25:15 best part is that supposedly if you send out The Ogre against Kieran, he'll refuse to use Status moves like Swords Dance or Toxic entirely, and focus wholely on beating you to death.
That mf even has a special line he says if you do and when I saw it I actually started laughing, not gonna spoil it but I just thought it was super funny
I know you meant beating your Pokémon to death, but I love the mental image that throwing out the ogre is so triggering he just gives up the battle and starts smashing his fists into you.
Kieran is frankly the most accurately written 13 year old I've ever seen in a video game. That would've been me if I met a legendary pokemon at age 13 too
@@Simplifriedyou have to complete the SV Pokédex, the kitakami dex, and the blueberry dex in Pokémon home. All those Pokémon have to be caught in SV tho not transferred from another game.
I don’t know why, but Kieran getting stomped in every single battle by the player, getting his entire personality changed to the point of vowing to never lose and becoming a school champion, and then getting stomped by both the player and Nemona is really funny. Seeing Tieran go through his joker arc from the perspective of the player is like a little warrior strengthening and changing himself to go fight GOD, and it’s really adorable. Dude never stood a single chance and yet gave it his all.
I named my character Peachie. There being a corner store in Kitakami called Peachy’s, and Drayton at one point saying “that would be just peachy” gave me a chuckle
Funniest part is that Orgepon use the power of friendship during her boss fight which is how she kept getting healed back up. She got healed because of remembering the journey to get the masks back. Friendship really is the ultimate power in Pokémon
Gotta say, Kieran is my favorite Pokémon character now that the DLC released. I was just as mentally ill and sensitive to rejection as an autistic young adult as him and I relate to that sooooo much. Also hes just really funny, like Alpha said. ScarVio dropped the ball on a lot but the characters were SO good this game!!
To be honest, I'm really neutral on the graphics and gameplay. But the characters? I haven't stopped thinking about them in YEARS. I love them, both base-game and DLC
Genuinely in the top 3 of Pokemon stories. Honestly the story carries a game that would have otherwise been a 4/10. It's like a 6.5 or 7/10 with how good the story is.
Funny enough Perrserker IS actually one of the better known Pokémon in the game. Because at some point the go to Tera Raid strat was FOUR Perrserker that all boost each other via the hidden ability and then spam Steel Beam with a 50 base SpA stat. Which actually just makes it funnier.
the rarity of perrserker is also hilarious because it was so good as a low-coordination strat for early raiding that a lot of players, especially in japan, would literally leave lobbies if you weren't using it
@@branfiliit has a move that lowers defense like x3 and then you all boost each other with Helping Hand, and then use Iron Head with a chance to crit. I did this many times though it’s been a while (hence why I can’t remember the move names lmao)
@@branfili It's because of its ability Steely Spirit, which increases the damage of it and its allies' Steel type moves by 50%. It stacks. With itself. Four times.
9:01 Which is Ironic considering that's what she makes us do when you try to tell Kieran, if anything this entire situation is her fault. It's not even the Players fault because the game actively pushes you to lie and Gaslight Kieran when you don't want to.
I had an ENTIRE rant about this when I finally played through the DLCs to this point. It made me furiously hate Carmine. I do not like Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss Carmine.
That’s why I can’t never understand why people like Carmine. It’s her idea to gaslight her little brother, which makes his clearly bad mental health (something about his submissiveness to his sister doesn’t sit well with me) even worse. So to me, Kieran isn’t funny, because they’re basically saying someone who went through a lot of trauma and is trying to cope with it funny. TLDR: I was happy that GF gave me an option to effectively say, “No I don’t fucking like you,” to Carmine in Indigo Disk.
I will agree that it is Carmine's fault, but I also agree that Kieran would not have taken missing the ogre very well. He already feels suppressed by her older sister's aggressive personality, and he's slightly bothered by our strength surpassing his own. Learning that both of these got to see Ogerpon, but he didn't, wouldn't have gone well. And since Carmine is so naturally aggressive, even her expressions of affection also comes out very aggressive, which easily rubs people the wrong way, and to family would feel like she was pushing them away. His grandpa was right that he wasn't old enough to handle the ogre's true story. But unfortunately, he learned about it anyway on top of learning that we saw the ogre. So when Carmine realizes this, she pulls back on her aggression, realizing she needs to exercise restrain if she wants her true feelings to come across. That's why I love her despite everything.
