The Chrosziel Zoomer lens servo drive adds smooth power zoom to any lens, but we wanted to see particularly how it worked with the super telephoto Sony G-Master 200-600mm on our Sony FX6. What do you think?
Check out the Chrosziel Zoomer Servo Drive here: www.chrosziel....
The FX6 smoothness of movement is all down to the extra drag of the Sachtler Aktiv 8 tripod head on our Flowtech 75 carbon fibre legs!

This was uploaded in 4K, so if you don't get that option please report it to RU-vid!

Nice video! With the original Sony RM1-BP remote you‘ll get also the clear image zoom with the zoomer like with the hand grip.

Strong opening shot of the fisherman, loved the sculpture beside them.

This looks like such a good product but at 2.3K it's more expensive than that 200-600.
@fryfilm2000
@fryfilm2000 10 месяцев назад
It is, because you can use it on ANY lens. Imagine putting it on a £50k cinema zoom, the difference is then more favourable.

@@fryfilm2000 Yeah, I get that. Realized I could use it on all my lenses even sigma 60-600. So I’m giving it more thought now.

Hi there Fry Filming for 2years now ive been filming aircraft at airshows the gear i use is panasonic cx350 fixed camcorder plus sachtler FSB8 video head plus flow teck tripod . i find filming the aircraft not to hard trying to keep it centre on the external screen but when im useing the 20x optical zoom quite tight footage following the aircraft i cant keep it smooth you get that gerky kind of jumpy affect do i did more advanced kind of cam for this like seperate lens cam like the Fx6 your useing ive watch other aircraft filmers on you tube there footage when zoomed in is smoother i dont no if they edit this footage in post or useing a zoom affect in post. On you tube under anthony peirce 5875 if you would like to see the close up footage on the fast jet filming you will see its not smooth at times .

Hi Anthony, the jerkiness is usually pan speed relative to shutter. We used to avoid that with interlaced cameras, but these days lots of stuff is 25 or 30 progressive, which shows up this effect more. If you can, shoot 50 or 60 progressive with the shutter set at double that, so if the camera shoots 50P use 100th shutter. Contributing might be the image stabiliser in the camera or lens - turn that off if you are using a good tripod otherwise it often fights deliberate moves thinking they are unwanted shake.

Thankyou FryFilm yea see what you mean pan speed relative to shutter i film 50fps ive tried many shutters speeds from 60 to 2000 still get jerky when zoomed in tight makes no difference here. 0n the cx350 it has a pan & tilt stabilize setting i find with the stabilizer turned off i get a vibration shake affect on the aircraft panning slow but ok panning faster being honest i only started going to 2022 airshows with this set upon tripod use because 2020 & 2021 of covid .So i find im doing really well filming planes but the cam has a roller shutter so this is the only problem i think when zoomed in close panning

hi there fry filming im thinking of changing my panasonic cx350 to a sony Fx6 for filming aircraft ETC airshows what would be a great lens for this type of filming i use sachtler videohead & tripod ETC . plus i would very much like to see your aircraft filming with the FX6

hi there Fry filming i would dearly like to see footage of the perfomance of the sony Fx6 with a long lens on tripod videohead Etc.I went to RIAT 2024 as i said before im useing the panasonic cx350 with sachtler videohead flow teck tripod ETC i dont find filming aircraft difficult at all pan and tilting following the image with sachtler FS8 head works very nice everything is smooth plus all the settings are in place on the cx350 and it got very nice detail in ultra hd .But i must repeat my self again about the zooming in tight 20x optical zoom ive tried everthing to stop the image jerking Even with stabilization turned off or on i fill the cx350 cant handle this im willing to spend on a more advanced cam with importantly longer lens thankyou anthony

Good stuff, thanks for this! I'm wondering what else you have attached to the camera rig. I see a shoulder mount and some sort of sliding system with rails, and a lens support. Looks like it's all from Chrosziel? And chance you could list what you've got going on? Thanks in advance!
@fryfilm2000
@fryfilm2000 Год назад
Yes mostly Chrosziel bits, FX6 baseplate & lens support, 450-R21 mattebox, custom battery mount, little dual ball head arm for the Atomos Ninja V at the back.

There's another video here where I talk thought all the component in the setup actually: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u2mz-3TeG6E.html

So with the autofocus making it perform as parfocal, does this end the need of a b4 lens for you?

Absolutely!

Do you think the Chroziel could handle the zoom of a Sigma 150-600 mm. It´s not an internal zoom, that´s why I´m wondering. Another question: I the head you are using strong enough for such a hevy lens? Don´t you get a lot of micro jitters?
@fryfilm2000
@fryfilm2000 Год назад
Yes I'm certain the zoom motor could cope with that lens, in fact it's designed for old film zoom lenses so should have no problem with he Sigma. And yes again, the head (as the video demonstrates) easily copes with such a heavy lens. Actually for the focal lengths it's not that heavy, but I have had Alexa Minis on this tripod set and it's just brilliant. The Sachtler Active heads are even better because they have more drag.

Might sound dumb but can this work on FX3? Or is it missing an input for power that the FX6 has?
@fryfilm2000
@fryfilm2000 Год назад
The zoom motor just needs a battery with a D-tap power output, so it matters not which camera it is used with. I’ve used it with a Nikon Z6 by clamping a small d-tap battery to the tripod leg.

I wonder what it would be like on a FX30, you get 1.5 extra zoom

I just tested my new 200-600mm yesterday on my FX30. It started raining so I didn't get to shoot as much footage as I wanted to. It's nice and sharp with snappy focus. The OSS performed very well.

Can i use that zoomer on my fx3???
@fryfilm2000
@fryfilm2000 Год назад
Yes, you just need to power it. I show it with a Nikon mirrorless later in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vs1OBRh_UZs.html

It feels a bit jerky when zooming in and out
@fryfilm2000
@fryfilm2000 Год назад
Only on the mirrorless camera because it wasn't properly supported. There's a slight speed change when the Clear Image Zoom kicks in, so I try to avoid that, otherwise the motor itself is the smoothest I've ever used.

The FX6 has internal ND so why do you keep a matte box mounted? Or is it more of an aesthetic style thing?
@fryfilm2000
@fryfilm2000 11 месяцев назад
A matte box does a lot more than hold filters, and there’s a lot of other filters than just NDs.
