lately sony has been my only wife, now girlfriend, child and dog!! just when I thought I had everything I needed. I got sony a9 preorder, sony 100-400, now my credit card is out waiting to preorder the 16-35 tomorrow. sheesh..

I think that one day Sony might even make lenses that aren't focus by wire... but that's just a dream for now

I'd hope so. I'm not yet seeing the upside of focus by wire, other than to make the lens smaller.

not going to happen, FBW totally excels at videos, sony is targeting BOTH video and still shooters. USM like canon is pretty bad for video. Another thing is linear vs non linear implementations. Linear works similar to manual focus lenses, where non linear is...... total crap. Sony is a mixed bag in this case.

A (glass)is something we drink out of ..Sony are making good lenses not glass...Good review..It’s just me, when Americans refer to lenses as glass I find it anomie don’t know why ..

But, at a wallet melting $2K is a little disconcerting....kind of hard to just throw in your bag....Go with Sigma...way less expensive and even better quality, without breaking the bank.

Gmaster lenses are some of the highest dxo ranked glass one can own(as they should be). Also, there's no exact equivalent for Sony from sigma. You're going with less low light capabilities with an F4 lens and you're talking different focal lengths(12-24 f4). If you're going prime lenses..then sure. You can grab a sigma 24mm for $900, but it's not tested for quality yet and primes are always less expensive. Comes down to personal need and preference, but at the end of the day there's no sigma 16-35 2.8

the 24-70 and 70-200 G Masters are as good or better than the 24-70 and 70-200 Canon 2.8 glass I used. That's reality.

lmbo Ralf Jansen Sony zeiss 35 1.4, Sony Zeiss 50 1.4, Sony GM 85 1.4, Sony GM 24-70 2.8, Sony GM 70-200 2.8, Sony 90 Macro 2.8, Sony GM 100 stf, and now the Sony GM 16-35 2.8, Sony GM 100-400 I would put those lens up agents any other lens maker any day and every spec is what Sony said they would be. EXCELLENT! ps these are all lenses I own or have used myself and the specs are real.
