The two characters at the end were from the first game. The old guy was Eric, the dude you played as and his son was Timmy, who you saved at the end. Lore stuff.
@John Cake That was the theory when the trailers came out, but it's been confirmed. He even has the same scar as Timmy does at the end of the first game. You can also assume that's why Eric says, "Get down, SON."
@@crazyooma wait so why is the character able to just eat raw meat?? And his arm says fight demons, and is on the same arm that Timmy had his bubbly arm shit on at the end of the game. They had me fooled bruh
@@thepebble265 whatever, we’ll argue with each other in another comment because I can’t imagine that this will be the only one you reply to, so best regards
Grandpa: "We were flying over the forest in a helicopter, and we crashed. The enemies were everywhere. In the trees, in the ground, in the caves. Kelvin lost his hearing, and i had to eat a leg of an enemy combatant to survive" Grandkid: "Was Vietnam that bad?" Grandpa: "Hell no. I was talking about a video game."
nonono, it's what happens when you teach an 80 year old Demented Vietnam Veteran how to make games in Unity, then ask him to make a game that represents his memories from the war.
It's true we were conquerors and kings. Weaker cultures deserved what they got, they would have done exactly the same if they had the technology and ambition.
To be fair. the previous game "The forest" was early access alpha, beta, all the way to full release. What made the game exciting was how the game always had a countdown at the start where you can see when the new update was gonna release, and when it released fully the game was really good for the most part. the problem was how buggy it was at the start but I'm glad the dev released it and listened alot.
Pyro: *plays a game in the not intended way* Pyro: why does the game feel weird Me: *makes this comment* People: oh boy howdy, this sure seems like a great place to have an argument!
Is there really a wrong way to play it though? When you drop someone in a big environment and give them nothing to go off of, chances are they'll either uninstall or do anything in their immediate area.
@@coltonwilkie241 Hell this game DOES give you things to do with the gps, wich is what Pyro's done, right now the game pulls players towards this type of playstyle more than anything else
@Milk Man™ did you even play it? And don't tell me you speedrun the game and looked up tutorials to beat it because its not made to be played like that
@Milk Man™ thanks for the take I was feeling so so on buying it and worse after watching this video cuz it just didn't look like there was anything to do besides look around for shit. I knew how much they had worked on the forest to make it into a fleshed out game so I thought it would be good.
@Milk Man™ It is literally early access, so yes, ppl excuse it as it is nowhere near the final product. They are just revealing to us what they have playable so far. So I'd say the game isn't worth it rn, but later on most likely will as it is still pretty fun and good for early access. More fun with friends too, so I would recommend to play with others for now.
The whole time we were down in the ending caves, they were giving us insane amout of weapon ammo and bombs. We thought it was for a big boss fight, but no. It was to go into some random cube and look at a random city?
@@carterrogers7722 me when the developers of sons of the Forest released their game in early access to please the fans instead of postponing and delaying it again 😱😱😱😱
@@harrypotamus4968 long are the days games would be released and you would just enjoy yourself, nowadays you gotta buy the dlc for the full experience, grind a in-game battlepass to unlock cosmetics and a huge amount of bugs
@@imago8906 Well consider me not pleased lol, the game is boring, easy, and clunky. The inventory was a cool idea but a blunder in execution, the combat feels like shit, the story is ass, the base building is clunky and not worth fucking with. If you're pleased with this release then you need to get higher standards my boy. Releasing an unfinished game for a finished game price isn't acceptable, no matter how deep their dick is in your throat.
i feel like the problem with having everything marked on the gps is like the objectives are too clear and you know exactly where to go, theres like no point in even settling down and making a base, you barely have to do anything besides run point to point, kill cannibals, and eat and drink.
Im confused, please explain how putting the laser on top of the gun is anything but moronic and doesn't make the gun harder to use. Forget how horribly it translates in game, I've never shot a gun that has the laser blocking the sights and forces you to only use the laser to aim and if we look at how it translates in game, the only use it has is hipfire which you shouldnt need a laser for bodyshots and is completely useless for headshots while moving
@@KennySlab yesh they were, the old man in the helicopter, which yells «Get down son!» is Eric, the guy you play as in the First game and the guy that shows you the computer in the golden box is Timmy, Erics son.