She's just trying to protect him. Keep in mind that Kieran actively stalks Ogerpon's cave, and Ogerpon is considered to be a huge threat to the village at this point. She knew he would try to chase it down and didn't want him to get hurt.
1:48 Kieran and Carmine aren’t studying abroad. Blueberry Academy is the school that they attend but Kitakami is their home town (though I can’t seem to remember why they’re back home, probably vacation or something)
They were also part of the school trip, which is also why Briar accompanies us instead of an Naranja/Uva Academy teacher (prof. jacs just tags along for fun I think).
Putting this in case it hasn't been said: the shiny Meloetta living dex doesn't have a time limit, so you can take as much time as you need catching the Pokemon you need!
This was the first generation where I decided to do a full living dex in-game for both base game and DLC (which means yes, I caught duplicates for the overlapping spots) and considering recent announcements it turned out to be a pretty good idea
@@TheMasterBlaze Or gamefreak/ Nintendo could just stop being dicks and locking things behind really over-the-top bullshit requirements that feel like they are trying to turn these children's games into a second job
No, I _totally_ didn't decide to plow through the DLC with my squad of level 100s and then add my EV-trained team from previous games to the mix, why do you ask?
Watching Alpha's in game screenshots of his character during specific moments of the game, made me remember how i went and wore a biker helmet during the entirety of my run and i dont remember how i customized my character's face. Huh.
There now being a Shiny Meloetta event for getting a Living Dex of all the Pokemon in the game is going to make me try and complete the a Living Dex for future Pokemon titles
@@Gearheart8 for a very brief tldr. Ace is a character from one piece who consumed something that made his body like fire. He was killed by someone who ate a fruit that made his body like magma. its a joke that Ace died to "hotter fire". Also Alpha is a huge One Piece fan so he has these kinds of jokes often.
I am currently creating a living dex of all the Pokemon in Scar/Vio and I can personally confirm that there are 682 unique Pokemon in the dexes (400 Paldea, 101 Kitakami & 181 Blueberry) and 28 Pokemon that you can get that are NOT in the dex (Snacksworth legends + Perrserker for some reason) meaning there are 710 Pokemon in total.
But he could just have caught them himself though. You need a player with the other edition and go to the spot in Zone 0 where they are and you can just catch them. It's only a bit harder since you can't see other players there but it still works.
You forgot about the fact that when you invite Mr. Salvatore (the language teacher) Into the blueberry academy 3 times (and battle him 2/3 times) When you talk to him the 3rd time he will trade you an Alolan Meowth
Unrelated to your comment but I just need to say how much I love how much the ISAT profile pics are spreading around. I love the game because I relate to most of the characters a lot, especially Siffrin, which is probably something to be concerned about but oh well.
The game hates Keiran so much that it made his Master Ball fail to catch a Pokemon. I repeat: THE MASTER BALL, A POKEBALL SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO NEVER EVER FAIL A CATCH NO MATTER WHAT, FAILED FOR HIM. That some next-level cosmic fuckery right there.
32:44 I think it's because those are the legendaries that you can get in games that connect to pokemon home, making it pretty easy to get multiple on your team. Regice, Regirock, Registeel, Regigigas, Heatran, Thundorus, Landorus, Thundorus, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina (and Darkrai but he's not on the graphic) can all be found in Legends Arceus, Zacian and Zamazenta are obviously found in sword and shield, and Mewtwo can be found in Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu & Eevee.
0:56 Alpherad: "Like there is an Entire secret rare Pokémon in the base game that's not in the Pokedex that I swear nobody actually knows about." *Meanwhile I'm just sitting here looking at my Galarian Perrserker in my boxes*
so fun fact about the Teal Mask, if you don't progress through the main story of S/V the legendary Ogre Pon will be lvl 15 instead of the lvl majority of people got her AFTER beating S/V story. As for Blueberry Academy, it's meant to be played after beating S/V. You cannot try and get any pokemons here low level, they are all high levels. This also make Blue Berry Academy the one pokemon game where the Elite 4 and Champion do not hold back when picking the item hold and move set for their main pokemons. This is also the highest level pokemon we've seen trainers have rivaling that of Red's Pikachu right down to fighting Cynthia in B/W.
