Hello internet! In this video I talk about 3 different manual lenses that are under $100. All 3 lenses work with the Sony a6000 and produce great images. Each lens is unique in their own way, and they're a ton of fun to use. All 35mm f1.7, Fotasy, Brightin Star, and Neweer. I go over their build quality, pricing, and how they perform. I love that your videos are focused on the a6000. Buying it this year as a beginner photographer, I was worried I would eventually regret it because it would be too outdated, especially with newer models recently announced. But it is so nice to see there is still this community online who continue to support and enjoy using this camera! Would love to see a tutorial for a beginner trying to shoot manual for the first time.

With how expensive lenses for the Sony E system are, its nice to see third party companies making such cheap yet bang for the buck lenses. Thanks for the review. By any chance was there a speck kf dust on the Fotasy lens somewhere? the Bokeh spot really looks as if its a dust particle inside the lens, maybe other units dont have that issue? Did you check for that? Anyway thanks again for the review, I didnt even know such cheap lenses exited for sony.

Lately I find myself too indolent to speak, talking is exhausting, no? I've been having the urge to not to speak at all. The less I speak, the more I am able to observe myself and the living. Kyle, I’m not a professional photographer but I do love take photo to capture every important moments, especially with family occasion, since its rare to have these moment. & I like how every person in the world have no clue HOW or WHEN we will cross our path in this beautiful life. In fact, that my life and yours already did when I bought A6000, you’ve no idea how your video tips/lens review help my journey in my photography a lot! I really thankful for the video that you’ve uploaded every time & I hope you won’t stop uploading about a6000. For my 60th birthday, my mom bought me a Sony a6000. I have always used Canon for years. But this year I go a Sony and I was very unhappy with it at first and sought to exchange it for a Canon mirrorless. (BUT Then) at the camera store, they reeled me in hook line and sinker. I bought the Manual Focus 35mm; I was hooked. I recently bought a 50mm Manual focus based on your video recommendations. Actually, I have bought more lenses for my Sony than I have ever bought for either one of my Canons. But this manual focus for Sony a6000 is so much fun. Yes, Fun, did I say Fun, yes Fun.

Brightin Star looks good, but neewer has better bokeh. However, the characteristics of BStar (I almost typed BS, and I did... sigh) is interesting as the imperfections of the bokeh is quite unique. I have never seen that halo effect before.

I'm pretty much torn between the BrightinStar and the Neewer. BrightinStar in my opinion controls light better, but Neewer's bokeh is superior.

The brightin star is actually a tad on the darker side exposure wise. However it's a great lens. You honestly can't go wrong with either of them. You're entered to win one though! haha

Very helpful - thank you. I splurged and got an 6400 with the 18-135 kit lens and sort of overwhelmed with the features. I love the idea of these smaller manual cheap lenses to try out. I just can’t go out and drop another $200+ on more lenses, but < $75 is more up my alley. The Neewer looked the best, but they seem fairly close, and I like the slightly better build quality. Any wide-angle lenses to recommend at this price point?

I think there may be some 12mm options, or a 28mm. I’m looking I to doing another video like this in the coming weeks. Also that combo you have is niceeeee. The 18-135 is an awesome lens, definitely not a “kit” lens like some think.

The Sony a6000 is so light, ideal pocket sized and of great value - I get more use of out of this camera than any I own - Argos seem to think we will pay £2,500 for a Nikon D500 with kit lens (which I also own) by why do you need to? Get the a6000, a spare body? plus great lenses if you have the money.

The first box is a giveaway. The lens is for CCTV security video camera ie C mount and fotasy attach a adapter to use with Sony E mount.. So the market is open to CCTV lenses , some of them have quite a character..

The neewer seems to be similar to another lense... Like a meiki or something can't really remember. Also I'm quite glad there's still some new A6000 videos being put out. Brightin star seems to be the best in the bunch(in my opinion)

Great stuff! Imagine having a 300 dollar setup (a6000 and the brighten star) and shooting great low light pictures. Next year I’ll be headed to Tokyo, I feel these are great lenses to just chuck in your bag and let the photos be photos.