@@vandercomics I thought that this would be a prequel of some sorts? Because the Virginia girl reminds me of the Mutant you see in the first game which also was named Virginia, no? Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

"Just got the head of a cooked person. Something really wrong about that. Anyway, let's cook the rest of the meat." -Pyro losing his sanity over stress from Petscop 2 and falling off
pyro screaming "who is this guy?!" like they werent VERY vocal and open about those two people being the main character and his kid from the last game.
basically this game is like the first in that u dont need a base but its way more tedious. the caves r spread out and not overlapping so as long as u go to everything on the map in a counterclockwise order starting from the beach cave u will beat the game
Pyro those are the only cutscenes in the game right now. I was super confused aswell when I finished it because I felt like I missed a huge chunk of the story
just like the original forest, it's gonna get fixed in its early access state, which it is in now and tbh already goty for me but probably just cause I enjoy survival games.
Storyline info for people that dont know or dont understand it!!!! The rich people puffton family was own a company called "puffcorp" and they were told to outbid the other company "Sahara" to buy this island because it is rich of gold. So they went to the island but they had no knowledge of this golden cube, every 8 cycles everything on the island that ISNT in the cube transforms into mutant and the closer you are to the cube the worse the effect are. The cube can transport you to parallel universes hence this silver jacketed guy was after it and PROBABLY why he attacked the helicopters because he didnt want this information leaked (i dont know why he didn't kill the main character when he could). So at the ending when enter the golden cube you see the silver jacketed guy not make it into the cube and the scene after the city (which is a view of a different universe) it shows a big mutant and the mutant is the silver jacketed guy whom didnt make it inside the cube while the cube cycle was happening. in the big dining area you see alot of dead mutants and in the center where the big oval table is there are nameplate for whom the seats are reserves and edward pufftons seat is occupied by a mutant so he transformed into a mutant and his wifes seat and daughters seat is empty. Virginia is obv the daughter of edward and she didnt make it either hence in the story as we see her she is a half mutant but because she was swimming during the cycle (hence she wears a swimsuit when we meet her) she was basically off the island so the cube only had a mild effect on her. I dont know who the 2 guys are in the end (the father and son) it could very well be timmy and his father because in the game you find a book writen about parallel universes and on the cover you see TIM LEBLANC so it could be them.
The first The Forest game came out in alpha. Way more broken, But back then not many knew about the game. Also the two characters at the end are the father (The player) and Son from the first game. And I agree the ending is hella weird. People speculate that since its mentioned that inside the cube its the only safe place in the papers you find around, and since Eric had a count down on his PC when it happened, either time went super fast outside the cube and you saw a vision of the future (My least favorite theory) or that the vision is a deadspace type thing where these artifacts are aiming to control civilization towards a certain path, and in a blink on an eye, everything outside the cube got mutated. Both theories could explain why when the doors open the scientist guy turned into a mutated column. Either way, the lack of a final boss fight was very underwhelming, but again, The original forest released in alpha and didnt have one either.
That’s what early access is! It’s not supposed to be finished and completely playable, it’s just something where people can take a peek into development and have fun laughing at bugs while developers take note of glitches and continue development. It’s very fun to look at all the silly bugs and laugh.
For early access it sure feels more polished than AAA games these days. For some reason pyro wants to break the game. I’ve experience only a few bug but barely any
Pyro is the only person who throw a grenade and aim it at a friendly npc and go towards the fire and says it wasn't even that close in the first minute
the guy holding the laptop was timmy from the first game you can tell from the scar. and the dad us Eric, the guy you play as in the first one. is the big dining hall, you you a seat with a mutant that has the nameplate of the guy you were trying to save so he dead.
The Forest is a archipelago of unmarked islands of mysterious origin. Islands inhabited by a unnamed virus which drives any living sentient being mad or mutates them, given why the plane crashed in the first game. The islands is if not one of the first civilizations of intelligent life to inhabit Earth, alien in general given the underground advanced civilization. From it's bunkers to it's cults, the military, scientist, and fanatics as well inhabit these islands but find themselves being turned or hunted down by the influenced.
very fun fact: sons of the forest has no drm, which means pirating it is so easy, that all you need to do is give the games files to someone and they can run just run it
intro cutscene to the video exactly what I was saying until I googled the story to understand it, its really good just poorly told with good character tie ins from the first
me and my friend accidentally killed kelvin by throwing logs “to” him so he could take them to our base, but they crushed him and when we went to the logs he was buried like four feet underneath them
I really hate players who have over the top expectations of an early access, and even though they are warned about it they still complain endlessly. Also very quick to judge something, just play the game and have fun. In my honest opinion the game is indeed lacking in some parts, but its an early version, that is EXPECTED. Aside from the shitty ass ending, its pretty amazing.
The first thing i would test is if kelvin chops down the tree house.. It is sad they didnt even tried to fix stuff first. They just said fck it lets release
