Sonos should update the software to use 2 sub mini instead of just 1 .... make sense for those who already have one but would prefer adding the sub mini instead of the big one.... Also make it possible to add 2 more speakers ( Era 100 or 300) has side speakers to complement the surround in the back for a more immersive sound.

Your idea with the multichannel era 300 speakers is exactly what they need to do. It will be very popular. I would add allowing the era 100 into the mix, especially for small spaces or as surrounds.

Sonos can get a lot more customers if they add more flexibility with their home theater options to mimic something close to the Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6. Simple things like using the Era 30/Five/Era 100 as an extra soundbar center channel, adding any additional speakers as true L/R surrounds with the soundbar in actual side surround locations, Using 1-3 of the Era 300/100, Five, or One SLs as a soundbar in any combination with other speakers or alone, adding additional rear surround speakers you can angle up 45 degrees or mount ceiling height for rear Atmos effect, etc... All the pieces are there, just add the function into the app.

I have wanted to get into the Sonos ecosystem for years, but there have always been a few drawbacks keeping me from the plunge. With the 300s and the Pinebox, the full atmos bubble I'm looking for seems to be at my fingertips. I wonder if it would be possible to add the in ceiling speakers for downward firing Atmos rather than relying on the bounce effect. I really do want a quality full Atmos experience from a wireless setup. However, full DTS support also needs to be included. I have too many Blu-ray and UMD movies to just set aside. Though, even I am starting to see the writing on the wall for physical media, I'm not willing to give it up yet.

In 2021, we went with a Bose 900 and 700 sub combo over the Arc and sub combo. We tested both at home and preferred the more airy/spacious sound profile and aesthetic. I knew Bose didn’t and still doesn’t have much of an ecosystem to offer, but we liked the soundbar enough to stick with it. I’m really interested in hearing Sonos’ new bar and learning about all the other new offerings. As much as we enjoy the Bose setup, we’re ready to setup a network of speakers within our home. Sonos may be exactly what we’re looking for.

Providing one has done the sub crawl. Dual subs will help even out the bass. Basically better perception of Bass, no matter which seat one is sitting in. An avid music listener.

If you have Apple TV you can connect a era 300 stereo pair via airplay and go with that until the SB comes out … seems like it may be worth waiting to buy a sub

You can also buy a refurbished Arc too. In my brief Sonos experience, firmware wise there has been a “Watch and Wait” time that usually lasts somewhere between 2-4 months. For instance, the Era 300’s had issues until a firmware update fixed the problems few months after release. That said, if I do decide to buy it, I’ll wait a months. Im the meantime, I’m really digging my current set up.

If cost is an issue it may be worth it to wait. They should put the Arc on sale prior to the release of the new soundbar. They discounted the Move 25% before they launched the Move 2 this year. I have the move and am not planning on paying the extra cost for the 2. May upgrade to the longer-life battery though. Glad they allow the ability to change the battery once it’s toast. Wish all manufacturers did the same.

Of this, my interest is in the center channel IF it is a substantial improvement on the Arc AND allow integration of front facing Era 300s and better use of Era 300s as surrounds. Yes, I’m asking a lot, but so is Sonos with their pricing. Otherwise, ditching the sound bar Ang going with the new box and 5 Era 300s could be interesting (depending on the price). At this point, I do have to ask myself how much further I want to go down the Sonos rabbit hole.

Hello, getting an arc here shortly. Most of my movies run through my Xbox console. If the arc only has the one hdmi. Will it still play my Xbox movies with the best audio or even atmos? Or will I need some sort of other plug in? Or hdmi?

The Arc can play lossless audio from Dolby and LPCM sources … for DTS it’s limited to digital 5.1 which is lossy. It can play Atmos. For lossless data you will need a TV with eARC because the Arc does not have an HDMI input

The fives play the role of the traditional high-fi speaker … it will be refreshed or replaced (don’t know when) but may not have the spatial chops of the 300 … my hot take

I would really like to see the new amp, and bigger sub. Not really a fan of the whole WiSA thing. It’s generally really complicated, can be unreliable at times, and you aren’t getting lossless. The signal is not the same as being hardwired.

I think the draw is “wireless” wide front soundstage (explosion of the soundbar) but with plug and play ease … Sonos connections tend to me more robust than the typical SB kit as well

@@neverenoughtechWireless traffic in a commercial environment can play havoc on a Sonos system. There are wifi antennas, phones, POS machined everywhere working on various frequencies and the solution is to hardwire Sonos devices as much as possible. The other thing about installing multiple ERA 100's in a nice space is it has to be accommodated by power power outlets that make for an ugly installation when they can't be hidden

I don’t know about adding a new sound bar. The soundbars have almost no stereo imaging. Just improving sound quality seems a bit boring. We are talking 50 % price bump from a discounted arc. I’m rather for having 4-5 eras synced up.

