You said it yourself, Sonic has an extremely skewed perspective. The tier list for the top 0.01% of players is vastly different than the tier list for everyone else.
The tier list can be changed around only slightly tho, but he’s right 99% of people who play MK1 or any fighting game in general sucks, besides the portion of us who actually practice and don’t complain.
Being an online warrior is one thing even if you're at the highest rank, but actually competing and doing well in tournaments is another thing. The majority aren't high level tourney players which is probably the 1%, and yeah the other 99% are just online warriors who'd get smoked by the 1%.
Retrhoe and Faysal made a lot of point with Kitana. Retrhoe's endless loop in the corner and their confirms are freaking insane. Faysal is a god with KhamKit combo, but I agree too, Retrhoe is a tad bit better. Not to mention, Retrhoe basically utilized everything annoying about Kitana to the highest level. Also, dang, the salutation to Retrhoe is freaking major. I've been a Retrhoe fan since MK1 released and to see them get acknowledged by THE G.O.A.T of MK is amazing.
I don’t even want anyone in the game nerfed, I want everyone buffed. Sure nerf peacemaker but if everyone was buffed to the point they could keep up with Johnny this game would actually be fun to play.
I play Quan and your analysis is so on point. People jail me all the time with Johnny and Ashara. Too quick. And with no meter I just get stuck in corners and punished when I try to air stomp out of desperation.

Kenshi Johnny Tanya Reiko Raiden and Sindel have consistently been top tier, characters like Shang, Havik, Reptile, Sub, Scorp, and Nitara have consistently been bottom tier

He’s a rush down, rush down characters have lots of plus frames. They need it, characters with further reaching normals or good zoning don’t need plus frames.
@@AyeeShaad Smoke is a rush down and he has only 1 string I think that's plus frames and has gaps all over.. maybe they thought it's fine cuz he has crazy mix but the result is no one is using him competitively he is only nightmare for the casuals until maybe Grand Master rank..

He also can do INVISIBLE 50/50s, he doesn’t need plus frames, people just don’t use him because his cancels are hard.

Ranked FT3 has always been a horrible idea. Nobody wants to spend that much time playing against the same person. If you beat me in 2 matches, cool I'll go on to the next opponent If I beat you in 2 matches, cool you go on to the next person. But potentially playing 5 matches in ONE set is a pain in the ass when you're just trying to chill and have fun/rank up.
@@AmiriHipHop nah i think for ranked play it should be ft3. if youre just tryna chill and have fun then you play casual. but if its ranked ft2 isnt enough to adapt to your opponent. it should follow tournament format which is ft3

I'm not about to sit and complain "The only reason you won is because it's FT2. If this was FT3 I easily would've figured you out and beat you". Small Tekken and big Tekken are referring to frames. Small Tekken is 10-12 frame moves and big Tekken is anything else, idk what sonic fox is talking about

I agree with almost everything he says but saying Kitana has no weakness is a little crazy. Her mix is pretty weak outside of wind bomb stuff (which is not easy to get in high level btw since Kitana is not typically putting you in the corner, which is why we dont ever see wind bomb setups in pro play) and she has gaps after the first hits of her 2 best strings, S2 and B2. This might not seem like a big deal until you realize how safe armor can be in this game, and some characters even get full combos on reversal- specifically 2 other top tiers, Lao and Tanya. She's good but yall be up playing this character.
Fully agree. She's been my main since the beta and while she is good, once you lab her, she becomes so exploitable. Also, that Shang matchup is not remotely enjoyable.

You also need a great understanding of footsies and neutral which the other top tiers don't. If it weren't for Khameleon, I don't even think Faysal wouldve played her in FK.
@@Luuzer2 Once you know all her dumb stuff she's... I don't wanna say mid, because mid is "mid" but she can't zone. So she HAS to use either Mavado, Serena or Khameleon. It's not really optional.
@@Luuzer2 Basically, she HAS to use 1 of 3 kameos - Khameleon, Mavado or Serena. She can't zone or deal with zoners, now that the meta has settled. Anything else isn't viable against zoners who know what they're doing.
Ashrah is strong as fk lol great normals, crazy damage, great reach so neutral is strong, plus projectile, dark stance is crazy good, solid over head, amazing armour (probably best in game), and Sareena gives full screen combos. I main Ashrah so can say for a fact if you are playing against a good Ashrah she's a problem.

I wish we could go back to the time when the term 'broken' meant it breaks the game. Nothing is 'cheap' or 'strong' or simply 'plus' anymore. Everything is 'broken'. Seems like a downgrade in FGC lingo.

