So glad i found your channel, i live in florida and i am about to do the same thing. It feels like its not real so i cant wait to get started, I cant imagine that feeling when you walk onto your land for the first time once all the paper work is done and you can start clearing land. Hey Tony yeah I'm sorry for the delay in posting videos I am trying to finish the home before July 2021 and have been working on the house non stop. Rest assured the build is going well and I will be uploading the next episode soon as well as doing a lot of live streams.

Are the corner piers the same height as all the other piers? I was thinking the corners would be a different height due to corner supports. Im putting 2 container addition on to my house and am trying to start planning foundation piers. Thank you for your help

During the construction process I did make the middle piers something like half an inch higher in elevation than the corners.

Nice video but unless i missed it I did not see 1) how the sonotubes were secured to the 2x4 frame or 2) how the 2x4 frame was secured to the ground

Can't mention the exact seller but I can say the guy owned an 18 wheeler trucker delivery company. He used shipping containers to deliver the goods. So he had a bunch of spare containers lying around and sold them as a side hustle....probably the reason he got me such good prices

Hey I Am professional welder you give inspiration to build one i think buy me already working with metal will cut down cost alot what you think

If you're already a welder and metal worker then you'll probably save yourself a lot of time research and headache. And yes since you can weld and metal work yourself you may not need to hire someone else (welders ain't cheap). I think if you already work in metal it could be a decent transition to steel containers, but at the end of the day you'll probably still have to learn a lot about traditional home building (foundation, framing, etc) I really do wonder if there is a smarter way to wood frame the inside of container homes. It seems excessive to fill a steel box with a bunch of wood walls....and I understand the wood holds up drywall but...anyways. Good luck

Yeah....but even beyond metal studs....I dont know it just seems like framing (metal or wood) is like building a house within a house and it seems costly. But I haven't thought of an alternative so....

@@thinkoutsidethecontainer you right about that how many square footage your house gonna and how many bed and bath and also keep in you could save money 💰 buy welding some of your furniture like dining table coffee table head boards light fixtures and will last longer than wood sky is the limit with metal

Why you picked that tube so big, instead of a 12’ or 16’?

Hey Alicia, it was what my structural engineer chose. The main reason is because on some columns, 2 containers connect, so they needed to be big enough to fit 2 container corners, and then the steel plates which were a little bigger than the container corners. It's just how it turned out...

whats the diameter of the sonotubes used?

22 inches. Though consider that the manufacturer of the tubes on their website says the actual diameter can vary I believe up to an inch

Is 22 what the engineering company determined? 24 are more common and cheaper i believe as that size is a common in stock item

Lol alright Maxi. Yeah the plans called for 22-inch diameter columns, with a footing underneath. Though I'll point out that during my research of sonotubes I read that the tubes could vary like something up to an inch in diameter from the manufacturer's stated size
