Hi! I'm Kyle Taggart. I make videos about photography, cameras, and being a creator. I do a ton of videos on the Sony E mount cameras like the Sony a6000 and a6100, and also videos on the Canon M50.

Thank you for the video. Will this lens be a good lens for taking pictures of a high school band member on a football field? I have a Sony a6100 and would like to get away from the kit lenses. I'm not happy with the 55-210 that came with the camera.
@@kyletaggart awesome! I also have the Sony 50mm f1.8 but wanted to get a different focal length. So the Sigma will be the second lens to add to my arsenal besides the two kit lenses.
Hi Kyle, Sigma hmm? No image stabilization and Alpha 6100 no image stabilization as well - not too risky to pair those two? I own A6000 and I was thinking to get this Sigma (or Tamron 17-70...)... I would appreciate your feedback.
I just scored a mint a6000 and want this lens for wildlife photography while hiking... In the last month I've had excellent opportunities to photograph a great horned owl, GBH, and Bald Eagle all in sunset light, and by the time i dug out my phone with the 3x optical zoom, my images were poop... In particular the owl shot because he was on the top of pine tree's doubled over top stem, and it was dark enough its eyes were glowing in the sunset... If I only had a real camera for it.... Ty for the infoz on the lens.
Aww really? In what situations? Low light or day? Is it bad when really zooming in? I'm looking at this for the zoom and the cheap pricetag otherwise I'm very happy with my sigma 18-50
I need help! Idk what I pressed on my a6000 but every time I turn my camera on it does a screen that im not able to remove no matter what I press, please help me
Hi, thank you for this amazing video. I‘m looking forward to buy the Tamron 18-300 for Sony mount but am a little worried about the zoom ring. Would like to use it in is wide range to film skateboarding handheld. Therefore I‘m not sure if the zoom ring would slide out when pointing down on the board. You‘re help would be much appreciated 🙏🏼
Handheld and skateboarding, interesting! Typically skateboarding video use very wide angle, even fisheye type lenses. This lens would cover a lot of different use cases, but if you’re using one hand it is possible the zoom could slip slightly. I don’t have the lens anymore, otherwise I’d try what you’re talking about lol. You’re usually trying to be still when filming others, so I think it would be ok. You could also get a prime lens, like sigma 16mm or Viltrox 13mm, which are smaller overall. They’re wider in focal length. They are a shorter but may weigh close to the same as the Tamron, unsure. With those lenses you could still zoom in by using clear image zoom, and assigning that to a button you’re able to access easy. I use the c1 button on my a6100. Then you use the wheel around the center button to “zoom” in or out. I use this when streaming. It’s nice to have a wide angle and then I can punch in a bit when needed with clear image zoom.
@@kyletaggart Thank you so much for your quick response. I’m aiming for a more Surfmovie cinematic look for skateboarding. The sigma 16mm actually is the other lenses I’m planning to buy for following or potential low light scenes. The tip with the clean image zoom is amazing. Thank you so much 🙏🏼 The idea with the 18-300 would be to be able to use it for mostly tripod. Being able to shoot surfers from the beach but also get close to skateboarders all within one lense just is tempting.
@luetti4.0 ah gotcha! Well if you need that long zoom then the Tamron is a great start and great all around lens. You can also use clear image zoom to go past 300mm 🤪
Thank you. Even 5 years after you created this video, it's so helpful . I just picked up the 35mm Sony lens for my a6000. I had no idea how to change the aperture.
I mean this lens can suffice if it’s a well lit gym. However for more serious indoor shooting you’ll need to look towards very expensive full frame lenses. I’d give this one a shot first, you can find it used for cheap!
just picked up a used A6000 with this lens for 160 bucks. absolute steal of a deal. Just need to clean so early onset mold inside the lens and it's all good to go.
How does this do with the Sony a6000 on any of the auto modes? For quick snaps via TTL. Heard some flashes over expose shots when automatic mode is being used. Newbie here* Thanks!
Hey Marc. I got a little overburdened with doing reviews on lenses sent, had anxiety, and overall felt a lot of pressure. Add in some personal difficulties, and then focusing on my day job, I just had to step back. I think about making videos a lot, and hope you’ll be there if I post a new video some time in the future! Thanks for asking and watching my videos. 😄
@@kyletaggart in totally get it! i actually had to take a mental health break this weekend from photography (taking a break until the obsession ends). i was addicted to buying lenses. also, i was putting a lot of pressure on myself to keep one-upping my previous work.
i got this lens for like $100. i have even taken some pretty great pics with it. while i mainly rock a a7iii w/a 85mm 1.8 or a sigma 70-200mm 2.8, i like to use the a6100 and the 55-210, especially for trips. used, this is like a $400-$500 combo, so i don't worry about it getting destroyed.
I was looking at camera prices but then dug up my old a6000 i got in highschool 8 years ago lol. Bought this same cleaning kit and a fresh battery that's coming tomorrow! Excited to revitalize my camera!! Because honestly camera quality has sorta stagnated witht he rest of tech lol.
Hey can I ask on my phone LR mobile doesnt sync in the background when I have other apps open, is this normal behaviour? If it is that seems stupid, that the(cloud) syncing only happens when you are using it.. anyway great vid!
My question. Another alternative for zoom lens sony is 18-200mm f3.5-6.3, OS LE. It is okay compare to Sony E 50-210mm? It is big different produce image from both of this lens?
Don’t think there would be a huge difference in image quality. I’ve never used the 18-200, it’s older, but is probably comparable to the 55-210 in quality.
About the Sony 16mm pancake lens: optical, its nothing special. But you can get your Sony camera into your pants pocket. This gets me a ton of great shots around town, that I would have missed without the convenience of that Pancake lens. Not to mention, I like the 24mm equivalent. If Sony ever made a better version of this, I'd buy it.
A little late, but that missing feat could easily be 3D-printed :) - Great Video btw and thx for the comparison/review of the K&F PD: The pointy tips of the K&F have a hexagonal head, so I assume you can screw them off... LBNL: How is the K&F holding up to this point? Still good..?