I liked s Samsung soundbar for the performance/price. But, at the end the day, the software of Samsung is just crazy. It keeps changing the setting!!!! Hence, I started migration to Sonos. More expensive, but much more stable.

Sonos really needs a better performing center channel. The ARCs muddy attempt doesn’t cut it anymore with the 300s. Adding the surrounds and sub was supposed to add fidelity to centre as these resources were delegated away from the arc however I find myself sorely disappointed. Especially for $3700

I think Sonos is missing the boat if they don’t offer a better streamer offering that will allow true hi res streaming and decent linear power supply. Audiophiles do not consider a high end streaming amp if limited to redbook spec, crappy dac and no linear power supply. I understand the reasoning for the limited res to ensure all rooms/units sync but in my set up we have a Sonos port for my families casual listening and a Eversolo dmp a6 for my serious listening via Qobuz (yes there is a massive difference). I have both connected to the same Anthem amp and dac with the default being the Sonos but if I were the only user in my household I wouldn’t bother with the Sonos at all. At the end of the day they will likely sell a ton of the high end amp units to well heeled clients that don’t know any better.

Sonos is for family - my wife and kid have no issues with it and they are successful in accessing it. With the amp (for prof install) it will be interesting to see how far they go towards hifi - it might be a narrow category where they can do a bit more

@@neverenoughtech I think the high end streaming wishlist I have is likely to occur with Sonos being baked into a licensed product like Wrensilva console I 100% agree the family friendly ease of use aspect is its main selling point. Additionally what I’ve noticed is the offerings are leaning towards a home theater focus ( look at the comments). I’ve been a Sonos user for 16+ years migrating from Squeezebox which had superior fidelity but was a pain to use. Nothing comes close to Sonos when it comes to plug and play.

People don't know what they're missing by not using an nvidia gpu and a pc to play content, instead of the crappy streaming boxes. If sonos improves the size of some components like they did with the surrounds, would be pretty awesome. But their prices... I still stuck with my SB46514-F6. Want something new, but nothing worth the change over 4 years later...

Sonos makes products for high-income techies. Two big passive stereo speakers and one amp make good sound for decades. Just ad a cheap streaming device for your Smartphone and your set-up will survive most of these consumer electronics companys. You need multiroom music? Open the door and turn up the volume 😅

EXACTLY! Why can't Sonos add that feature to a 2nd pair of rear One SLs or Era 100 you can then angle up for rear Atmos. I have Fives as rear surrounds and it would be nice to add Era 100/One SLs next to them leaning back firing upwards.

Trigger warning Having been in and around the A/V world for 25+years this is my opinion of Sonos. It is the modern equivalent of Bose in the 90's and early 2000's, over priced hype, decent marketing, and a sound that people, who have never heard anything better, might enjoy. The entire "lifestyle" marketing is extremely reminiscent of that era and Sonos' mediocre sound quality matches it.

Sonos strikes a balance … and its sound competition is other soundbars not traditional A/V. I agree there is better more transcendent audio out there to pursue but the combination of well better than average experiences (for segment) and unique network technologies … elevates the product far above gimmick or merely clever advertising

Strongly disagree . Sure Sonos has a sound but not many mass market products have frequency responses as flat as Sonos.

I can't remove one speaker set, upgrade pieces to newer versions, or use individual components alone around the house for the soundbar, dual sub, and 2 rear speakers on my Nakamichi 7.2.4 system. I needed to dump the entire system if I wanted to upgrade to the Nakamichi Dragon. I ended up going with the Sonos Arc, dual subs, and Fives instead because I can upgrade individual components, reuse around the house for whole house audio, and sell individual speakers at a good price. Sonos isn't perfect; but, it is perfect for me.

Trigger warning…love it very appropriate:) Any A/V product at the end of the day could be characterized as a lifestyle product if you think about it, the gear you own says a lot about your lifestyle doesn’t it? I don’t bang on Bose I owned a Bose system it was something I could afford at the time and it had high wife approval factor ,our 5.1 setup took our tv viewing to another level. You’d be hard pressed to find someone who didn’t own one or experienced it at least. Refrigerator sized JBL speakers from my college days weren’t gonna happen in our decor Bose lifestyle systems was the right product at the right time for us anyway.

Please. Do not buy Sonos, until they go backwards and allow local control (without requiring cloud and therefore internet) to do basic things like pairing speakers!!

It’s restrictive but at least there is an eco system where it’s fairly non existent in other bars … it does support airplay and BT and voice assistants which opens it up to a degree