I really want to see how you would use Havik. He was my main for a while, but I was having a hard time winning against people that actually knew the match up
That's Havik for you. He's a threat when you don't know the matchup. But once you do, you see the landslide of gigantic gaps in his moveset. His armor is so weak you can get a small normal or even string, flawless block it and then punish. His B2 is slow and has a gap on all options, and without Mavado, he loses on every exchange. His s1 range is shit, and his 22 hitbox is so small I get blown up more CONSISTENTLY just because of the tiny hitbox on the 2nd hit making everything whiff
Nothing has changed with Baraka or his best kameos since your last tier list when you had him at bottom 5 and now all the sudden you have him in S tier. What exactly changed since then? 😂
SonicFox talks about Khameleon as if she's the only kameo in the game (constantly saying such and such a move works with Kham this and Kham that, now this character has - 50 health and so on) unfortunately at high level play and at Final Kombat, she is/was pretty much the only kameo. The MK meta evolves so slowly.

I played kenshi when I played mk 1 I though he wasn't as good as people said reiko just kills u by throwing stars and peacemaker just had every tool for kenshi
Radien/Darrius is no joke. It makes him look broken. Too many Raiden players still stuck trying to play lame with stormcell/kanoball when that plan has been gutted.
Maybe i think a bit differently then pros. But it is important info. Ive learned through playing and even seeing more pros play each other it seems to me its just about how you play any character against your opponent. Your my homie sonic but even tho your first tier was putting someone like scorpion at the bottom, you did get beat by him lol. No hate or anything i just think it may be the perspective of the player. Pro player more importantly. Over the years frame data is so important and vital to know that i get why we keep doing these tier list. Mk11 cage and Scarlet was bottom tier but everyone made them high tier. Honeybee played dvorah and because he was one of ones playing her, alot of people couldn't touch him. So thats just my only opinion. It all seems to come to the knowledge of what you know and your opponent knows.
Sometimes I like to think like you but then why tf we witnessed that abomination of a tournament that was Final Kombat like that was so ugly only 2 characters for the most part... So I'm not sure you're right I mean wtf 1 characters gets a 9 frame mid while the rest doesn't and why some characters hae plus frames all over and others doesn't.. This tierlists are irrelevant when it comes to casual play though.. I will always play the characters I like the most visually and their moves set or their story.. So I play 1.Smoke 2.Tanyq 3. Sindel 4. Nitara I would have played more Nitara but hit confirming with her is a bit harder than with the other 3 and I'm not that good still
Reptile is easily one of the best characters in MK1, not only that his sweep and mid-range game is super strong, but he can be played at any range depending on the Kameo, and he has one if not the most versatile Kameo list in the whole game.
Since I don't consider all those guest trash as KHARACTERS here, since they DO NOT belong in mk, so i never count them, my main is actually in 3rd place... Which is great, considering not many people like her. GO Tanya...
i used to watch ton of MK content on youtube and streaming but MK1 isnt it. I cant watch more Johny vs Johny or Peacemaker. thats all there is with Kameleon and Kano

Sonic needs to go back to using characters nobody else uses or not as common cause all that peacemaker v Johnny was too much for no reason i get the whole they want to win but sonic is god mode with any characters and in this game you can win with anybody if your sonic or good enough. Hopefully we don't get that repeat on evo and actually see a variety of characters so it can be enjoyable to watch
I'm also not sure if there are only 2 viable characters or if the pros were too affraid to use anyone else... Btw Sonic was the one with the most viariaty of characters at least at Combo Breaker.
This is abit Confusing beside the top 5 Characters every single other Characters in this Game is incomplete they are not good base on design and Creativity they all heavy need Kameos just to play there on basic game plan if any
If 2 characters fought for 10 times the wins that each character would have. 2 perfectly balanced characters would be 5-5, slight advantage one has is 6-4, and so on.
@@andrueis Yeah I agree with that. I'm just saying that Li Mei and Reptile players are the biggest downplayers IMO. They swear their characters are unviable/trash/unusable/ect. even though Reptile has great damage and a lot of mind games from his cancel and Li Mei has her absurd damage output and the only character who can punish pokes for like 35% and up. I'm not saying they're top tier at all, I'm just saying they're solid and the people who play them swear they aren't. I think they could use some buffs to make the balance of the game better and more fun but they honestly dont need that much. I'm surprised the Reptile and/or Li Mei defense team hasn't rushed to this comment section yet with "thEy hAvE gApS yOu CaN aRmoR tHrOugh".
If you run into a really good gearas you're almost completely fucked. The damage is so easy. Also adding motaro and geras together make it so that geras only has 900 hp i dont think his teleport is worth the drop of health.
As an Omni-Man main I would like to see him get a very minimal buff and that would be making his forward 2 faster or maybe allowing the player to choose whether they want to hit that overhead immediately or windup and flip sides with the opponent, allowing for mixups with his forward 4 since Omni-Man can really only combo off of punishes especially since most of his attacks are punishable which adds to his limited range. I’d be ok with a slight damage nerf if that means he can have more utility
Nah no way he is better than any of those characters Sonic listed as above. He really doesn’t have anything good other than standing 2, jump 2, back 3. A few good normals isn’t enough to make you better than those chars Sonic mentioned who are way more ignorant and have extraordinarily tools
