You need Viltrox 75mm f1.2 for α6700 - it's on another level when you compare it to Sigma 56mm f1.4. With Viltrox you don't need big Full Frame camera

The a6700 seems to have better light metering for portrait photos. I’m delighted to see that the aps-c combo was able to render many 3D pop pics. I tempt to get the Viltrox 75mm 1.2 but after watching your vid, I think I’ll go for the Sigma 56 1.4

I think they are pretty similar, but in the A7III I think that you have a Full frame and it’s better, I think now at the moment both have almost same prices, but personally I prefer the A7III

The skin tones were better in the 6700 but the f1.4 on full frame just smashes the background. Maybe a 85mm 1.8 FF vs the 56mm 1.4 APSC would be more interesting comparison. 🤔 Im on the fence about swaping from a nikon z6 to a Sony for better lens choice and better AF but cant decide on what Sony. Thanks for the tip on picking the 6400 over the 6700! I could always try a used 6400 and prime lens without breaking the bank.

From amateur perspective, after seeing those huge lenses on FF cameras I would choose apsc (or even m34) camera today - the size factor is never considered in reviews. Now I own zv-e10 and sigma 18-50 and I consider it as best travel/all in one combo. Fits into backpack and covers most of my needs. My next camera would be zve10 2nd generation if it woudnt be not overgrown otherwise I would consider a6700 but for better price than nowadays. A73 in my opinion is great for photos and is very good value for money - but lenses are huge and expensive. Greetings!

It's always the same. For portrait shooting offers full frame a smoother bokeh, although there are some very interesting lenses as the Viltrox 75 1.2 for aps-c now. For me as hobby photographer who shoots a lot different thinks from milky way to macro is aps-c by far the better choice because of seize, weight, costs and more reach for tele and better depth of field for macro. For portait shooting are my A6400 and Sigma 56 1.4 enough for me. It's my personal choice. Thank you for your comparison, it makes the differences clear.

You did your beautiful model justice. Both cameras made beautiful images. Only real difference is the depth of field but that can be ignored or overcome. The young lady's features are perfectly sharp (eye lashes, eyes, hair, clothing). I am amazed today more than before at how good Sony aps-c cameras are. No real need for big heavy and expensive gear for many jobs. The little guy does extremely well.

Good comparison, and very nice shots and model! In short, you can blow the bkgr easier with a full frame, and 85 1.4. But the OOC colors I think are slighly better on the a6700 (newer Sony color science). I'd try also the impressive Viltrox 75mm 1.2 on the a6700. And also, I'd upgrade the a7 III to the a7 IV, to have both the color science, menu on the a6700, and a better AF, better ergonomics, EVF etc. Plus the 33 vs 24 MP offers some room to crop, and even to sometimes use APS-C lenses on the camera, with APS-C crop.

if ur gonna use the lenses for photography then u should have 16 135 but if youre gonna use it for video u should get something like 24 70 and that would be better for photos too

Thanks you, I like the a7iii photos better but it was kinda expected. That being said, I went with the a6700 for the video capability, compact size and lenses prices. It really depends on what you 'll want to do with your camera really. That being said, the a6700 is still very capable in photography.

@olivershutterspeed I am from Ethiopia, and I love the content you posted recently. You always show us it is possible to get great images from budget cameras. I do have a Sony A7c with an APSC 18-105 F4 lens, but I couldn't produce an image that has a similar quality to you. Additionally, I saw the recent images you took with a gear like a6000 have really a different quality as compared to the previous images taken with the same gear.what is the reason behind?

18-105 is apsc, a7c is full frame

The A7C is a full frame sensor, and is the same sensor as the a7III. I have the 18-105 F4. It's an APSC lens, as you mention, and it's not the the sharpest lens, so it's not going to look that great, and if you use it on the A7C in crop mode, you're only going to be using half the megapixels, which means 12 megapixels, since the a7c has a 24 megapixel sensor, so in other words, it's going to look even worse than it would on an a6000, which has a 24 megapixel sensor, but it will be able to use all 24 megapixels.

Hello Sir, I am Inclined towards buying Sony A6700 i am confused between the lens wether to get 16-50 mm Power zoom lens or 18-135 mm zoom lens, it has an roughly 240 USD price difference in India, mostly in want to use it for Landscape, Portraits indoor and outdoor & Events.

Always go full frame now if you can afford to do so. On every photo it was easy to tell which was full frame. It has a definitive quality filmic look. APSC has to rely on more digital processing.

Doesn't freeze just on Sigma, my a6700 froze with the Sony 90mm macro lens. Not a biggie, bet Sony is working on a fix. Better than having a shutter on a film camera fail.

I don't give a damn about bokeh. Frankly, I can't really understand why people want to pay more money to get blurrier backgrounds. Yes, I get it. Subject separation, popping, etc. But seriously, you're talking about paying more money for blurrier backgrounds... But what I am really, REALLY concerned about is sharpness and image quality. I keep looking at pixel noise, and although I see some additional noise on the APSC images when really zoomed in, I also look at the size and weight of the lenses, and imagine not wanting to carry them around with me. If the best camera is the one you have with you, then I'd rather de-noise a little bit of noise in post, and buy more, lighter and cheaper lenses with an a6700, than carry bulkier, more expensive lenses around.

Yes and no.....they will never be able to tell if it is shot on FF or APSC unless you show them two photos to compare and, in many cases, tell them what the differences are. And I definitely think you too will not be able to tell if there is no photos shown side by side. There are many great APSC lenses these days to do portraits like the Viltrox 75mm F1.2 or the Sigma 56mm F1.4 and the background is gonna be super blurry to the point people would not even care anymore if it is APSC or FF.

Plus the blurrier background, due to sensor size, can be achieved by moving yourself back with your APSC camera, so that you have the subject occupying the same amount in the photo than it does in the full frame one. Aka, you get the same blurry background if you go further back to account for the fact that APSC has a 1.6/1.5 "zoom" effect. When comparing both subjects at the same size, and literally the same photo, the blur is the same (assuming the same aperture has been used, not the equivalent one between APSC and FF).

The a6700 has better autofocus and you'll already have lenses for it. It's lighter and has really similar quality. If you care about video, the a6700 is WAY better than the a7iii. If only photos, they're comparable, but the a6700 has better autofocus, and the new and improved software.

Came from a6400 to the a7iii, a6400 felt it focuses better but I never regretted my decision since I used to limit my iso on the a6400 since I find it noisy above 3k iso, with the a7iii I can even go as far as 20k iso with comparable noise to the 3k iso on the a6400. Now I just do auto iso on a7iii

I am considering buying the A6700. I came from a A6000. I watched a video from a guy shooting with the A6700 @ iso 8000. No noise at all. But i think that was after processing. It was a very clear image

Ok but....if you use a sigma F1.4 on apsc you have to use the 85 at f2.0! It's obvious we can see the difference in the bokeh! The sigma 56 F1.4 is equivalent (in bokeh) at f2.0 in full frame!

No, A7iii sensor is 24.2MP while A6700 is 26MP. You will not notice any differences. I have A6700 and I have borrowed A7iii from a friend to try. I can't see any difference even when zoomed in to pixel peeping. It all depends on the lens rather than the sensor when the MP counts on both are similar. If anything, the color on A6700 is noticeably better straight out of camera due to the newer color science but this is not very relevant anyway if you do post processing.

No he has to use the 85 at f2! Cause is the equivalent in bokeh to the sigma 56 F1.4. it's obvious if you have a crop sensor you can't have the same bokeh of you use the same F1.4 aperture.
