Sony Alpha A6000 vs RX100M2 

I own both of these. If you don't buy really high quality expensive lenses, the A6000 will not even beat the RX100 II substantially in daylight. At night it's better, but I'm really talking about complete post-sundown, not even dusk where again the difference is marginal. The A6000 is a financial temptress. It shows you little glimpses of what it ideally can do, but ONLY if you buy that next lens that is pricier than the last one. Really, if you're in this for convenience and value the RX100 is the only reasonable choice. These two are in entirely different price classes when used realistically. And of course the handling advantage goes to the RX100 without even a contest.

I should add one thing though: these two make a nice combination. You can use the A6000 with a set of prime lenses and the light weight 55-210mm zoom and have the RX100 on the side so you don't have to worry about missing a shot while you have a lens with a restrictive focal length mounted. Works great.

price drop of the rx100 mkii to $530 has convince me to go with it for now, but I can always get the a6000 or even it's successor next year.

I have both cameras. I'm new to the RX100M2. On the RX100M2 I don't have a finger grip on the front... I guess I can pick up a third party one on eBay. Thanks for your review.

I have the rx100 mi, and the a6000 with the kit lenses. I like the pictures from the rx100 better.

Good review. I love Sony Nex-series since launched. I looking forward next video about image quality for both camera using same ISO,speed,aperture etc at same shooting place. :) There will be very interesting. I am very curious to know differentiation sensor size and what should expect for. Thanks!

Hy, in my case, I owe the rx100 (mark1).. So I have no WiFi, no hot shoe no ability to set exposure over 30sec. Would you recommend, in my case, to change to the a9000? Thanks.

Great video ! Decisions Decisions ... I like them both and I like the HX400V also because of that Zoom lens on it , it's loaded with features and a good price. Can't afford them all. It may come down to the RX100 III or the HX400V. What do you mean when you mentioned in your video that there will be a lose in the lens on the RX100 III from the RX100 II ? Thanks ... Ended up getting the M2 for only $400. And I got the A6000 for $750, with two lenses and a 32gb card.

So basically if you only use the kit lens on the a6000 you are better off getting the miii. Am I right? If so I am sold on the rx...

Thanks for the great review. Does the lens in RX 100M2 have image stabilization? What is 1,8 - 4,9/10,4 -3 7,1 in terms of mm zoom?

I've looked at photos made by A5100 (A6000 more expensive and bulky) and by RX1002, and the A5100 photos were much nicer especially when zoomed in. A5100 has few more mb pixels, but could it be because those pics were made with better lenses than the kit one? I am still confused which one to buy. It's more of a picture quality I am after, not for interchangable lenses.

Is the zoom on the A6000 as powerful as the one on the HX400V ?

But does it have enhancing/manipulating apps? No, so for most of my shooting, which is for net use, as is the case for most folks, my iPhone 5s, which I already have with me, does a great job, ie. as YOU say, the camera that you have with you is the Best One :-)