31:38 "The whole point of this entire epilogue campaign is to make sure you donyt entirely hate Kieran" Wait? Who hates Kieran? Hes literally the one character this gen that has had the least hate! The only hate I've seen from him since the DLCs released was for the first because people were complaining he's a shota!
So for the shiny meloetta, you do not need to create a living dex in home. You just need to have the Paldean version of that pokemon to have been in home at least once. For me, since I was shiny hunting everything, I'd actually transferred a lot of my mons from Scarlet over to Violet, and I only have the free version of home so I'd chuck 30 in and then take 30 out. As it turns out, I was only about 200 away from the complete dex in home, so I went around catching a bunch of stuff I was missing, stuck it in, and then took it out again. My pokemon home was essentially empty when I got the meloetta mystery gift
Yup I knew about the Galarian Meowth/Perrserker side quest before either of the DLCs came out. That scruffy guy has just been sitting in my one of my boxes the entire time. I think I found out about the classes you could attend after I completed the Larry’s gym.
Am I only the only one who didn't catch them all in the earlier games? I never even got a Shiny Charm until Legends Arceus. I just caught my favorites.
Legends Arceus is the first and probably only Pokemon game where I ever even considered catching them all. I never caught a shiny until I randomly got a shiny Moltres in Dynamax Adventures and was really confused why it looked sunburned
The Teal Mask having so much gaslighting in it makes sense, since it's based on the old Onigashima myth Where Momotaro gathers his loyal Dog, Monkey and Pheasant to raid Oni Island... Except it isn't a myth, it was Japanese War propaganda.
23:58 fun fact; after you beat the three lackies, you can just use any pokemon against Drayton no matter where it was caught. ie: I beat him using Ogerpon...
Honestly, Meloetta's capture method is super cute. In Black and White to get her dancer form you have to take her to an alleway cafe where a musician plays her a song and mentions that the relic song is a sepia toned memory. In Scarlet and Violet you have to play the relic song with a sepia filter and she appears.
Well I mean there's the ALOLAN meowth you can get in this game too by doing the BB academy league club coach invitation thing (you have to first unlock Salvatore and then invite him THREE TIMES, battle him, and then trade for the alolan meowth)
12:06 i love alpharad but oh my GOD does he not understand any of the story of SV. genuinely feels like he's not reading any of the text sometimes, cuz like. first it was the whole penny stuff and now i. idk
An easier way to finish the three pokedexs would be to use pokemon home. To trade specifically for the hard to get pokemon you were missing like that meowth.
33:33 "Did people know about this?! He's just been in the game this whole time!" I knew! I actually enjoyed doing the classes in this game, surprisingly. It was a lot of fun getting to know the teachers. That, and I've done like just about everything this game has to offer and I'm still playing it, because I genuinely love it that much.
27:16 imagine seeing your worst enemies downfall. And you’re just so amazed, you need to compensate the one responsible with one of the most valuable things in your world
You can say what you want about Kieran but honestly if some random guy showed up to my town and presented themself as an undefeatable force who showed god to anyone who fought against them, and has literally everything go right for them all the time, and I found out that my own family took their side over mine, I feel like I would’ve turned out way worse than him
I’m playing Violet myself and I had to “get creative” to get Raging Bolt and Gouging Fire too lol. I’m planning to go through Scarlet at some point though. As for Perrserker I did all the school stuff throughout the base game and got the Meowth fairly early. I’m glad I did it as it became available because it’s a pain in the ass haha
I feel like combined with the main game and the DLC, I think Scarlet and Violet have the best story and characters in all of Pokémon. Like you have the main game with so many fun and expressive characters all with unique personalities, as well as the main 3 friends in your game, nemona, Arvin, and penny. All of which have their own unique stories that tides into the final ones at the end. So already the base game is a fantastic story, but then the DLC improves on that. Kirin is a generally really interesting rival, and I like his slow descent into madness arc. Additionally, all the other characters are fantastic too! From Carmine, to the BB league, everyone here is fantastic and brimming with personality and expressiveness. If this is how they’re going to be handling characters and the stories in Pokémon, I can’t wait to see what to do next
Hi alpha thanks for uploading your videos on teal mask and indigo disk, I couldn't be assed to see their plot in detail, thank you for gaslighting Korey
