The Education of Sonny Carson is a 1974 film based on the best-selling autobiography of Sonny Carson who joined a gang and committed petty crime before being sent to prison. After his release from prison he changes his life.
No actors except for the guy who plays Sonny and the light brotha (that's Cyrus from the Warriors). The dude playing Wolfe, the one that's challenging the Lords, was a real President of the Tomahawks street gang in NYC back in the 70's. They say that cat was bad for real.
Wolfe is either a real gangster they got for the movie or the single greatest actor in history. I grew up with some real street kids, tough gang banger types and he acts exactly like them, sounds like them, responds like them, moves like them and everything perfectly. I'm goin say he was a real G.
He was. Wolf/Akbar was president of the Tomahawks street gang. He was a legend in Brownsville, Brooklyn before and after the movie. He changed his life and did a lot for the community and passed away a few years ago R.I.P
Being young, I still grew up on 70s shit, especially the warriors, so I found out the dude that played Cyrus was really in the streets when he was younger
