I have the a 6000 with the 18 105 mm and 35 mm 1.8 but for some reason I'm looking for the best all in one small camera. About to pull the trigger on the mark 4 until the ZS 100 came out, now I'm confused. So since we are a few months away from the release of the mark 5 from Sony my gut tells me to wait. The question is will Sony offer a better zoom ? Thanks. Great review like always.
Thanks for the comparison Ed. I'm a proud owner of the Panasonic LX7 and the Sony a6000. While my cameras are different from the ones you compared, I do experience similar trade offs. The Panasonic is compact and a jack of all trades, but the a6000 is better in low light, better subject isolation, and can accept interchangeable lenses (which can be a good and bad thing). I guess we'll always have trade offs until the "perfect camera" is made.
The A6300 appeals to APSC Dslr owners who want a more compact product. The Panasonic is more a general consumer camera, despite the relatively similar price range I'd say they are not aimed at the same customer base. The A6300 requires further investment in lenses where as the Panasonic is an all in one solution. For many they want simplicity and the Panasonic will meet that need better for the average consumer than the A6300 even if cost is not an issue.
