Both the A95K and G2 still make for excellent premium TV purchases in 2023, now with greatly reduced prices.
I bought both TVs in this comparison from Value Electronics. This is not a sponsored video, but want to thank them for their excellent service. Let Robert know I referred you if purchasing from them for possible incentives.

Great work man. I always love your in-depth and objective comparisons. You really do a wonderful job. 👏 Especially when it comes to being truly unbiased. I really appreciate that in a reviewer. The moral of the story here for me is both TV’s are amazing. I really don’t think you could go wrong with either. It’s more of a use case preference. I personally went LG bc I’m a gamer, and I like LG’s tone mapping approach, and true HGiG support, etc. I can’t forget to mention their calibration controls, either. Bc that’s a big deal to me, as someone who tinkers a lot, and does value accuracy. Which their calibration controls are top notch, and industry leading…a huge reason LG’s are so often used as client reference monitors, and even sometimes mastering monitors (for entry level colorist) This also shows there is not this HUGE gap between QDO and WRGB OLED, that many like to claim there is. The differences are truly minor, when set up/calibrated correctly. They both have strengths and weaknesses. You showed where the main advantage of QDO is…in the terms of luminance stability. Hopefully LG can keep working on that, and get it even better this year. I’d also love for them to keep working on getting full field luminance higher. Having more consistent brightness across the various window sizes. I think they’d have to get OLED more efficient, for that to happen tho. Especially with energy regulations. Tho, tbh, I truly don’t notice ABL bc of the way they’ve tuned the ABL algorithm this year. On my CX, I noticed the ABL a lot, especially when watching bright SDR content like sports. It would bother me, seeing the luminance changes when getting big windows of color, or white. I don’t see it at all, on my C2, even when looking for it. Oh yeah, and I also love the ability to turn off ASBL on the LG’s, keeping a stable APL, with all the fluctuations/dimming. That’s definitely something that bothers me, just like you said it bothers you.

Hgig isn't supported by most games, in this case you'll get dim HDR. Sony's approach of slight tone mapping to prefer colors is better, IMHO

@Classy Tech Calibrations what’s your opinion of the Samsung QN900B and Samsung QN95A? I love all your videos!!!! Great info always…And early 2022 you said Samsung QN90A was best you had seen at that point. So I’m just wondering what a serious chap like yourself thinks of those two
@ClassyTechCalibrations
@ClassyTechCalibrations Год назад
I assume you meant QN95B. There doesn't seem to be any difference between the QN90B and QN95B besides the build and one connect box. The updates throughout the year, and local dimming issues really changed those TVs and haven't seen one recently. The QN900B I'm not sure what has changed with it. The Hisense U8H beats them for local dimming and blooming control but worse processing. Overall Samsung is hard to recommend because of firmware updates.

@@ClassyTechCalibrations I believe the processor in the QN95B is superior to the QN90B. I believe it has the one in one of the 8K models. That’s why I was so surprised it has not gotten more attention and reviews to see if it makes any difference. THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSE brother! Really appreciate that and all the work you do. @@playafly131 it didn't do anything to improve the picture. In rtings case the 95B was slightly worse than the 90B. I saw the 95B at the TV shootout and it has some issue.

Hey man. I ended up getting an A95k over the A90J because of all the Dolby content I watch. One thing I think Sony has a clear edge over the G2 is the optional processing features. I have experimented immensely with the TV and I think I found an amazing hack for HDR movies and shows: Put Reality Creation on 38 with "Random Noise reduction" at "High" and a "Digital Noise Reduction" on high. Sounds crazy right? Actually, it makes the picture looks insanely realistic and 3 dimensional without noise and loss of detail. It does not look overly processed or smooth. But what you get is super crisp film with lots amazing detail. I know it is not "how the creators" originally edited it. But it takes away all softness and noise. Watch "Bullet train." with these settings. It's mind blowing. Also, having watched a lot of Dolby and HDR content, I have found that putting tone mapping on "Brightness preferred" on both DV Bright and Dark is incomparably better for HDR film. Again, I know it's "less accurate," but when it comes to HDR film, I have yet to see where any detail is lost with brightness preferred--like, at all. I have not been able to see a difference in detail yet. But what I do get, is an overall brighter presentation which is so much more enjoyable experience.
