in 10 secs like forces best pace of game play amazing music dlc stages best modern sonic game they even added in clips of sonic and chip's adventures while traveling. SEGA needs to take notes and based future sonic games off of this one because it did everything right in terms of the sonic franchise.
Still here, 11 years later. Its always nice to come back and watch these. The first time i played this game through i was maybe 7 or 8. Wishing i could go back and relive the small moments, like sitting downstairs fighting over the wii remote with my brother. The small things we long for.
Hands down my favorite sonic game and my favorite video game of all time Being a sonic fan for my whole life and my mom being a sonic fan, this sonic game is like no other sonic game out there With the werehog stages and the daytime stages being awesome I have to say if they make a remake i can shut up and SEGA can take my money.
I always felt in endless possibilities when they said’ your losing your speed, your losing your flow. They were acknowledging Sonic’s recent train wrecks and they said ‘We’re gonna be good again’

Finally I finished this super game, both on ps2 and on ps3, it is wonderful, I will never understand why it was bad in criticism, its history, its graphics, its characters, its history, this game gave me hours of fun, and just I mean... sayorana Light gaia, Chip we will miss you so much : ")
THE WAY THIS ENDED WAS SO PERFECT! THE WAY THAT SONG STARTS PLAYING AS CREDITS ROLL AND HE RUNS AND TAILS IN THE TORNADO FLYING NEXT TO HIM AS THE CREDITS START TO ROLL AND THE TITLE OF THE GAME APPEAR AS THE CREDITS CONTINUE TO ROLL IS JUST PERFECT! IM OBSESSED!
I remember getting this game for Christmas in 2008 I was 16 years old when it came out had so much fun playing it for hours on my 360 one of my favorite sonic games I’ve ever played
I’ve just finished unleashed and now I’m watching the credits on my Phone because I needed to know when to turn off the Xbox. Beautiful credits even on phone. I think I lost like. 80 lives to eggman land and dark Gaia in total though.
The ending of this game always makes me shed a tear, just remembering going through this game for myself just gets so emotional,i go back to play this game every couple years and its a timeless experience. Congratulations and thank sonic team for giving me the best sonic experience I’ve ever had.
12:58 the goosebumps. the satisfaction of beating that tense marathon of a final boss. the fun memories i made during the campaign. the adrenaline rush the day time stages gave me. the interesting platforming and fun, yet repetitious combat of the werehog. sonic unleashed means many things to many people. some people love it, some people hate it. for me, i dont know if i would say it was my favorite experience, but i would say without a shadow of a doubt that it was an epic, magical, unforgettable one. those final notes of the credits just silently made me think "............wow. what an adventure"
There are a lot of things about this game that I don't like, but the two things that make it stand out are the ambition and presentation. They really went all out on this game and I respect that.

It's honestly a shame that this game got shat on hard by the press and fans, because it's a really beautiful game with a pretty nice message about friendship. Sure it might be generic, but it's still a tear jerker looking at this credits scene. Not only that, the game was most importantly, fun. The levels were very well designed (minus Eggmanland, still hate that level), and the werehog levels, while sure not the most polished or deep in terms of combat, were still fun to play. Another thing people I feel don't give this game too much credit for is the look and graphics. Despite this game releasing back in 2008, it's still a beautiful game to look at. I can only imagine how it'll look now if Sega were to remaster or remake it on modern consoles and PC. Only a pipe dream though from the looks of it.
Mostly the biggest issue with me is that is the difficulty and level design can reply shat it self badly especially for the dark gia phase 3 of the running section

There are a lot of annoyances I have with the game but I still enjoyed my time with it. Reason why I feel a remake nowadays with the design philosophy Sega has is warranted, and now more than ever since Unleashed is seeing public opinion on it shift from the fanbase. But that's just me though idk maybe a lot of people still don't feel the same way lol

NO!!! How many times are people gonna keep spreading misinformation, Sonic unleashed was not supposed to be sonic adventure 3. "Sonic World Adventure" is the Japanese name for unleashed and still is. Its called "world adventure" because sonic and chip are going on an "adventure" around the "WORLD". Just because adventure is in the name doesn't make it a continuation of the adventure series. The original comment is talking about the similarities of SA2 and Unleashed ending being bitter sweet as sonic departs with a friend he met at his beginning of the adventure.

Chip didn't actually die. He just went back to sleep, back to being sealed away in the earth's core along with Dark Gaia, but since we never see him again outside of the spinoffs, this might as well be Chip's Death. 😭
Just watched this to find out who the saxophone player in the soundtrack was. Yoshinari Takegami is the madman behind those insane saxophone riffs from Shamar and Empire City.
I like how they reenact the werehog falling scene again, but with Sonic normal form, and almost make it the same, except for Chip not being there actually. That technique is used in movies too, when a later scene makes a callback to a previous scene. A movie that do this greatly, imo, is Toy Story 3. In the second movie, Mr. Potato Head saves the aliens toys from falling off the truck, and so, they were eternally grateful. Then, on the third movie, the aliens toys rescues Andy's toys, and so, Potato Head says "You saved our lives. We are eternally grateful". This scene is kinda powerful for me, since it's not only a callback, but a cycle has close, with the aliens returning the favor.
Man, this game is awesome. It’s a shame this got so much hate sonic team and Sega put a lot of effort into this game I guess sonic fans cannot be satisfied. I remember playing this game when I was only eight years old and had a blast playing this game now I’m 16 years old
This Game's story is something we haven't seen in a while now (in Sonic games). The Sonic games which have this kind of deepness are Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow The Hedgehog (at least it tried), Sonic The Hedgehog (look over the gameplay), Sonic Lost World. Sonic Forces kinda tried to but didn't made it sadly. Sonic Frontiers finally is gonna be a Sonic game with a deep story.

Well dark gia was referenced in frontiers, but sadly we didn't get any real confirmation about the history of the temples or manuscripts. If anything, we're left with more questions than answers about the emeralds after learning about their place of origin.