Your puppy is too adorable. He/she looks like such a model. Also, I noticed the speck in the Fotasy bokeh before I saw the comparison shots. This is an amazingly comprehensive video that I am extremely grateful for. If I HAD to choose just one...it would be the Neewer...but I may honestly just grab them all. I’ll most likely get the Neewer first as it had the most consistency in quality photos for me.

All of these lenses look amazing for this price 🤭 Also I completely forgot about peaking level and is so helpful (my sight also isn’t the best and I have no idea when and where is the focus 😂) I recently got an analog camera and everything is manual and I love it! Have been looking for a manual lens for my a6000 which is cheap. Had kit lens since I bought a6000 and I want to upgrade

Your analysis of the optical results of each of the lenses is exactly where I stand. Neewer produces the best results, but only by a small margin to the Brightin star. Nevertheless, all three lenses are CHEAP for what they produce. I would have also loved to see a video test though :)

Hey Kyle, Big fan. I first came across your channel when I was confused about which camera to buy and to be honest, you are the reason i own an A6000 now 😅😅. My opinions on the lens: 1) fotasy, I kind of cool lens to experiment with. A fun time lens. 2) brightin star, it looks like it gives more more vibrant and contrasty look.. contrasty!! is there are word like that? 😂😂. 3) Neewer, nice bokeh and sharpness, and it comes with a price. I love all three of them, personally. Keep up the good work and keep inspiring people like me 😊👍

I’m just realizing this is ON the manual lens video lol. Any of them can suit your needs as a 35mm f1.7, but is maybe getting an auto focus lens (like the ones in my other comment) if you’re worried about nailing focus in the beginning if your photo journey.

Hey! Great video! I got the Fotasy 35mm after your first video about it! This video was even better and now I'm wondering if I should invest in one of the other ones!! Quick question, I had switched my a6000 to enable the 'release w/o lens' and now I'm just realizing I never switched it back after I went back to regular lenses.....Do you know if I need to switch it back to disable for regular lenses?

I bought the a6000 with the 18-105 lens 2 months ago. Entering photography without knowing anything. My whole budget went to it. Now i am sad i can't do macro-ish with it, because thats something i want to do. The seller told me "buy this" so i bought "this" :p The minimum focus distance on the 18-105 is really high so thanks fot these cheap lensens that could satisfy my needs. And you ship worldwide ? This is my time to shine and actually try to win something :p Thanks on making the a6000 vids they are really helpfull for starters!

What is the difference between a 35mm lens and the kit lens that came with the a6000 (my kit lens is a Sony 3.5-5.6 16-50 Optical Steady Shot)? Thank you! Your videos are very helpful.

Prime lenses are designed for that specific focal length. So it’s overall a much sharper lens. Also, it has a maximum aperture of f2.8, so the bokeh is increased, and it’s much better for lowlight. 🙌🏻

So i mainly take photos of coffees and coffee shops. I have bought a Sony FE 50mm F1.8, but that often means I have to stand about 100 yards away from the coffee I want to photograph... would any of these lenses allow me to get a little more close and personal? I honestly think the 50mm is perfect for that, OR, go the complete opposite route and grab the Sigma 16mm f1.4. So you can get up in the coffee’s face, and still capture a little ambiance around it. Would also be killer for shots in the corner of the coffee shops. These lenses will allow you step back a couple feet from the 50mm.

Both Brightin Star and Neewer looks good, however, I noticed that on your side to side comparison photos both Fotasy and Neewer has Chromatic Aberration and that's nowhere to be seen on Brightin Star photos. Even though Neewer is looks more versatile and has more natural bokeh, still would pick Brightin Star, because of that dank quality. But thats just my 2 cents ;) thanks for nice comparison/review video and keep up the good work!

The Neewer 35mm f/1.2 is an excellent lens for about $85 although I don't know if you reviewed that one. It's bokeh is supposed to be perfect as well based on a video by the Zenography RU-vid reviewer, another of my favorites.

One of the reason I own the A6000 is because of your review or tips video about this camera. With my tight budget and some information from your video, I had A6000 for almost a year.
